  1. Easy. Make up an announcement that can be used immediately before the movie begins. It can be used whenever they find that they've received an edited movie from the post-1970 period (pre-1970 is moot). "The following movie has been found to be an edited-for-television copy which we received in error. We apologize for the inconvenience to those who had hoped to see the genuine version." Then at least their reputation for showing movies unedited will not p!ss so many people off by their not living up to it. They openly transfer the blame to their supplier while allowing me to not waste my time with the thing.
  2. When they run an edited film, I have to wonder if they're pleasing anybody.
  3. And did that one run for 109 issues like 'The Adventures of Bob Hope' did over 18 years ? Jerry Lewis went 124 issues.
  4. Again with the drop-outs. Makes one wonder if TCM is losing its nerve. Scared to run movies unedited now.
  5. DC even published a 'Bob Hope' comic book in the 50's & 60's. A 'Jerry Lewis' one too.
  6. Wonder why 41 minutes is missing. Wikipedia says the running time is 191 minutes. Also wonder why TCM showed the dubbed version rather than the "foreign language" version.
  7. 7 inches is not all that magnificent for a porn star. I think it's pretty much the minimum requirement.
  8. He was creepy as hell even before that. Right from the moment he appears in the movie - doing his phony baloney 'Doctor Phil' crap, he seems to already be an alien. But he's not - all his friends are completely comfortable with this weirdo.
  9. All we ask is that they be up front about it. If they're running an edited version, tell us so. Then we won't waste our time on it - we'll wait until the real version comes around. I'll be erasing this rather than adding it to my collection. Disappointingly.
  10. 'Begin Again' is on my "to see" list now, thanks to these recommendations.
  11. He did at least one Simpsons episode. Maybe a couple. Typecast as Spock or not, he seemed to enjoy the fame it had brought to him. And I really enjoyed seeing him in 'Star Trek' (2009) which I recently watched for the first time.
  12. You don't see the remarkable similarity between Richard Conte and seven hatted gunslingers, all of whom are named Dane Clarke?
  13. Poor Leonard. Has to be the most stereotyped actor of all time. All he was accepted as was Spock and only Spock. Watching him in 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' in 1978 was weird. He just came across as a duller psychiatrist-Spock and was completely out of place for it.
  14. Why does Ralph have an "L" in his name if he's not gonna pronounce it? If he wants to be addressed as "Rafe", wouldn't it make sense to spell it that way? I say he doesn't deserve any awards as punishment for screwing with our heads.
  15. That's how I feel about the Universal horrors - particularly the Frankenstein, Wolf Man, Mummy and Son-Daughter of Dracula films. Hammer re-did them in colour, and though those updates have their good points, they lack the atmosphere and charm of the black and white Universals.
  16. Well, we're cocksure about having one of the best countries on the planet in which to live. Only the Scandinavians have it better.
  17. Canadians would never goose-step. Not so sure about you Republicans though.
  18. Hell, no. It's perfectly worded, very poetic, beautifully tuned to express love of country, gloriously - hits all the right emotions. Yours - well, like most Americanisms, seems a little over-stated. Kinda overdone - laughable even. But hey, that's just me. I'm sure you all love it.
  19. What the hell's that supposed to mean? Canada's national anthem is what I care about. Don't give a sh!t what you do to yours.
  20. We sing it pretty much the same way indoors and out, regardless of the season. Truth be told, we don't hold many outdoor events during winter.
  21. None. We find our anthem to be glorious enough when sung straight - no need for embellishment.
  22. Maybe that means that next time TCM runs it we'll get the 'adult' version everyone seems to prefer.
