  1. Get used to it. TCM is unique in more ways than one.
  2. Comparatively. They're were both small in size. That was the most exciting fight I ever saw. I was with my cousin Donny, who trained at the same gym with Nicky Furlano. Come to think of it, I was with him when I spoke to Pryor as well. Afterward, Donny just looked at me and said "you animal." We said that a lot in those days when one of us would impress the other.
  3. For many, yes. But not for me. I think I kinda knew Blake. Anyone who watched 'The Tonight Show' (and other talk shows) in the 70's knew he was a volatile and haunted personality. Carradine was still interested in pleasure at the age of 70 something. So what? I can tell you it doesn't get any easier to attain when you start getting up in age. I just think he was probably drunk at the time, so - whoops.
  4. Well, he is the number 1 vampire in the whole world. Megalomania seems like a natural fit to such a position. Lugosi couldn't speak English, so his performance is less identifiable that way.
  5. Any movie with both George and Art is a keeper.
  6. Jim Carrey has attempted to break away from his madcap persona several times - not with a great deal of success as far as box-office is concerned. But I credit him for trying. He's a better actor than people give him credit for. 'Man in the Moon', and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' are both good movies. I also like the dark comedy 'The Cable Guy' as well, and think that's where he began to stretch out as an actor.
  7. If we're speaking about the century from 1900 to 1999, I think 'The Exorcist' would probably win most Critic's Polls.
  8. Any good news on this front yet?
  9. I'm apparently not supposed to, but I still like the Cos. I just can't seem to dismiss the 50 years of wonderful entertainment he's given to me. I used to lay in bed in the 60's and laugh in the dark listening to his marvellous comedy albums. And I always enjoyed the movies he made in the 70's. Sorry - that has nothing to do with the western, but your post opened the subject of him now being "controversial".
  10. Chilling movie. Bogie's new avatar keeps making me think of it.
  11. I once got boxer Aaron Pryor to look me straight in the eyes. He was in Toronto for a fight with Nicky Furlano. As he was exiting the ring afterward, surrounded by his handlers and hangers-on, I managed to get real close and barked "Hawk!" at him. He responded immediately, looking me square in the eyes, and he said "I gotta train more", shaking his head. Nicky had taken him the distance. Getting close to him like that, I was most impressed by how small he was.
  12. Robert Stack. One of the dullest, least expressive actors I've ever seen. He makes Jack Webb look - well, never mind - nothing could make Webb look lively.
  13. Excellent movie. I never read a review for a movie I haven't seen yet.
  14. They're too grown-up looking, for one thing. It's bloody dangerous - you have to ask for government issued photo id. It can be a real mood killer.
  15. Thankyou so much! Do my ears look sexier? They're suppose to.
  16. Personally, I think Eli Wallach's performance is the best in the movie. But, Marilyn - oh my, how I do love that beautiful, troubled woman.
  17. Danged cable transmission screwed up for about 90 seconds in the middle of 'Going in Style'. So, deleted. I hope TCM shows it again - I suspect it will. I did get 'Mean Streets' later that night - but my library has a copy that I'll record from, so the TCM recording is just until then.
  18. They shoulda put some beavers in the movie.
  19. John Fiedler in 'The Odd Couple' (1968). Not an under-rated movie, but an under-rated actor in the movie.
  20. Absolutely. I was overjoyed to see it scheduled. Not that it's relevant, but I'll watch anything that's got a substantial part in it for Robert Vaughn.
  21. That's a great guess, Helen! Hope you're right.
