Sounds like the beginning of a hilarious joke.
...Two kazoos and a zither walk into a bar...
One of the kazoos says to the bartender.......

Oh - one more I just remembered. I was really young - like 6.
They were shooting an episode of 'Last of the Mohicans' locally - in an area called Mimico Creek. I was with my other grandmother (my Dad's mom) and we saw Lon Chaney Jr. dressed up like Chingichcook.
Very exciting for Nanny. For the rest of her life she'd tell people about seeing the real live Long Chaney. Yes, she thought his name was "Long".

But not that serious. I'm not aware of the existence of a kazoo sonata, or a Concerto for Kazoo and Orchestra (actually I wish there was a Concerto for two Kazoos and Zither, now that would be something.)
Two Kazoos and a Zither.
Great title.

Kazoo music is very underated.
But it's so serious.

Dang, boy..... you belonged in the South USA.
Catholics, ay. Irish on the maternal grandmother's side to boot. She actually had 14 kids but 2 didn't survive birth. My mother was the 3rd born.
-
My mother's family lived on the wrong side of the tracks. A poor family with 12 kids, living in dilapidated housing that would eventually be condemned by the township and torn down. The youngest child in the family was my youngest aunt - who was less than a year older than I - I being the first grandchild. My next youngest aunt was less than 2 years older than me, another less than 3. We all went to school together and Sharon - who failed once - ended up in the same class with me. My aunt.
Anyway, it was a tough family. The seven sons (uncles) were known throughout the town as formidable scrappers. There was some thieving as well. The cops were at the door regularly. One of those uncles - #6 - was not quite all there. A touch of cerebral palsy and severe rage issues if you pushed him.
Around the age of 8 or 9, a fellow started coming around my grandparents house - a friend of this uncle. This uncle didn't have a whole lot of friends, but for a while he had this guy named Mike. Mike always kind've looked like there was something a little bit wrong with him too. Weird face on him. I remember hearing his whole name a few times. "Mike Ironside's coming over","Bob - Mike Ironside's here". That sort of thing. Everyone thought he was as big a loser as Bob.
Eventually the relationship between Mike and Uncle Bob came to an end. The housing was torn down, we all moved on.
Then, in the early 80's, I'm watching a David Cronenberg movie on VHS called 'Scanners'. And there, at the start of the movie, big as life, is that strangely familiar weird face - and he's playing a very scary psychic who causes a man's head to explode into pieces.
When I looked at the credits, I got the confirmation. Mike Ironside from the wrong side of the tracks of west end Toronto had become Michael Ironside, actor.
And a prolific actor at that - who's been in some pretty major productions.
Wonder if he remembers those times in my grandmother's house - me staring at his weird head.

Well, at least they didn't use a kazoo.
Boy, that would've lent a much different feel to the movie, ay?

Yes, enthusiasm is good for the soul ... I think.
And for the heart. I know I'm a very happy camper right now.
So many good people with whom to engage on these boards lately.

I am curious now to know what the correct answer is as to what this chart signifies.
The chart is showing what percentage each country has of worldwide Tor Johnson fan clubs.
Yay, Canada. We love Tor the most.

Has HOT SPELL ever aired on TCM in Canada?
Not to my knowledge.
-
SansFin (who can't use a keyboard at the moment) really wants to know if TCM's programmers get to pick every movie that's shown, or if the studios make up packages of what they want to rent out, leaving the programmers to find slots for movies they'd never have chosen.
Just painted her nails, huh.

So, what's Noir, anyway?
It means black.
Film noir translates to black film or dark film. Not talking about the colour black - talking about the theme(s) embedded in the film's narrative.

On her feet?
No. Those were freckled.

I'm sure there are some I'm missing, but here are a few of the performances I really liked by Warren Oates ...
In the Heat of the Night (1967)
The Wild Bunch (1969)
Two-Lane Blacktop (1971)
Bring Me the Head of Alfonso Garcia (1974)
The Brink's Job (1978)
Oates was such a unique individual - his looks, mannerisms, the way he carried himself, the way he spoke.
So, he fit everything he did somehow. I first turned onto him when he was in the Jack Lord series 'Stoney Burke' in the early 60's. The first movie I remember seeing him in was "Hero's Island' shortly after the Stoney Burke series went off the air. Forever after first seeing him, I would immediately know - that's that Warren guy who always seems a little weasley but I like him.
He grew out of the weasley image - well, I guess he started getting better parts.
Anyway, I love Warren. In everything.
-
It was also turned into a weekly series for television - I think around '66. Starred Roy Thinnes as Ben Quick.
Although it lasted only a season, I liked it a lot. Never missed an episode.

Have you ever tried Rich's brand "CoffeeRich"?
Do they have that in the U.S.?
-
Well, it doesn't have to be said.
You coulda just thought it.

well, trite as it is to say, I think THE BIG SLEEP is one of those rare movies without fault. I was lucky enough to catch the 1975 version of FAREWELL, MY LOVELY on YouTube, & I thought it was absolutely terrific. However, I think the movie has since been pulled and I don't know when I'll get the chance to see it again as I think it is one of those that is embroiled in rights issues.
Robert Mitchum is absolutely terrific in it.
I remember it - saw it 2 or 3 times back in the 70's.
Rights issues. The scourge of every film fan.

that female great white (whatshername?) that's been in the news of late.
Rosie O'Donnell?

Hooray - the links are working again!

Wow. I hadn't clicked on this topic since last evening!
I see a whole bunch of abusive posts have been removed.
Sincere thank you to moderator1. It was getting so sickening I actually couldn't take anymore and had to leave my keyboard for a few hours.
Excellent cleaning job.
