  1. Like I'd worry. By the way, it's not "everyone has them" - it's "everyone has one".
  2. Not to mention those poor eaten-alive bugs. Mmm.....bug sandwiches.
  3. Oooh - how original. Really on your game tonight, huh.
  4. Nicely photographed for sure. Hard to go wrong with that scenery. But early on, when he spreads his arms out wide and prances on his horse, back and forth, eyes closed, in front of all those rifles that are aiming at him that somehow, magically, can't hit him - I'm all like "this is bullsh!t". Won't even get into the part with the wolf. Talk about a Christ-complex. Sheesh.
  5. That mistake pales against the mistake of the very character he plays in the movie. A truly puke-worthy performance to see.
  6. I do believe Ava had a fair bit of booze in her red blood, so maybe not the ideal for every American male.
  7. I think there's one fan of Jolson left - she's 109 and lives in Powdersville, South Carolina.
  8. Only the first one is something I'd ever consider watching again. 2,3 and 4 bore the hell outta me.
  9. Yep. 'Star Wars' would probably be the choice for most popular international movie of all time. 'Sorcerer's Stone' not so much because it's known as 'Philosopher's Stone' most places.
  10. Yeah, but don't forget - it's giving Bogie "the creeps".
  11. I do. The 30's were hard, hard times and Germany was undergoing some of the hardest anywhere. Neither filmmakers nor anyone else in the general populace had a crystal ball working for them, and they clutched hope where they could find it.
  12. Great synonym, GayD! Kinda have to go back about 100 years to find its most previous usage (although it does sound like a word John Cleese would use).
  13. In his case, I don't even really think of it as "complaining" - seems too considered a word. I think of it as grousing.
  14. He is a litle jittery. I think his mind tends to race.
  15. I think you can pretty much count on said gentleman having not changed in any way.
  16. One of the reasons why so few studio era movies stand up. They don't sound real.
  17. She thought she was "ready for my close up, Mr. Demille'. Deluded aging actresses are not an uncommon phenomenon, it would seem.
  18. Quentin Tarantino might be great fun. Might be able to influence programming to bring in greater amounts of stuff never shown before.
  19. Yeah, that's what we want - movies edited by Mormons.
  20. This one must've really struck you alternately if you can't do it in this case. It was on many a 'best picture of the year' list. I'm really gonna have to check it out one of these days.
  21. I'm not talking about un-intentions. I'm talking about deliberate removal of content. In other words, censorship. Unless, of course, only the legally elected government can censor. Then what do we call it when we deliberately attempt to deprive others from seeing certain content? If not censorship, what?
  22. Ahh, but I am being nasty or racist - I'm just not allowing you to see it by using self-censorship. Okay, so self-censorship means that "censorship" isn't strictly a legal matter, administered by only the elected government. If my local Church is showing a movie to the parishioners in the Church basement and deliberately cuts 2 minutes from the film because it would rather the flock not see that content - is that censorship? When a tv station shows a movie with sexy parts taken out - is that censorship? If none of these examples are of censorship - of what examples are they? Repression maybe?
