Travolta's character had left his gun on a counter outside the bathroom. Bruce's character discovered it about the same time Travolta opened the door to leave - PuhPuhPowww!! I believe he fell backward onto the toilet. It has always bothered me that Travolta would have relaxed to the point of becoming a wee bit careless - even in what appeared to be a completely non-threatening environment; but that's when it always comes... isn't it? It almost seemed out of character, but it worked well with the comic book style plot.I have found that my favorite parts were the prologue and epilogue (start and end of the same diner scene) - the rest of the film splits these two apart making us wait for the whole to complete itself. The ending seemed to resolve nicely on it's own apart from the body of the film, which to me works as a whole film all by it's lonesome. I think of it as one feature length and one short (diner) film.
Frankly, all the parts of the movie when Bruce Willis is not onscreen are far less entertaining to me than when he is onscreen.

The "Boards"???
Dude! "Blog" is spelled "B-L-O-G"!
(...try to remember that, will ya?!)
I'm trying to remember that the boards are not supposed to be blogs.
But it's not easy sometimes.

It's been mentioned in several places, in several threads, that there is a feature here that some people feel serves only to cause trouble.
Post counts.
They can be manipulated far too easily for any meaningful value, and yet there are members who insist that they're something at which to point for recognition of some kind.
They seem to be becoming a sore spot with more and more members.
Perhaps it's time to petition for that feature's removal?

Quite a few posts in this thread have been removed. Please remember to keep your discussion civil, and on topic. We do not like closing/removing threads, but if the majority of comments have to be moderated in any fashion, it makes it obvious the thread has passed the point of no return, and it will be be removed.
Please don't allow one single poster to get a thread closed down again. It's too easy for one person to dominate the boards when that's a strategy that works.

My limitations are about to be shown here(and particularly about the issue of alcoholism), but I'll NEVER understand how a guy with talent enough to take his "one foot already in Hollywood's door" life and make a decent and somewhat successful career in it, would find the need to "self-medicate" to such an extreme.
(...saaaay...maybe David REALLY wanted to be a plumber INSTEAD, but Daddy wouldn't hear of it?!!!)
Some people respond to, and process, alcohol differently from other people. That's why you don't understand alcoholics - you aren't one.

The series 'Kung Fu: The Legend Continues' was shot in Toronto.
Co-star Chris Potter lived 2 streets over from me. Big House - biggest in the community. But I never did catch a glimpse of Chris in the real world.
However, in a bar in neighboring Mississauga, I happened in one night to see David Carradine sitting at the bar. He was drunk - and loud. Appeared to be in a surly mood. He left about 10 minutes after I got there.
This friend of mine - Sandra - worked on the show as a location finder. I told her I'd seen David and he was drunk and apparently in a bad mood. She told me, "yeah, he's drunk a lot."
I suspect he was drunk when he accidentally hanged himself.
Still love him. An evil genius of acting.

Yeah I think maybe you're right that it was just Travolta who killed and then "was alive again" in PULP FICTION.
Killed on the toilet, wasn't it?
-
So was Brooke Shields' other early hit, the remake of THE BLUE LAGOON.
Yes - young nudity was a no-no for some people, as was the idea of young sex.
I believe it was her co-star (Ames?) who quipped "this is the first ever children's rights movie."

Thanks for the recommendation, Tom.

I just posted a poem in the "Sappho and Her Friends" thread -- The ****, by Edward Lear. **** is censored! How crazy is that? J u m b l i e s aren't trolls!
I can only assume that whoever set the banned list thinks jumbl ies is a racial term of some kind.
Did you know that the word un couth is banned too? Couth is okay, but you can't have the un in front of it.
-
I cam't think of any justifiable reason why a discussion of what trolling is and how it should be dealt with should not be allowed.
I simply asked what it was in my title. My opening post was entirely reasonable. It said, verbatim:
"I've seen the term used a great deal. I'm wondering if everyone defines it the same way.
Do YOU think a troll is a good thing or a bad thing for a message board?
Do you appreciate what a "troll" brings to a board - or do you revile what it brings?
Have you ever dealt with one? What did you do?"
Why in the world would anyone object to any of that? Unless it was someone who actually doesn't want people to be aware of the phenomenon.

I remember when everyone was having a Hot Spell over the showing of the remastered The Story Of Temple Drake. This movie will end up like that one did, a cold shower.
The Story of Temple Drake??
People were excited over that old thing?

I still think he should take the message to all of the threads with the most views. And daily.
Views don't mean anything. Anyone can bring in a couple of sock puppets and drive their views up to record numbers anytime they want. It's happened a lot with people who wanted something to brag about - in lieu of any actual contributions of which to be proud.
-
Thank goodness it is only a work of fiction
Says the Canadian?
Maybe a trip south of the 49th is in order.

But it is all a red herring. He has a copy of the film. He can watch it at anytime. So the need to see the picture isn't the reason for these threads.
He's fighting the good fight for all our sakes. This picture needs to be seen by more people than himself, and he's trying his hardest to make it happen for us.

from The Dictator (2012)....
General Aladeen: Why are you guys so anti-dictators? Imagine if America was a dictatorship. You could let 1% of the people have all the nation's wealth. You could help your rich friends get richer by cutting their taxes. And bailing them out when they gamble and lose. You could ignore the needs of the poor for health care and education. Your media would appear free, but would secretly be controlled by one person and his family. You could wiretap phones. You could torture foreign prisoners. You could have rigged elections. You could lie about why you go to war. You could fill your prisons with one particular racial group, and no one would complain. You could use the media to scare the people into supporting policies that are against their interests.
Done and done.

I missed it, and apparently some of Dargo's finest work.
Too bad one bad apple has to go and ruin the fun. Shouldn't his or her comments be removed and the thread remain?Yes. It was a really good discussion. Except for the part I couldn't see, apparently.

Too bad this isn't a video chat, Dargs.
Just think how you could make Hibi swoon. All the gals, really.

You missed a good one, Rey. I think it was the most popular thread ever created maybe. Like 50 responses in 15 minutes.
Complete mystery as to why it was taken away. I'm told someone put bombs in it.
That just seems wrong - that a moderator would let a thread be ruined by one person when everyone else was having such a great discussion.
If there's any justice, the moderator will remove whatever the offender said and return the thread to activity.
-
I guess if you have someone on ignore you wouldn't necessarily see the nasty bombs a troll may be planting in your thread, would you? Why wouldn't the moderator just remove those nasty personal remarks instead of shutting down a good discussion?
Oh, I get it now. Wow, they must've been some pretty nasty bombs.
All I saw in the "What is a troll" thread was lots of people having a highly enjoyable discussion.
Were there many bombs - or just one big one?
-
There was a really popular thread called "What is a troll" that, as far as I could see, was very entertaining and informative - people were posting like mad in it.
And then it just disappeared into the cornfield.
Did someone post garbage in it to get it shut down?
-
Yeah, come on you guys, no levity and no star bashing, jeez ... Isn't it about time we became civilized.
Civilized! What are you - some college-educated democrat?

Vive Tor!
Vive Tor!
Vive Tor!
The reason bullfighters exlcaim "Toro!" when they're fighting is in honour of Tor.
They imagine that he is the bull. It's scarier that way.
He is in our lives in more ways than we know.

I'd like to ask - is there any chance that TCM might someday show Antonioni's 'Zabriskie Point'?
I know some people think it's a substandard movie, but that's arguable - as most films are.
I just think it's unfair that there's been an ongoing disallowance against a movie when there's no true basis for that disallowance.

Planned to watch. Fell asleep and missed.
Maybe next time, if there is one.
