Debra Messing and Elsa Lanchester

You're right but Doris Day did the same thing. I like them both though.

Brothers - Van Heflin, Arthur Kennedy
Mother/Daughter - Sylvia Sidney, Marcia Mae Jones

Natalie Wood and Lesley Ann Warren, early in her career

Rita Hayworth, Ann Sheridian
Alice Faye, Mary Beth Hughes

Gale Sondergaard and Maria Ouspenskaya. I don't know why. They were in different age groups but I confuse the both of them.

I can certainly see why the person thinks of John Wayne that way. I myself like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers more. But check out Lady takes a Chance. He's in a romantic role in it. It shows John was capable of more when he was given the chance.

I like the Coen brothers but you never know. I said the same thing about Tim Burton with Planet of the Apes and it showed me.

No the person's right. There were several versions of The Scarlet Letter during the time. One starred Colleen Moore and another Lillian Gish.

You bet. It would be great to see Mary Miles Minter films. She is an actress who never got her due.

George Romero better be making a lot of money for this.

I like the B and W look. It makes look more moody. But I have to admit when I was starting out in cinema I had this foolish idea too.

Just as long as it's not The Alamo. Not thrilling enough for a beginner. I started in a generic way with the Clint Eastwood movies, Good, Bad, and the Ugly.

Nope I'm 20, have been watching and studying movies old, foreign, everything about for 10 years. My website to see. www.geocities.com/bethiejw/index.html

I'll check into it. Thanks

Yes they can be compared. This post has upset me.

I agree we should and that should start by releasing the movies of the people you mentioned. I didn't mean to come across as bad. Sorry.

What's the point for starting a fight? I am a person and I do have feelings. You're misreading me. Don't jump so close to conclusions. I generally was interested in what she said and just checked out all of the names she mentioned only there's a dilemma they're not on video.

Oh please now that's just insulting. Okay maybe not a new post I don't know. That was uncalled for.

I agree the race card in this was unnecessary. What she should have done was start another post about the era's black beauties. I also didn't like the Dorothy Dandridge bashing. She's not talked about 50 years later for nothing. I did print out the post for the names the woman mentioned though as I was unaware of them. She should have taken a different approach.

I agree. Leni Reifenstahl is cited to be an influential documentary maker. She deserves kudos.

Funny I'd asked for a refund. Same thing happened to me when I bought the movie It with Clara Bow. I got Stephen King's It. Quite a contrast

They know Alec in a way...Star Wars.

Tom Hanks playing Alec Guiness part. Why did they remake what is already a classic?

Charlize Theron- Classic Beauty Type?

Charlize Theron does have a classic beauty but she doesn't have the comic spunk required to play Marion Davies. She's a good dramatic actress I'm not denying that. If she ever does comedy I imagine it will be laid back, hopefully not tasteless too.
