It can't be good for their ratings! :-)
Heh heh, that's what TiVo is for.

*Amazon says, "You know you want a Blu-ray player."*
Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 03:00 PM ET
Tags: Amazon, High-Def Retailing (all tags)
Amazon is once again dangling a tempting incentive in front of it's target Blu-ray audience, this time offering your choice of players and a bundle of eight movies for $80.
The offer started today, and gives customer the choice of two qualifying Sony Blu-ray players, either the BDP-S300 ($379) or the Playstation 3 40GB ($399).
After adding the preferred player to their carts, customers can then select the Blu-ray 8-pack Starter Set for $80. The set includes 'Black Hawk Down,' 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen,' 'Dogma,' 'A Few Good Men,' 'Life of Brian,' 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse,' and 'The Fifth Element' coming out to a total savings of 65%. If any of our readers have been holding out for a good time to jump into the realm of Blu-ray, this could be it.
No word on how long this Blu-ray player/starter pack offer will last, but the site says it's available for a "limited time," so our guess is that the clock is ticking.

Addicted, you say? Oh, my! I would have never guessed.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot - the Examiner guy forgot to mention that *I Dood It* is not yet available on DVD.

*Turner Classic Movies pick for July 10, 2008: All About Eve*
?All About Eve,? TCM, Thursday, July 10, 11:45 p.m. (EST)
Since the early days of the film industry, there were numerous satirical plays lampooning Hollywood, including ?Merton of the Movies,? ?Once in a Lifetime? and ?Boy Meets Girl.? ?All About Eve,? which won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1950, was widely regarded as Hollywood?s payback to the theater.
A sharp, sophisticated dissection of the Broadway theater community, ?All About Eve? tells the story of veteran stage actress Margo Channing (Bette Davis) and Eve Harrington (Anne Baxter), the young service widow Margo takes under her wing as her personal assistant.
To most of Margo?s circle of friends ? her fianc?, director Bill Simpson (Gary Merrill); playwright Lloyd Richards (Hugh Marlowe); Lloyd?s wife, Karen (Celeste Holm); and producer Max Fabian (Gregory Ratoff) ? Eve seems to be the loyalist of companions, but Margo and her maid, Birdie (Thelma Ritter), begin to suspect that Eve is a compulsive liar who is using Margo as a stepping stone to an acting career of her own. (Mary Orr, author of the short story the script was taken from, based it on an actual event from German actress Elizabeth Bergner?s life.)
Oscars also went to Joseph L. Mankiewicz for Best Direction and Screenplay and George Sanders for Best Supporting Actor. As waspish theater critic Addison DeWitt, Sanders steals the show with the help of the best lines from the script?s acidic, biting dialogue. (Confronting a drunken, hostile Margo, Addison smoothly purrs, ?Dear Margo, You were an unforgettable Peter Pan. You must play it again soon.?)
And, yes, that's a young Marilyn Monroe as Addison's mistress, Miss Caswell.

I dunno, I didn't notice anything like you described, but if there was any problem with the sound, I'd say give Elvis a little break, maybe he's never done that kind of stuff before.

The whole wardrobe from Dick Tracy sure was colorful

I've mixed feelings about Richard Schickel's skills as a documentary maker, but I'm still looking forward to this documentary and other special stuff to celebrate WB's 85th anniversary.

I'm really not sure, I just read that on dvdreview.com, but they offered no additional details. Hopefully, it will NOT turn out to be the last set of Looney Tunes.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned Judy Garland's dress & slippers from *The Wizard of Oz*... :0

*Looney Tunes good news and bad*
Warner Home Video has been putting out fantastic sets with the Looney Tunes Golden Collection sets and will continue to do so with Looney Tunes Golden Collection 6 later this year.
The new set will contain a total of 75 shorts on 4 DVDs, set up through the categories Looney Tunes All Stars, Patriotic Pals, Bosko, Buddy & Merrie Melodies and Most Requested Assorted Nuts.
The bonus material has not been announced yet, but will likely continue in the tradition of the previous Looney Tunes Collections. The bad news? Volume 6 appears to be the final Golden Collection release from Warner Bros.
The final set arrives on October 21st and will retail for $64.92.

Turner Classic Movies pick for July 9, 2008: I Dood It
POSTED July 8, 5:40 PM
?I Dood It,? TCM, Wednesday, July 9, 10 p.m. (EST)
The 1943 MGM musical comedy ?I Dood It? is a unique collaboration between two of Hollywood?s funniest comedians: Buster Keaton and Red Skelton.
By the time Skelton arrived at MGM in 1940, Keaton had been demoted to gag writer. Keaton saw much of his younger self in Skelton and became his mentor, contributing to the scripts of several of Skelton?s films.
Directed by Vincente Minnelli (his second film), ?I Dood It? is a reasonably faithful remake of Keaton?s last silent film, ?Spite Marriage? (1929), with Skelton performing the visual comedy routines originally executed by Keaton.
Skelton is tailor?s assistant Joe Reynolds who is infatuated with Broadway star Connie Shaw (played by dancer Eleanor Powell). When the man Shaw loves becomes engaged to another woman, she retaliates by accepting Joe?s proposal of marriage although she doesn?t share his affection.
The highlight of ?I Dood It? occurs when, on their wedding night, Connie accidentally drinks the mickey she intended for Joe. For ten glorious minutes, Skelton and Powell recreate the classic wordless slapstick routine from the original in which Joe struggles to get Connie?s inert body into bed.
The main differences between the two versions are the musical numbers added for Powell and the changing of the story?s villains from bootlegging gangsters to Nazi spies. ?I Dood It? is a must-see for fans of both Keaton and Skelton.

Now, if you could only please stop creating diversions every time that CK posts so many of his usual useless threads....

Thank you!

It's actually near the top of page 2...

You don't really need to "live in here" to notice something that was posted earlier in the day and that's still just in page 2.
Of course it would make things a lot easier if there weren't so many duplicate posts....

Don't tell me... you didn't notice that I'd posted this exact same thing earlier TODAY?
Look, there's a very simple reason many of us have asked certain posters not to keep spamming information that's already been posted.... it just makes it harder to scroll through and read up on whatever you may have missed.

Since when is Jonathan Frakes considered a "movie star"?!?!? :0
You don't think the Star Trek movies made him a "star" do you?
