Is political correctness getting in the way of classic broadcasts?
Certainly doesn't help. Doesn't exactly "smooth the way" for the showing of some movies, I wouldn't think.
-
Might be interesting to hear Lon Chaney Sr. talk about movies.
-
I still cannot see darkblue's replies. Sorry.
Doesn't matter. They are posted for the membership to read. Whether you read them or not is irrelevant.
You've made yourself a pariah in this community and your posts have become worthless except as items of disdain and ridicule. Some people are still having fun with that while others of us have become bored and sick of you altogether.

Hitchcock would be a mesmerizing co-host. What a guy. What an amazing personality.
He'd certainly be able to talk with absolute authority about his own films. I understand he controlled every word spoken by his actors.
It would be fascinating to hear his thoughts on other directors' movies.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think they would be very genuine and heartfelt. But let's look at the bigger picture-- this thread is beyond bubbling and close to exploding. What's not to like?
An explosion is exactly what he was going for right from the opening. Hopefully it blows him right out of the membership.

Half the comments on this thread are on topic, and I appreciate that. I think this is an issue worth exploring that should be brought to the attention of the web designers.
Hopefully you won't be around to see any change in the "issue".
May this be your final troll!

Reported: on-going insults, repeated violations of the code of conduct.
And I've reported you now.
How long is a troll going to be allowed to operate here. Administration needs to ban you - you're nothing but trouble on an everyday level.
-
Stop shifting blame. I am not responsible for your level of enjoyment on the boards. I have no connection with you whatsoever. Put me on Ignore and move on. Thumbs down on your above comment.
Why don't you put the likers on ignore? Along with the original "insulters"?
I guess your reading circle would be as small as it is at Facebook, huh?
You're not fooling anyone. You troll for this sh!t deliberately. You get off on causing trouble.

LOL! The women fight over him apparently.........
Not at all.

Cute post, Holden. But sounds a bit melodramatic, don't you think? I am glad you feel the 'like' button serves a purpose-- and I agree as long as it is not used to bait arguments or add to insults. However, we have some people that do not use it like respectful adults would.
Nobody baits as many arguments as you do.
And if you feel people liking a post is the same as an insult to you, well let's face it - you must deserve it. Nobody else seems to have any problems with being insulted by "likes". Just you.

Just be thankful for small favors--there is no dislike feature.
TopBilled does his own. Have you not seen his big thumbs down illustration in some of his posts?
He's such a sweetie.
-
You take whatever's left over?
I suppose so. I've never needed to compete for love. When there's been a connection - she's attracted to me, I'm attracted to her - things just kinda go the way they're supposed to go. Stuff is said, dances are danced, relationships happen.

He is definitely the best looking major director ever. (His old rival Warren Beatty might say, "What about me"?
Oh, I think Mr. Eastwood's fans might have something to say about that.
-
No. Like I said. I like it because if I don't have anything pertanent to add to the thread, at least I can agree with somebody, and you all have viewpoints, mixed & measured, that I really like.
Yes. I like it too. Pretty much everybody does.
That doesn't matter to Topper, though. He thinks it should be taken away from us because it's not flattering to him. He's rude to people; he trolls; he fights with everyone and then calls it abuse that nobody likes him or the things he says in his posts.

Why get rid of it?
No reason whatsoever. Just someone who gets no 'likes' feeling petulant. Easier to take it away from everybody than to make improvements to his own unlikeable expressions of himself.
-
likely meant to stir up trouble instead of fostering real communication.
This thread is exactly that. Trolling for trouble, as ever from you.

THE 'LIKE' FEATURE NEEDS TO GO
You're just saying that because nobody likes you or your posts. Pretty nearly everybody else loves the feature.

In "Green Acres", Eunice said.... Stop saying Hooterville, it sounds like a place owls go to mate.
I thought it was where all those waitresses live.

I don't have any recollection of You've Got Mail ever playing on TCM which is why I asked. I swear it hasn't but I would like to believe it has. However, NP guides are not infallible since they are printed a month or 2 before the films actually air and, as we know, changes to the schedules happen all the time. If anybody else can shed some light on this, chime in.
Sure, I'll chime in. I remember seeing that title on the schedule once. I believe it was probably on one of those Friday nights when it was chosen by one of the special Friday Night hosts. I can't swear for sure it was on a Friday, but I believe it was.
Or maybe it was Oscar month.
I guess I remember it because it was so unusual to see such a recent movie on the schedule. I love it when movies made after the 60's happen on TCM.

Ronald Reagan, because of his media skills?
Sure, it would be great fun to watch the dodderer try to have an intelligent conversation.
-
Well, you and I will never be competing for the same woman.
Compete? I've never competed for a woman in my life.

Nobody could ever accuse Redford of overacting. He wasn't wooden, but often seemed to be a bit underacting.
I liked the way he let it out a little in 'Little Fauss and Big Halsey'. He played a selfish, conniving, womanizing, ne'er-do-well user.
And he NEVER looked better or buffer.
I loved that movie - saw it about 6 times. The critics hated it.

I guess I took the question the wrong way. I thought we were supposed to suggest people who were still alive.

I don't find her voice or speech patterns annoying. I find them endearing.

A homosexual slur maybe?
Nah, couldn't be - not for Dargo or Groucho.
