  1. *Man in the Attic* is showing Monday morning. Anyone here planning to watch it or record it? Those who have seen it before, what did you think?
  2. Well if imdb can be trusted on this, it's a Columbia release, so there's still a chance TCM might show it at some point. It doesn't sound like a bad movie.
  3. Can you call Domino's? It's a nice day for pizza. B-)
  4. Is that a hint so I'll offer to buy you lunch?

  6. Anyone else a fan of Stanley Donen and the films he directed, starting out at MGM? This Sunday's schedule is obviously all about Gene Kelly, but of course it includes three movies he co-directed with Donen: *On The Town*, *Singin' in the Rain* and *It's Always Fair Weather*. But of course, Donen went on to have a nice career as a director, with such wonderful films as *Charade*, *The Grass is Greener*, *Two for the Road* and the underrated *The Little Prince*. What is your favourite Stanley Donen movie?

  9. > {quote:title=rohanaka wrote:}{quote} > You know as great as all those old Disney classics are, this one (Snow White) really does have some frightening moments in it-I still have not let my 5 yr old watch it because I know she can't handle it yet. In fact, when they started advertising the new movie that came out last year (Enchanted) she kept saying how much she wanted to see it (because she LOVES the whole princess thing) but I did not take her to the theater because I'd seen enough of the previews to know they "borrowed" from snow white to make the animated portions with the evil queen--I am sure it was a "tribute" to the classic story) But I did buy the DVD so we could watch and fast forward through the scary parts if needed--and as it turns out--I was right on the money--she did not want to watch once the rotten old witch showed up. She loved everything else--but the evil queen was OUT! > > Message was edited by: rohanaka I guess it DOES make it a bit easier when you're showing them to your kids in DVD. You know what other moment was really scary for me as a kid? Remember the scene in Richard Donner's *Superman* where the detectives are following Ned Beatty's character into the subway tunnels? Remember what Lex does to one of them with the hydraulic wall? Yes, that moment gave me quite the fright at the time. It definitely kept me away from subway tunnels.
  10. Did you know that Esther Williams always sang in the shower?
  11. It's a shame Sean was never offered the part, I would have loved a Tarzan with a Scottish brogue.
  12. Well, TCM also stands for Tongjitang Chinese Medicines Co. (and it trades on the NYSE) http://finance.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=NYSE:TCM

  14. Well, maybe she was good at hiding in plain sight.

Why should the Disney critters?
  18. Well if he has never been honoured in SUTS, I hope he'll get his day in August 2009.
  19. With any luck, it might some day become an amazon.com Gold Box special and sell for $99.99.

It might be old history to some but he did win 5 gold and one bronze medal in swimming plus his other acheivements. Being Tarzan is minor in comparison but did help in fame and stardom. It's a good point, hamradio. I do wish TCM would honour him.
