When I first started to watch TCM - my mother said the first male movie icon she had a crush on (when very young) was FARLEY GRANGER in Roseanna McCoy.She told me how she and her pre-teen friends squealed with excitement when they saw him.
Although I am a MITCHUM fan....I can imagine the excitement mom saw in Granger, as I saw it as soon as I saw Robert Mitchum years ago, when I first started to watch TCM.
RE: duplicate "RIP's" on TCM....I have known them to nearly ALWAYS give some sort of tribute (depending on the status of the star) when one of the living has "passed". I think they should give the "living" attention, (i.e. Star of the Month, etc.) NOW - while they, their families, etc. can see how "they" were back then.
ONE OTHER POINT: I don't understand how the people chosen to be given "Tributes" when the "classic" period (especially the "friends" of TCM) have passed (RIP - all of you). Aside from the "short notification",aka the "day" tribute of movies so often associated with TCM actors and other TCM persona from their "periods" - why is it nearly all are given days, but a few not. For example: last year nothing for K.Grayson. This year - nothing for Jane Russell.
Well - thank all of you who have gone on for the enjoyment you have given us, and may all RIP!
