Any chance that after all the flak that she has received, that someone is now writing her comments for her?
She's received flak?
You haven't been sending her any unmarked packages - have you?

I like this version best because a) I saw it first and 2) Lon Chaney Jr. is in it.

Your statement is untrue.
I know many people who find both THE SONG OF THE SOUTH and misogynistic rap songs offensive.
Is offensive the same thing as harmful?
If so, shouldn't there be a lot more laws against offending people? Like millions more laws.

And no warnings about copperheads and rattlers and other slithering creatures.
Hey, now - let's leave Stephen Baldwin outta this.

My posting history here suggests that I am a critical thinker
Yes. Just not a very astute one.

well, I kinda do think there is this obligatory attitude in the mainstream media that sots is to be regarded as a racist film simply because the left has ordained it so.
Actually, it was members of the NAACP and "black" media that "ordained" it so.
But, I suppose they could be seen as kind of leftish - they certainly have never been status quo establishment-centric.

Why does the expression, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" come to mind?,
Probably because I possess such regal bearing.

Thank you for posting this!
You're very welcome.
You know, I've purchased that album no less than 4 times in my life - twice on vinyl and twice on cd. The 2001 re-master was a significant improvement in sound quality over the first cd issue. Still the best solo album by any Beatle ever - followed by Lennon's primal-scream album of the same year (1970).

I liked her performance in 'Donnie Darko', jakeem. Thought she was sexy as heck for a school teacher.

Couple weeks back Dhani Harrison was on Conan doing a killer rendition of his father's 'Let It Down' (from the brilliant 'All Things Must Pass'). Did a pretty good job.

But good lord, let's get back to Drew. This woman tapped out her talent at age six.
I disagree. I've seen her in a few movies and she's at least as good as any number of current actresses.

But you know DB, you all may be right about this political correctness in hindsight thing.
Us all?
Don't lump me in with all these overly-concerned ninnies.

I think it's ok to criticize (which is different from insulting) the quality of individual arts presenters, actors, directors, etc.
Yep, it's a long-held tradition to throw tomatoes at show-biz people who fail to please us.

From happy go lucky slave to happy go lucky sharecropper.
Is this a great country or what?
For sure! Sharecroppers have it the best!
-
of course not. Walt Disney, however chose to spin a positive story.
Except with 'Bambi'. There the message was reality - life's a b!tch and then you die.
That's why it's the only one I really like.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe they were just putting on a good face for Mr. Charlie and Miz Charlotte?
We all do the best we can with the circumstances we're in.

suppose we conjecture that some newly freed slaves were miserable but there were also many who were reasonably cheerful and maintained positive rapports with the white southern families whom they knew and knew them.
I'd be willing to bet there were both.
Though how many of each type I couldn't say.

pinocchio shouldn't wish to be human but revel in the joys of wood construction.
No strings attached?

We've had Cry Freedom so why not Cry Hatred?
Or Cry Payback?
-
they would prefer a cinema portrait of newly freed negro slaves in the post-civil war south fuming with hatred and resentment for every white person in sight young or old
I'd watch that. Not sure I'd enjoy it, but I'd watch it.

Have you seen the miniseries, "Rich Jerk, Poor Jerk"?
I have not. Was it good?
-
I have personally observed, and have heard other people also say, that Chase is a jerk in real life.
Me too. But he's a rich jerk and I'm a poor one.

repeating the same posts again and again does not add to any constructive dialogue
And yet people continue to get into discussions about issues of race, many joining in whenever they come across one.
It'll be nice when people no longer feel the necessity nor impulse to do so.
-
when I see threads like this, where the same issues are hashed out again and again, I wonder what the point of all of it is.
It will be nice when "issues of race" are no longer of interest to anyone.

Maybe when lots more "white" people begin to travel to Mexico before entering the U.S., she'll fall under greater scrutiny.
