  1. On Monday, TNT spent most of the day running old Man From UNCLE shows. I guess they can foray into the world of TV whenever they want. So, why not show better things like The Day After, Gideon's Trumpet, The Winds Of War, SOS Titanic, and many others? Lynda.
  2. I found a site where someone was selling copies of several old miniseries, ones that were burned to DVD from old videotapes that he bought from several people who recorded them off the air. The seller mentioned the quality was "passable" but parts were missing. Again, any fan of classic TV movies/miniseries get the short end of the stick. I'll keep searching but I'm not holding my breath. Lynda
  3. I guess this will be just another unsolved mystery. I wish I could find answers, it seems like everything is on the internet. But, not this, not the 1,000s of tv movies and miniseries that have disappeared. Lynda.
  4. Finding older TV movies on the internet is almost as hard as finding a place to smoke. kultfilms is out of business, a few sites like Amazon offer a few out-of-print TV movies on VHS or DVD for an outrageous price, and if you do happen to find an older TV movie at a fairly decent price, it is a copy of a tape burned to DVD, which is of dubous quality- http://www.superhappyfun.com/forsale.cfm?whereme=1909 for example. And, I can't find a site that tells of the fate of these 1,000s of TV movies. And that''s just sad. Lynda.
  5. I can't find a website that mentions what TV movies and miniseries are available on DVD, or available to cable. IMDB tells the basics about such films, but beyond that, no one seems to have information about these movies and miniseries. I found a Rock Hudson NBC miniseries listed at Blockbuster Online- The Martian Chronicles from 1980, as well as Gideon's Trumpet, But, I have been unable to find anything about the thousands of others. Can anyone offer any help here? All these must be somewhere. Lynda
  6. There are some channels that show an occasional made-for-TV movie, usually of recent vintage- and the Lifetime movie channel hows lots of TV movies- mostly ones that were shown on Lifetime. Encore does show the odd TV flick now and again. Last night I was looking up some of these TV movies at IMDB. It seems that a good many people want these type of movies to be shown on TV again, or released on DVD. It seems like some enterprising person could make money off of a "classic" TV movie channel. Especially since 90%+ of such movies from the 1960's, 1970s, and 1980s aren't available anywhere. And it's 99% for miniseries. For movies made since 1990, the percentage is a bit better, although many of these were made for Lifetime. So, a TV movie channel would be great, even though it could keep my TIVO busy. I hear the FIOS TV is coming. Maybe they will have such a channel. Does anyone know of a great website to find out if any TV movies will be shown in the future and where? The internet is devoid of any substantial amount of TV movie info, other than IMDB. And they don't list cable or DVD availability. So, so we lovers of TV movies are SOL. D

Where are all these movies? Why are we denied the chance to see them again? What a shame! D.
  8. I remember many good movies made for TV- Suddenly Last Summer, Dark Victory, Rockabye baby, See How They Run Mayday at 40,00 Feet, Hijack, Terror At 37,000 Feet, Killdozer, The Alpha Caper. Money To Burn, Magnificent Thief, Cry Panic, Terror On The 40th Floor, Runaway!tion: Murder, Trapped, Deadly Tower, Winds Of War, The Night The Bridge Fell Down, Memphis, By Dawns Early Light, 12:01, Fire!, Wheels- auto industry intrigue, WWIII- terrorists sabatoge the Alaskan Pipeline to start a war. Many well known TV shows started as 2-hour tv-movies. These and many other TV movies are gathering dust somewhere, thousands maybe. TV movies have been around for about 40 years or so and 90% of them haven't seen the light of day in many many years. Why? I would welcome a TV movie day or better yet, a cable channel devoted to showing all those TV movies. Could be a winner. D.
