  1. don't be ridic. If Thelma Lou's been "spoiled" by the Barney horse, she should go next to Goober. He'd make her forget Fife right quick. Goober's got the moves, baby.
  2. Thou shalt not start up with your buddy's ex. Every man knows that.
  3. While I'm sure that cult films like 'I Spit on Your Grave', 'Cannibal Holocaust', 'Ilsa', etc. can be considered controversial - they tend to be outside the mainstream exhibition system to begin with. So I'm not certain they qualify. Know what I'm saying? Other mentions previously like 'Snuff' and 'Pink Flamingos', the same point.
  4. Well, it won't help with talking about whales - but we are allowed to write "spermatozoa".
  5. As much as TomJH's nomination of 'Freaks' as the very definition of a controversial film was a great one, I think I just remembered a title that just may qualify as the most controversial movie ever. I mean, there are countries that still have arrest warrants out for people who worked on and in the movie. The full movie is still being suppressed by someone at WB - still being refused a director's cut release. Several documentaries have been issued about the movie - you can go to youtube right now and view a great one in six parts titled "Hell on Earth - The Desecration & Resurrection of The Devils. Talking about, of course - from 1971 - Ken Russell's 'The Devils'
  6. It never occurred to me that 'Anatomy of a Murder' had been controversial. I had no idea. Then again, I was only 9 when it came out - and I don't think I got around to seeing it until I was in my 20's. By then, all the controversy must have dissipated.
  7. That's exactly what I was doing. I don't understand - at all - how Karen Allen got into the movie business to begin with, let alone became a female lead for a little while. She didn't appear to have anything going for her - homely, unhygienic-looking, minimal acting ability - and yet she had a career in the early 80's. Baffles me. And, by the way, answering the title thread with MY example does not constitute a LIST.
  8. I thought it was the thread title that started it. And you might be able to give a mutt a bath, but it's still gonna be a mutt. At least Nancy has a nice bod to go with a pretty face. I know 'cause I watched her in the shower scene in 'Carrie' again a couple weeks back. Nice. I don't ever wanna see Karen in the shower. Her face is bad enough without seeing her skinny white a$s too.
  9. Like that cartoon I saw once (might've been Family Guy), Kirk: Allright, we're going down - you're with me Spock, Bones, Uhura, Scotty, Ensign Ricky. Ensign Ricky: Ah, crap.
  10. Wasn't 'Bonnie & Clyde' (1967) kind of controversial at the time?
  11. Theresa Russell, same movie. Plays a Marilyn character.
  12. This is the week I've been waiting for. 'The Long Goodbye' (1973) My very favorite "Marlowe". I can, at long last, get a (hopefully) uncut and commercial-free copy in my collection.
  13. I changed "mutt" to "scuz". Much closer to how I feel.
  14. Nancy was a babe. Karen was a scuz. She always looked like she needed a good bath to me - and that's not a good thing. When looking at a woman makes me think "eww, don't touch me - you look dirty", that's not a good thing. I felt that for Karen in several movies.
  15. I mentioned 'Windows' in conjunction with your example of 'Cruising' only because of the homosexual protesting of both productions. The males protested 'Cruising'; the females protested 'Windows'.
  16. Karen Allen Her career was made by getting the part in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. But every time I watch that movie, I just don't get what she's doing in that part. She looks terrible to me - physically. Not at all like someone Indiana would ever have eyes for. She did have a great voice for the part, though. If I close my eyes, she sounds good. But when I open them, she's all wrong. In fact, she's all wrong for every movie I ever saw her in. Don't understand how she got into movies.
  17. Bingo! Nearly a third of the movie was removed and is still missing.
  18. Hey - Grenada - now that was one tough foe, for sure. Thank heavens for U.S. military might.
