Boris claims that putting forward alternate, or fraudulent electors is not against the law, but according to the law.  He also triples down on the Big Lie.

You can't make this stuff up.  Trump has an actual Russian lawyer? Named Epsteyn??? This sounds like that - "My name is not Igor it is Egor" joke from Young Frankenstein. It appears that the Trump team thinks our election laws are a racket to be exploited.

I’ve confirmed that all those songs that have supposedly prevented this from streaming thus far  are all intact.   I wonder what’s changed. Hopefully a Criterion release isn’t far behind.

I was surprised that Goodbar has never had a region one  DVD/Blu release. It is certainly a product of its time. I also think this is likely to be picked up by Criterion if it is picked up by anybody.

French Connection is a Fox film. Fox is owned by Disney. Disney wants to preserve its image. So they will cut anything that does not fit with that image fro.m any film

This probably is an issue of Disney giving them a cut edition of the film.  For some reason, for the last ten years, Disney has been stuck in a mode where they almost always churn out cinematic oatmeal, due to their over caution regarding their legacy. They have infected everything they touch - the Marvel films, the Star Wars franchise, and even Pixar.  They are so cautious they have become mediocre. And that has become their legacy at this point in time - mediocrity.

Apparently if things end up in litigation it is important to show that every civil effort was made before the stakes were upped.

Could be. I know that a Congressional committee subpoenaing other sitting members of Congress is uncharted legal water. And things will end up in litigation in the case of any members of the Trump family being subpoenaed, because Trump has always used litigation to drag things out.

With regards to crime;   I'm watching T.V. and my program is interrupted because there was a police chase of a guy who had stolen a motorcycle.   This is breaking-news here in So Cal.  (NOT IMO).     They show the motorcycle going over 80 mph on city streets.   The police call off the chase to protect the public.

Anyhow,   the motorcycle is zipping between cars.     I yell at the T.V.:     hey bump just die so I can get back to my program!

Only 2 seconds after I yelled,  he hits a car straight on,  and goes flying in the air.       The station quickly returned to my program.    Later on the news said he had died.

    I guess I should feel bad,,,,,  but I don't.

(oh and it is  good the police called off the chase;  otherwise this clown's family would sue the city and police department for causing the death of their clown).

Back in the 90s Directv gave us the local LA channels for some reason. There was always some program being interrupted for live helicopter coverage of a fleeing suspect - sometimes crashing, running, hijacking a second vehicle, crashing that one, running through backyards.

'Did you tell your father to stop the riot?' Jan. 6 riot committee calls Ivanka Trump to TESTIFY - days after NY AG claimed to have found 'significant evidence' of tax fraud case against family

Ivanka Trump will be called to testify by committee investigating Jan. 6 riot

The House committee investigating the January 6th insurrection in the Capitol has asked Ivanka Trump to voluntarily come and speak with them about what she saw that day. 'You will anticipate the committee inviting some people to come talk to us,' Rep. Bennie Thompson told reporters on Capitol Hill on Thursday, adding, 'not lawmakers right now - Ivanka Trump.'  It's the second blow to Ivanka this week after New York's attorney general went after the former first daughter for being given the option to buy a luxury NYC apartment from the Trump Organization for a third of the value listed on company financial statements.

Question - Why all of these invitations??? Why not just start out with a subpeona?

According to Michael Cohen and others NY has everything they need in the form of documents.  Securing a testimony is like offering someone the chance to comment before you go to press.

    Time will tell.

OK, that makes more sense. Is that unusual? I've never heard of that being done before. But of course that doesn't mean that it isn't done all of the time.

New York AG Letitia James seeks court order for a subpoena to force Trump, Don Jr and Ivanka to answer questions under oath: Claims they gave 'fraudulent' valuations of their assets to get loans

'We found fraud at the Trump Organization': New York AG seeks subpoena for Trump, Don Jr

Letitia James, the New York attorney general, on Tuesday announced she was asking a court to subpoena Trump, Don Jr and Ivanka as part of her tax fraud inquiry into the Trump Organization. She said her team had, since they began their inquiry in March 2019, found substantial signs of financial wrongdoing. 'We have uncovered significant evidence indicating that the Trump Organization used fraudulent and misleading asset valuations on multiple properties to obtain economic benefits,' she said. Trump has not responded, but has called James's investigation a politically-motivated witch hunt, and in December sought legally to block it.

Question: How can you compel someone to testify if they invoke their rights under the fifth amendment?

Just two days ago the Major of San Jose (the 10th most populated city in the USA),  wrote an editorial for the L.A. Times.

It was all about two new gun-control type laws the city will be passing;  One requires insurance for all gun-owners.     The hope is that insurance companies would offer discounts for those that store their gun in locked gun cases and other means to make it harder for children in the home to get the guns.   There was logic there.    The other law was making gun-owners pay into a fund that would assist those harmed by gun violence (this one will surely be  un-constitutional).

Anyhow he admit that there would be little impact on gun violence by criminals  (but he started his rant with the Texas hostage event this week; i.e. a crime by a criminals in another state).

To me this sound like he is tryin to avoid the increase in crimes by criminals by saying "well I'm protecting children from the guns owned by their parents".   Hey, the latter might be something that needs to be addressed since death by gun is the #2 cause for children),   but it clearly isn't a priority in that city or any major city in the USA.   Crime by criminals, especially murder,  is.

Yep.  The main problem with the latest wave of crime is that it is largely non-violent theft, so preventing gun violence really doesn't play into it at all. There has been a rise in violent crime too, but it is small compared to the tsunami of ordinary theft.

I am so disappointed in the programming lately.  Why so many repeats and virtually unknown movies. Why can't you show some really good movies like, Keys to the Kingdom, So Big, The Fighting Sullivans,? the one where all five boys go to war. I love TCM but lately haven't watched any of the movies they show.

Hmm. If you don't like repeats OR virtually unknown movies, then you must only want movies that are somewhat unknown and not shown very often?

There was a DVD set put out a few years ago by Flicker Alley entitled "A Modern Musketeer" that had a bunch of Fairbanks' films where he had a modern dress role. It is worth picking up and watching if you can't find the films streaming.

Joe Biden's Latest Gaffe Has People Talking

Well he certainly thinks a lot of his Vice President! President Joe Biden slipped and called his second-in-command, Kamala Harris, "President Harris," while speaking to a group of college students in Atlanta, Georgia this week (via Daily Mail). He suffered the same slip of the tongue last month.

You can watch the viral gaffe on YouTube in a video published by Forbes. It did not appear that Biden realized that he had called Harris "President" in his remarks. Of course, Twitter noticed, and interestingly, many people had a surprising reaction to the leader's flub.

"I'm fully supportive of a future #PresidentHarris," one Twitter user commented. "Uh.... did he just say #PresidentHarris? I mean, it's okay with me," seconded another person, while someone else tweeted, "I like the sound of that! #PresidentHarris." "I'm good with #PresidentHarris," yet another person declared, while another individual opined, "#PresidentHarris does have a fine ring to it."

Of course, not everyone was as excited that Biden didn't realize he'd referred to the Veep as "President Harris."

After President Biden referred to his number two as "President Harris" in a speech for the second time in a month, plenty of Twitter users were excited by the prospect of the first female VP ascending to the top job (via Republic World).

But other users on the social media platform were ready to pounce, with critics weighing in in droves. "#DementiaJoe is confused again. People should call DC's APS and report this obvious elder abuse," tweeted one person, while another observer called the mixup, "pathetic."

"Biden is so Senile, during his speech in Georgia, he just called Kamala #PresidentHarris again," another person slammed the 79-year-old.

    *************************************************

His brain batteries keep getting weaker by the day, soon he will be calling her the pope.

I really think that is just a gaffe, like when he said 2020 instead of 2022. Biden knows what year it is and that he is the president. What he says repeatedly that has me worried is that he thinks Build Back Better would decrease inflation. In what economy ever did unleashing a trillion dollars on the demand side without increasing supply lead to anything other than more inflation? This indicates that probably his entire administration believes this, which does worry me.

Pretty much the entire USA. Criminals just continue to break the law and after the small inconvenient court appearance are just sent home without consequence. I know, have family members in local law enforcement AND criminal courts.

Hasn't anyone noticed all the crazy driving the past year? No one cares, no one gets stopped. The few Police on duty are busy handling random fights & shootings.

I've personally been "baited" by cars trying to get me to hit them so they can extort money either from the driver or insurance. Philly is having a rash of that & carjackings.

I have noticed this trend of crazy drivers since the pandemic. I live in Northern Virginia, and overall it has a pretty affluent and rather pandemic proof economy. There are lots of federal government employees and defense contractor employees. I don't think any crazy drivers I've seen in this area are trying to bait anybody. I just think the continued social isolation of the pandemic has made drivers less concerned about others. The thing I wonder about is - as I see them driving on shoulders and changing lanes without looking - aren't they concerned about themselves? Even if it is a minor car crash and nobody is injured, just how do they think they are going to fix their cars with no parts with which to do it? If their car is totaled their insurance payout is not going to begin to cover replacement cost.

You know, the minute anyone puts a divisive label on a statement, I tune out. (black/white/dems/repubs/men/women)It's like a swear word, lazy & "bait"-ing.

But the looting trend is disturbing to those trying to keep business' afloat, just the new opportunistic Mob. These organized crimes are allowed to happen because:

    1. Police Departments are understaffed just like every other business/company/organization
    2. Police no longer have support & backing to do their job safely

I never watch Inside Edition, but was intrigued when I saw this suggested. Interesting concept using technology to control loss rather than people.

Anything to keep those made-in-China tool prices cheap.

Another reason for this trend, other than the police, are the so called "woke" prosecutors that have been elected in large cities in the past few years who have it as part of their platform not to enforce the law. And people actually voted for their nonsense. One thing that several of them have done is to plead  theft as opposed to robbery down to trespassing in every case. In some cases below some arbitrary amount no charges are filed at all.  Word of this gets around and the criminals consider it open season in that jurisdiction. I have no idea if this is the case in San Jose, but it is definitely the case in LA county.

  16. "The U.S. Supreme Court rejected, 8-1, a request by former President Donald Trump to stop the release of presidential records pursued by the January 6 Committee, dealing a major blow to Trump’s months-long campaign to keep the records about the Capitol attack away from investigators.

The presidential records are currently housed at the National Archives and Records Administration and with Wednesday’s order from the high court, that means that transmission of the documents to the committee could begin as soon as this evening.

The Supreme Court refused to consider Trump’s appeal of two lower court rulings that, ultimately, found the public interest well outweighed Trump’s interest to keep Congress, and America, in the dark.

The only justice to dissent Wednesday was Justice Clarence Thomas."

You know, there are some hard-core TCM ARCHIVISTS On these boards, and every now and then someone will post the schedule of The very first week ever of TCM from, what? 1994? And THE LEGEND OF LYLAH CLARE is on it.

And I have to question this choice because as a fledgling cable network, I would like to think that you’re wanting to prove to your audience “look there’s a reason for us to be here” and “these are the kind of films we’re going to bring you on a regular basis”.

..and I just don’t think it was right to bring LYLAH out QUITE so early in their run.  They *really* should’ve saved it for after they’ve been on the air for a couple of years.
