Good lord - is TCM ever gonna get tired of running that amateurish piece of trash?
-
But when oh when will TCM ever give us 'Return of the Fly' (1959).

Yeah. You think the Commonwealth should've declared war on Germany for the fun of it? Don't even talk to me about France. Even Italy probably could've taken those pretenders. The Commonwealth went to war on behalf of Europe. The Russians and Americans realized advantages for themselves by not getting involved, and so they didn't. Again, thankyou Japan. And I would say thankyou Adolf for your moronic decision to punish Russia by attacking at the end of summer, except that it led to the sharing of the atomic bomb and the damnable cold war that "justified" an out-of-control military-industrial complex that feeds the powerful at the expense of everyone.

Him and his brother invented the airplane.

Again - it took attacks on them to get them involved - just like the U.S. The Commonwealth rose up immediately for the principle of freedom and faced off against the formidable German war machine - at great personal expense, especially Britain. So again - thankyou, Japan - you dumb bastard who accidentally brought a whole host of new resources to the Commonwealth's heroic struggle.

Oh. Yeah. I see that now. When I started reading it I noticed that it was awfully familiar and then looked up to see "March" at the top.

Make sure you click on "US" along the schedule selectors at the top.

You did stay out of the war. While the Commonwealth was fighting the Third Reich on behalf of the world for two and a half years, you contented yourselves with war profiteering. That's why on the 7th of December each year I send a thank you note to Japan. If it wasn't for them dragging you selfish d!cks into caring about what was happening in the world, Britain, Australia and Canada would've sustained further sacrifice for probably a couple of years longer than the six it took. Who knew you'd enjoy the experience of victory so much you'd turn yourselves into a permanent war-economy?

Maybe not "in print" exactly. But the prose is available. https://thedissolve.com/news/3447-cinephiles-rejoice-danny-pearys-cult-movies-books-/

Recorded it. It's nice when something gets shown that's rarely so. Keep 'em comin', TCM!

Questionably moral themes? You mean like movies that continually glorify war - the kind America has been churning out since 1941? Who's deciding what's "questionable" - the Corporate State? Fundamentalist Right-Wingers? Humanitarian Secularists? The Girl Scouts? The Ku Klux K lan? The NAACP? The Womens Liberation Front? The Catholic Church? The PTA? Or can I decide?

Yes, some of the early 60's Elvis movies were at least trying to be something more than just LP sellers. Flaming Star, Kid Galahad and Follow That Dream all have something to recommend them - and, not coincidentally, feature fewer songs than the rest of his 60's films (all of which were ridiculous).

It's a handy reference for all those claimants who state that TCM has changed its mix from old to new. Now they can be pointed to this chart when they raise that weary lament.
-
Wow! Great job on that.

Case? Was Woody Allen trying to get custody of her kids or something? Doesn't really make much sense that he would - but if so, he probably felt they needed rescuing. In any event, this would be an example of winning by losing. He can say "oh, well - I tried". Now, he's free of that nutty bunch - and he's married to the woman he wants to be with. Yay, Woody. People like Woody - he's straight up and true to himself. Not sure how many people go anywhere near Mia. I know I wouldn't.

As Sakini in 'Teahouse' maybe? Wayne's at least as good an actor as Brando, right?
