Sorry, no--but, thank you for a wonderful guess!
#1 Shall we go to the mall, take a little tour?
#2 Why can't kids run around freely at night anymore?

Thank you and yikes! I was guessing for fun, and I really wish you experts would become permanent quizmasters. However, if you'll excuse my amateur mistakes, I'll give it a try.

My Darling Clementine?

Could it be Stanley Holloway and Alec Guinness--THE LAVENDER HILL MOB?

FrankGrimes--You're too kind.
There has to be film footage somewhere showing Hendrix and Zappa in top hat and tails, singing "Puttin' On The Ritz" with Astaire. Super dooper. I think of all my under-appreciated favorites while humming along to "Weird Al" Yankovic's "Genius In France".
It's so great when actors and singers step out of their expected roles--Dwight Yoakam and John Ritter in Sling Blade, Cary Grant in that fine movie I just watched on TCM (None But The Lonely Heart), Jerry Lewis being thoughtful.

The Tall Men?

Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca
Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper in Ball of Fire
Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire in Top Hat
Fay Wray and King Kong
Margaret Dumont and Groucho Marx in Duck Soup

FrankGrimes--Great taste? I wonder if you'll still think that after I reveal my feelings for Jerry Lewis. Faint lingering nostalgic fondness mixed with guilt, embarrassment and genuine admiration--something like that. When I was a child, I loved his movies. I was loyal enough to try to stay awake with him on Labor Day weekends. As a teenager, I had a photo of him on my bedroom wall next to pictures of The Beatles, Hendrix, Zappa, Astaire & Rogers, etc. My siblings tease me to this day, tell me I was a French orphan our parents took in. I know Mr. Lewis is accused of low-brow non-humor, of ruining Gore Vidal's delicious satire Visit To A Small Planet among other things, but it was my fault. People like me laughed at every silly thing he did, preventing him from becoming the thoughtful actor he was meant to be. He was terrific in The King Of Comedy, and he might have done more serious roles like that sooner, but he thought I still wanted comic mayhem. I helped squelch his talent, and I can't even bring myself to list him as a favorite actor (or director!) anymore. The shame. I don't deserve your compliments.
Super Jerry

I don't know if they're inspired collaborators or auteurs, and I don't always care who directed a picture. I'm not familiar with the complete works of any of my favorite directors (except Chaplin, maybe), can't judge their careers--but I do like to list the films that really made me pay attention.

I'm sorry. I forgot the rule was only one guess per clue. I withdraw that.

Hello. Sounds like Scaramouche.
-
There are a few movies not yet mentioned that I consider noir and like very much:
Klute, Night Moves, Who'll Stop The Rain, One False Move, Devil In A Blue Dress, A Simple Plan, Jackie Brown, and the beautiful sci-fi Gattaca.

FrankGrimes--Thank you. Richard Widmark is great, an underrated actor--and he's still with us, so I hope TCM pays tribute to him soon. I think the Academy of Motion Pictures A&S members have saluted him, but they owe him an Oscar. He always seemed like a decent man with the great courage and talent to play seriously evil characters. I like Dan Duryea and Gloria Grahame, too. More reluctant cuts from my longer list. I first noticed Widmark and Duryea in westerns, if I remember right.

Nice snark! What does the artist know about his own artistic vision, anyway? Well done, jarhfive.

"Blues In The Night"! Oh, I love that. I'm sorry, I get so carried away once I start listing favorites. Thank you for your kind words.

I think it's Loie Fuller, a pioneer in modern dance and stage lighting.

This is the only film credit I can find for her in the TCM database. It has almost no information. Maybe there's more at IMDb.

Wasn't that KIMPUNKROCK? It was great to see her, listen to her talk about Humphrey Bogart getting a chance to laugh onscreen.

This WAS interesting! I admire both of these artists, would never have connected the two. What lovely, amusing memories of Betty Hutton. Thank you.
-
Thank you for the explanation. I'd like to believe studio heads know how precious their old movies are, that there are vaults somewhere full of carefully-preserved, pristine film prints. Wishful thinking.

You're welcome. I just hope you have some healthy skepticism when working with this sort of information. I gave the link to the page of demographic data for the TCM website, since I thought that was what you wanted; but, as you may have already noticed, the figures for the site, the forums, TCM Underground and TCM in general vary considerably. They all seem like rough estimates. Good luck with your project!

They really were adorable. More photos and a little info at the links. That TIME article has some interesting tidbits--Billy wore glasses. They liked to make stink bombs with their chemistry set. One day, inspired by Gulliver's Travels, the boys tied their sleeping father to his chair. Twins!! At last count, we had three sets of them in my family, and they're all good-natured pranksters. Rest in peace, beautiful brothers.
