  1. Of those, the only one I liked was 'The Addams Family' - I dug Astin and thought Jones was sexy. As for 'Bewitched', I'd watch that from time to time because I thought Elizabeth was the most beautiful woman on television and just wanted to look at her. The rest were brainless and had no hold on me of any kind. Well....I will say that Fred Gwynne as Herman could make me laugh sometimes if I happened to catch a few minutes in passing.
  2. It's not a real POV. It's just BS. And stupid BS at that.
  3. Like I'd ever go after you. You and I are nearly the same person - you just have more talent at diplomacy than I do. My rule of 'never use the ignore feature' has always been the same as yours. Lately, however, I've been mulling over the effects of seeing a certain poster's writings. And I'm learning just how many people have had to cut these posts from their lives, for their own emotional well-being. Even SansFin has admitted to needing that release. I've been considering changing my long-standing policy and joining them in that paradise. Of course, we can never be totally free unless we also put members who frequently quote the unwanted party on ignore as well. And that would be a much tougher decision to make.
  4. I've replied many times. Often, the result has been that the bully calls me a bully.
  5. And when certain members deliberately say things that irritate others and actually enjoy the reactions it brings - including yours -? You don't mind feeding something that offends so many?
  6. She already has a directorship under her belt. 'In the Land of Blood and Honey' (2011) was an ambitious effort, though not all that well-received by critics. Still, she could end up being a better director than she is an actor. Said this in another thread recently, she's massively over-rated as an actor. Sexy face, though.
  7. Ken Weatherwax, who played Pugsley Addams, has died. He was just 59.
  8. Wonder how long they had to work on her each day to get her to look that "hot". Lotsa make-up goin' on there, I'd imagine. Still, she's not that bad for a woman her age. But she's no Jane Fonda beauty, that's for sure.
  9. Is there any recording artist who defines the counter-culture better than Neil? And he's been so true to that all these years. A truly great Canadian. As a child, Neil's father (Scott Young) was an conservative sportswriter for the Toronto Telegram, who also wrote sports-themed novels for young people - and, most notably, was a regular guest on Saturday evening's 'Hockey Night in Canada', that era's most nationally watched television program, home of the Leafs - who then were "Canada's Team". I think his father's fame probably made Neil a school yard celebrity of sorts. Virtually every kid in Canada saw his dad on Saturday nights. I chose this video, even though it's not the best sound (it's from the lp) because of all the great photos of Neil throughout. Here's Rush
  10. Just a headsup to you that TCM will be showing 'Baby, the Rain Must Fall' in March! I've been waiting a long time for an opportunity to record a copy of that strange little gem. Also stars Steve McQueen in one of his lesser-known roles.
  11. Watching that one in the theatre at 12 years old made me feel dirty. Sleazy, sleazy movie - I love it!
  12. Vincent Price aged well, I think Jane Fonda - who started in - what, 1957? - has certainly aged beautifully Come to think of it, her dad did as well. Harder to come up with those who didn't age well - probably because I don't like to think about it. Oh, I know - Ruth Roman didn't. She kept looking blowsier and blowsier.
  13. Always happy to play some Canadian rock.
  14. Maybe he should have. He has a huge bunch of friends here.
  15. Reminds of the old joke: Do you have any kids? Yes. Twins. How do you tell them apart? The boy is taller.
  16. Teachers are idiots a lot of the time. I'd be too if I had to put up with all the whining they have to.
  17. I'd just say "fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa".
  18. I believe in Helen's case, she's been forbidden to engage with TopBilled - a result of him running to the mods about her. If I'm wrong about this, please correct me. Having such a restriction placed on a person is debilitating to that person's sense of self. Nobody would like to be cast in a position where they have to withhold their responses, no matter whether those responses would be entirely valid, for fear of banishment. And especially when the "protected" person is someone like HIM! And just to kick her when she's down, he once complained about her "liking" my posts because the posts I address to him he often doesn't appreciate. And if anyone thinks I know this from a private message relationship with Helen, think again. She has contacted me only once by pm in all the years I've been here - and that was to thank me for saying something in a post I'd made.
  19. He was out of line, "request" or not. People should be free to discuss any movie they want to in General Discussions without someone making an issue of doing so all of a sudden. The resentment he's gotten is deserved.
  20. I don't think there's any question that critics agreed with that in 1935 - and most still do, I'd bet. And it almost is - except for one problem I have with it. I mean, I really love most of the movie - it's brilliant. But Dr. Pretorius and his little people are just too ridiculous. They take me out of the movie - every damn time. Even as a child I remember thinking "this is the best movie ever made" and then getting to that little people part and I'd let out a groan. It prevents me from placing this otherwise magnificent movie on top of the shelf where most feel it belongs. Don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does. Maybe I feel that they took a great horror movie and tried to make it a children's movie or something - get more ticket buyers for it that way. I just don't know.
