The Thin Red Line is a very different kind of war film. I liked it. Some, including actor Adrian Brody did not..
I enjoyed 'The Thin Red Line' well enough, but I sure wish I could find out why Mickey Rourke's scenes were taken out.

I owned 4 Stones albums - one of which was the great hits collection "High Tide and Green Grass'.
I owned every Beatles album.
Guess you could say I had a greater fondness for the Beatles than the Stones. Yep.

but your suggesting love and charity as license to do just about anything according to individual human prerogative.
Stop making stuff up. I didn't say anything of the kind - YOU LIAR.
I'll say it just once more - marriage is not a sin. If anything, it's a bulwark against sin.
As for you, I really suggest you give some thought to your own sinful life and stop pretending you know anything about what God wants. Christ is God - read his words and shut up until you actually know something.

by what other means other the ten commandments would Jesus Christ have each and every one of us determine exactly what sin is???
The Commandments are fine. They're basic rules. Christ did uphold them. None of them prohibit marriage based on what one is. And nobody with any spiritual wisdom thinks they are all of equal importance.
basically what you're saying is, darkblue, forget the bible and use your own judgment.
Everything you need to know to follow Christ back to God can be found in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark. Read those reports and think on what you've read.

Jesus never advised us to do as we will irregardless of the ten commandments.
according to you by Jesus sin is allowable.
Jesus did forgive sin. he did not give it free rein...which seems to be what you are suggesting.
The truth is Jesus would ask us to renounce our sins...and if homosexuality is sin as is made clear in the old testament. then that is what is required.
the relationship between god and man is based on god's terms and not our own. according to you in the name of charity god would embrace sin???
Sin by others is not for you to judge. Christ is very clear about that. The only sin that concerns you, as a soul - as a child of God - is your own.
And anyway, marriage is not sin. If anything, it's a buffer against sin.
Spare me the Moses quotes and all the rules and regulations he and his bunch came up with.
Christ has given the highest law. Peace, charity, mercy, forgiveness. That's what's important - not you trying to prevent people from being married.

Really stupid statements being made here - first by speedracer and then by Jake.
Marriage is the uniting of two consenting adult human beings. By law, everyone is entitled to one spouse - one very special lawful mate who aids in fulfilling our life and helps to keep us from irresponsible fornica
tion and the sin of adultery. I agree with the law of only one spouse. Very few people are advocating any change to that as we all know it's the only workable arrangement for our government to administer.
Animals cannot enter into marriage with humans. They are incapable of making such a decision; they do not have the capacity to understand what they are consenting to - therefore they cannot possibly consent to it.
And that's the end of those idiotic suggestions. I hope.

to my knowledge Jesus was very understanding torwards sinners...but he never overtly condoned sinful behavior. never.
for example, mary magdelene. she's pursued by a crowd who wants to stone her for adultery. Jesus intervenes. they inform Jesus of her sin. jesus asks her if is it true. she acknowledges to him that it is. what does Jesus say to the crowd? he says...
"then you have judged her rightly."
he picks up a stone and challenges the sinless among them to start pelting her. they disperse.
Jesus asks her where all her accusers, those who condemned her, have gone. he tells her that he will not comdemn her either.
then Jesus says..."Go...and sin no more."
Jesus never excused sin. he merely forgave it. forgiveness is not condoning sin.
question darkblue, how can anyone who believes that every word in both the old and new testaments are divinely inspired, ignore those words? there are many passages in the old testament that make it clear that homosexuality between men and women is completely unacceptable to God...
"For if a man lay with another man
or a woman lay with another woman.
It is an abomination unto the eyes of the Lord."
tell me how I'm supposed to get past that, darkblue. I am one who believes that nothing written in the bible can be discounted or disregarded. one either believes that every word in the bible is divine truth or you don't
I do.
God intended Adam and Eve to procreate.
two questions.
can two men knowing each other initiate the human reproductive process? No.
can two women knowing each other initiate the human reproductive process? No again.
there is an order in things. are we to ignore that order simply on the basis of flawed human prerogative?
I say no.
And the bible tells us that God is unchanging, darkblue. that God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
if something is unacceptable to God millennia ago, it remains so.
You believe in the Bible - written by men, and do what you do.
I'll believe in the teachings and example of Christ, doing as he advises - after all, Christ is the real thing. He is God.
Peace, Charity, Mercy, Forgiveness. That's the higher law, that's what He has given.
You follow Moses, I'll follow Christ.

A LOT of people must have misread 1 Corinthians 6:9–10
Corinthians is irrelevant. They are just the opinions of Paul, nothing more.
Only Christ's words matter. Everything one needs to know can be found in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark. All else can be ignored; just be as Christ advises.

HE the same guy who numerous times has professed his christian faith...
and then celebrates a scotus ruling that makes a mockery of traditional marriage???
Mocking? How is allowing everybody to have a legal spouse mocking marriage? It's the "traditional" man-women insisters that are doing the mocking of other's marriages. Like they're so special only they should have the right to a spouse of their choice and homosexual people shouldn't.
If one really cares about religion in the truest sense - seeking to return to God, the Source of All Creation - forget being a Christian. Be a follower of Christ. He has given the path. Though it be enormously difficult to stay on it, and almost everyone falls from it - to varying distances from it - its tenets are simple to understand, just not to live. You may even be persecuted; made to suffer; killed for living by them.
The cornerstones for the following of Christ are: peace, charity, mercy, forgiveness. "Christians" who will not accept these principles are not really following Him. Denying marriage to those who want to be married is uncharitable. You can do that and wear a label that says "Christian", but don't be surprised if He says to you at some point "I know you not".

'The Split' is a typically 60's kind of heist movie - one might even call it silly in its seriousness.
But you have to watch a movie that has Warren Oates, Gene Hackman, Donald Sutherland, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Klugman, James Whitmore - and Julie Harris (!) breaking type to play a villainess gangster lady. She even looks good doing it - better than usual.
Oh, and Jim Brown's in it too (yawn).

Last night, in a mood for some sci-fi, I re-watched The Time Machine. Always the classic, I loved the conversation between the men in 1899, I loved the machine, and I loved the depiction of the passage of time (the shot through the windows, with the clouds racing and the sun arcing over and over again, the candle melting as the hands of the clock wind around at top speed.)
Among the few things I didn't like was the character of Weena (she could have been better drawn even if she was supposed to lack much strong emotion. The actress herself was lousy and I imagine she got the part because she was a hot babe). The other Eloi characters themselves were okay enough... I loved the sets in the future world, including the eating area and the big Egyptian-looking sculpture where the Morlocks resided. The look of the Morlocks made me laugh, but I loved the scene showing the disintegration of one of them. Good special effects for 1960.
I never found Yvette Mimieux to be much of an actress.
Her blond whiteness didn't do a lot for me either - but I know some guys really like that look. I find it boring.
The passage of time effect is the best thing in the movie. The Rod Taylor fighting with a whip scene is pretty good too.

Truth is now an utterly foreign concept to right-wingers.
They abandoned any semblance of it long ago.
That's why a really good education system is so important - to help kids to learn critical thinking. And it's exactly why education has been ridiculed and defunded by Republicans. People who can think are the enemy.

Never really have cared for Debbie Reynolds. Not even Jason Robards or James Garner will entice to watch a movie in which she "stars." However, she is OK as Grandma Mazur, Katherine Heigl's grandmother in One For the Money.
Actually feel the same about June Allyson and Doris Day.
Doris' good girl thing does often put me off - but at least she's got great gams!

The Marx Brothers, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Mae Clarke were the most enjoyable days.
You like the really old stuff, huh, Prince.
Marx Brothers day was awesome.

Yeah, well, THAT'S why WE still have the strongest economy in world ya know, MissW!
And what's the latest exchange rate? Somethin' like 1CAD=.75USD???
(...I rest my case) LOL
People don't purchase Canadian currency as much as they purchase American currency. So, American currency is valued higher than Canadian.
That's the way we like it. We prefer that speculators, attempters of new investment schemes and the just plain greedy give their attentions to your country. You have a much broader reputation for corruption and victimizing pension plans and stuff like that, so it's pretty easy to understand why your dollar attracts so much interest from those types. We like stability, and are known the world over for having the most stable and boring financial systems on earth.

Yes, Jennifer Connelly and the entire cast of REQUEIM FOR A DREAM were wonderful.
If you haven't see it, I can't recommend 'Waking the Dead' (2000) highly enough. She is phenomenal.
And then there's 'Blood Diamond' (2006).
I could go on. Those who don't know her work are in for a real treat when they do begin to discover her.

Complete change of pace...getting to the end of summer, let's soak up the sun while we can. (Well, actually I don't like soaking / baking in the sun, I like rain, but that's not the point.)
Sheryl really evokes the 60's hippie-girl vibe for me. Reminds me of summer times with girls (and buddies) I hung with back in '69-'71.
