Nice right-up. I recorded the evening of tv shows, but haven't had a chance to watch them yet. Looking forward to the opportunity.
-
Seems like a good example of the discussion on that other thread, about letting these die a natural death.
-
I love Magnani and I love.MAMA ROMA. Must be a Colhmbus Day tribute.
-
And of course said actress was on all day today.
-
I must be tired right now, but am I correct.to remember a recent (2-3 years ago) DARK SHADOWS movie, an update of the series, with Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper(!). Or was it an update of some other tv show or movie?

Marilyn Monroe for [Insert month here] SOTM!
Arturo replied to speedracer5's topic in General Discussions
Nothing less.than an entire month for Marilyn, I agree. She has done enough films,.so if TCM.can get some of her Fox films, on top of the usuaal suspects, it should be totally doable. -
All.enjoyable films.featuring our (hopefully) future SOTM.

In other words, an Earth Goddess.

The foreign and malevolent waves of spam.seemed to have scrubbed the data used to tabulate the last list. In any case, two or three of the titles got enough hits to have made it a second day onto the Top Ten. 1. RABY GENTRY 2. THE KENNEL MURDER CASE 3. ASTAOLLO 13 4. PARVO MY SARONG 5. LIFE BEGINS AT EIGHT OUNCES 6. ASTA HOLMES IN THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES 7. A TEAT OF ONE'S OWN 8. HUMP ALL THE MEN AND A GIRL 9. THEY SPAY ******, DON'T THEY 10. THE YELLOWED ROLLS ROYCE

Veronica.Lake did not cut her hair.when the War Dept. requested it. Rafher, she pulled it back, or put it up, thereby diminishing.one of her best.known trademarks. Later, in the late 40s, after the Lake vogue, she cut he hair, but because that was the style of the day. It didn't become her.

Anyone else out there feeling withdrawal symptoms, now that September is over, wishing there will be more weekly lineups of Susan Hayward films? Seriously.
-
Yes, it's a nailbiting suspenseful movie.till the end. Btw, I tried to post a new list.yesterday, but my cell was not getting any bars, and it vanished. As I do these on the spot, I will try to remember most of the titles and try again later.
-
And Martha Stewart.can contribute an article on what the well decorated.cell.can look.like, and how to get the look from everyday items lying about.
-
Lol. Except that Hayward's Oscar night gown had one of those full poufy 50s skirts. You can't tell from the photos. The top portion looks similar though.
-
You're referring to Julie London's voice, right?

20th Century Fox Releasing 100 Films in HD
Arturo replied to lydecker's topic in General Discussions
Thanks for posting Lydecker. If I knew how, I would cut and paste in the 20th Century Fox thread over on the New Releases (or whatever it's called) subforum. Thanks again. -
I.missed the.showing the other night. I do remember seeing it as a kid back in the late 70s, on an early cable.channel (Channel Z?), anx liking it. I caught some of Dianne.Carroll's comments.later, and found her.interesting and on target. Let's.get her back.

LINDA DARNELL for Star of the Month October 2013
Arturo replied to Arturo's topic in General Discussions
Thanks for the great clip, Tom, as well as for the information. Yes, I would love to come across the episode with Linda Darnell, since there are so few opportunities for this in the 1960s. Plus she comes across in a live setting as quite charming and even sexy, as her appearance as the Mystery Guest on What's My Line amply demonstrates. That clip may still be on youtube, although the complete half hour show is also on there. Unfortunately, the comment section was deleted, and no comments can be posted. Not sure what happened there, but some of the nasty comments I alluded to re. Linda's death were being posted there the last time I had seen the comment section. So nastiness and censorship are not just on this site. -
LINDA DARNELL for Star of the Month October 2013
Arturo replied to Arturo's topic in General Discussions
Well,.the rescue story is at least plausible, in that it was something that the generous and selfless qualities of Linda might've done. Some of the things I have read online are mean, and even downright evil. -
No Mention of Capitolfest 13 featuring Nancy Carroll

This makes me wish I lived in Upstate New York, if only for a short time each August. -
Marilyn Monroe for [Insert month here] SOTM!
Arturo replied to speedracer5's topic in General Discussions
Yes I saw that special, and the truncated version of SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE. I have it recorded on a vhs somewhere. Totally agree she looks beautiful, relaxed.and thinner than she had in awhile. Too bad she couldn't finish it. I'm wondering if it comes as an extra on a Monroe dvd. I would hope that if TCM did have an MM SOTM, that they would show this footage. -
HITS & MISSES: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow on TCM
Arturo replied to Bogie56's topic in General Discussions
It.seems that.they are.later Hope films,.from the 1960s. I love THE HAUNTING,.and agree that.Claire Bloom is the best reason to watch it.
