  1. Just a quick heads-up, for those who have the Encore Western channel, that *Westbound* (the only Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott western not on DVD) will be showing tonight at 9:30pm ET: http://www.starz.com/titles/Westbound
  2. Barbara Stanwyck was in *Double Indemnity* with _Fred MacMurray_
  3. I take it you attended the screening, filmlover? Take any photos? Anyway, I'm pretty excited about it being released on blu-ray.

Nice to see *Rio* , too, one of the few Carmen Miranda films TCM is able to show. Now *there* is someone I would really like to see get a day of "Summer Under the Stars". Carmen Miranda, I mean. Obviously it couldn't happen without Fox being willing to lease some of their films to TCM. She's never been honoured in SUTS, has she?

  6. Judy Holliday was in *The Solid Gold Cadillac* with _Paul Douglas_
  7. *Lord of the Rings: Return of the Ring* nw: aphrodisiac
  8. Noah Beery Great Myrna Loy photo, by the way!
  9. > {quote:title=ChipHeartsMovies wrote:}{quote} > I'm fine with remakes as long as we still have the originals. > > Sensibly, though, why not remake movies that had potential but were rotten in their original making --- I'm thinking Elizabeth Taylor's *Boom!* , or in fact most of what Elizabeth Taylor did in the late 60's and early 70's. Or cheesy things like *Flowers in the Attic* . You actually sat through *Boom!* ? You have my sympathies. Seriously, your idea is very good. Ideally, they should be remade by directors with a unique vision and a sensibility that is right for the project, not simply as a result of a corporate decision, to be handed to any hack director who'll do it just for the paycheck.
  10. Tommy Noonan was in *A Star is Born* with _Jack Carson_
  11. This is my favourite Huey Lewis & The News video: The movie sure brings back some fun memories. It really did seem like *the* movie event of 1985.
  12. happyjackfan, I'm surprised TCM Programmer didn't see this thread or didn't get a chance to respond. We'll find out for sure tomorrow which version they'll be showing, so I hope it is the complete version.
  13. Easy Living is one of my favorite comedies. I really love the scene where Arnold and Arthur are arguing in the car when they first meet and also how he get's so exasperated with his family. My favourite scene in *Easy Living* would be the one in the Automat when Milland's character gets into trouble. I started a thread a while back asking for impressions of people who had actually eaten in an automat, when they were still all over the place. *Did you ever eat at an old-fashioned automat?* http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?messageID=8142253
  14. Dorothy Malone was in *The Tarnished Angels* with Robert Stack
  15. Hunter, Sheriff Layne - Lou Tellegen in *3 Bad Men*
  16. > {quote:title=CelluloidKid wrote:}{quote} > None...since most Re-makes suck!! Not all remakes are bad: *The Wizard of Oz* (1939), *The Maltese Falcon* (1941) and *Waterloo Bridge* (1940) were all remakes of earlier movies. More recently, Martin Scorsese's *The Age of Innocence* is arguably a better movie than the old RKO version (which has been shown on TCM). A remake that I'm really looking forward to is Tim Burton's live-action *Alice in Wonderland*, which has been made into a movie before both as live-action and as an animated feature.
  17. Farlan, Abraham - Raymond Massey in *A Matter of Life and Death*
  18. > {quote:title=visualfeast wrote:}{quote} > Judging by the title and the image, I'd say the film is about the first female to get breast implants. :0
  19. The ultimate irony, of course, is that *Be Kind Rewind* was never released in VHS.
  20. Joan was in *Johnny Guitar* with _Ernest Borgnine_
  21. Harold S. Bucquet directed *Young Dr. Kildare* starring _Lionel Barrymore_
  22. Nica, If you're into social-network sites, you might also want to check out this TCM fansite: http://tcmfans.ning.com (I'm a network creator) You can keep a profile page with favourite photos, videos, or start a blog.
