Why does the U.S. sometimes appear to be the only Western democracy where a significant part of the population assumes that capitalism and egalitarianism simply must be mutually exclusive? Because in some other capitalist countries, they aren't.

No one dressed up as a super hero to serenade me! If I'd known you'd feel that way, I would happily have dressed up as Wonder Woman to serenade you!

*The Adventures of Robin Hood* looks great on Blu-Ray, by the way. -
Armida was in *Border Cafe* with J. Carrol Naish

Mitchum seemed so at ease in front of the camera. *Angel Face* is a great noir and another of my favourite Mitchum movies. TCM shows it every now and then, and it's also available in a sharp-looking DVD from WHV.

Finally caught this great WW2 movie, with a great cast: Michael Caine, Robert Duvall, Donald Sutherland, Treat Williams, Anthony Quayle. It's well-paced, intriguing and keeps you totally immersed throughout, to the surprising ending. They also came up with a great excuse for Michael Caine to be able to speak with a proper British accent even though his character is actually a German.

And I thought the point of the movie was (at least partly) to show us the kind of man he was before he got to the White House.

It was a rhetorical question. And if what you had to say was not intended to be read by anybody else, then why not send a PM? -
