If you watch enough of a film to know you don't like it, you can stop watching. Surely you don't need someone else to tell you this, do you?

William H. Macy was in *Mystery Men* with Lena Olin

Was it the first Dreyer movie you've seen?

I wish DirecTV included TV-5 Monde but to the best of my knowledge, it does not.

My bad, I was half-asleep when I posted that. It's still darn good news, I think, more incentives for classic film fans to go Blu-Ray in time for the holidays.

Some film fans (myself included) are actually very glad that TCM will show even the weaker films that mark actors' or directors' career, especially when they are not available on DVD. A film like *The Cobweb*, as unsuccessful as it ultimately is, is nonetheless of great interest to some either because it's a Vincente Minnelli movie, or because of Richard Widmark or Lauren Bacall, etc. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

I have Anthony Mann's 'The Fall of the Roman Empire', 'Lady L', 'The Millionairess', 'It Started in Naples', and 'Legend of the Lost'. Mann's El Cid and Houseboat interest me." > > Hi there Frank. Those films are good starts. I've heard Sophia never looked more beautiful than she did in "El Cid." There are other films of her that I'm much more familiar with, but when you get around to watching these, it'll give you some idea of what folks have been talking about with Sophia for the last fifty years. She's good. And her beauty... > > Playtime, huh? Awww Frank. ;-) Frank you may also want to check out *Two Women* the movie for which Sophia won an Oscar. It's in PD hell in the U.S. so it may be hard to find a good looking copy, although the one they show on TCM from time to time doesn't look so bad.

I think it might seem slow to some now, but it probably didn't to audiences in the early 30's.

That is actually a very good idea. I wonder if anyone besides BVHV might try it. I would love to buy a BR/DVD combo of *Beetlejuice* and *A Nightmare Before Christmas*. I'm sure a lot of other people would too. And in a sign that pricing strategies are making BR more affordable, I checked amazon.com not too long ago and found that the BR version of *A Clockwork Orange* is actually a few dollars cheaper than the regular DVD.

I think it's one of Dreyer's most interesting films, actually. His command of cinematic technique is quite astonishing considering it was his first talkie.
