Thanks so much for the link. There were two different movies.

Lon Chaney Sr. starred as a clown in the silent movie "He Who Gets Slapped" ... also, he starred as a clown in "Laugh, Clown, Laugh" Are these two different movies and stories, or was the film released twice with two separate titles?
