Has anyone mentioned 'The Birds'?
That was pretty cool.

Any good news on this front yet?

It's a noteworthy film because it shows a black woman -- played by an uncredited Etta McDaniel, Hattie's older sister -- avenging the callous murder of her fiancé (Willie Best).
Here's a TCM Featurette with comments by the eminent -- and now controversial -- Dr. William H. Cosby, Jr.:

I'm apparently not supposed to, but I still like the Cos.
I just can't seem to dismiss the 50 years of wonderful entertainment he's given to me. I used to lay in bed in the 60's and laugh in the dark listening to his marvellous comedy albums. And I always enjoyed the movies he made in the 70's.
Sorry - that has nothing to do with the western, but your post opened the subject of him now being "controversial".

Chilling movie. Bogie's new avatar keeps making me think of it.

I once got boxer Aaron Pryor to look me straight in the eyes.
He was in Toronto for a fight with Nicky Furlano. As he was exiting the ring afterward, surrounded by his handlers and hangers-on, I managed to get real close and barked "Hawk!" at him. He responded immediately, looking me square in the eyes, and he said "I gotta train more", shaking his head. Nicky had taken him the distance.
Getting close to him like that, I was most impressed by how small he was.

Robert Stack.
One of the dullest, least expressive actors I've ever seen. He makes Jack Webb look - well, never mind - nothing could make Webb look lively.

How's this class going?
Learning lots?

No, I can't believe how any reviewer could give GOSFORD PARK a grade of F.
Excellent movie. I never read a review for a movie I haven't seen yet.

They're too grown-up looking, for one thing. It's bloody dangerous - you have to ask for government issued photo id. It can be a real mood killer.

Someone in here has had an amazing makeover, even Dr. Jekyll would be jealous, lol.
Thankyou so much! Do my ears look sexier? They're suppose to.

Personally, I think Eli Wallach's performance is the best in the movie.
But, Marilyn - oh my, how I do love that beautiful, troubled woman.

I like to watch THE THING in winter on a very cold night with the heat turned down low.
I feel the same way about 'McCabe and Mrs. Miller'.
-
Danged cable transmission screwed up for about 90 seconds in the middle of 'Going in Style'. So, deleted. I hope TCM shows it again - I suspect it will.
I did get 'Mean Streets' later that night - but my library has a copy that I'll record from, so the TCM recording is just until then.

Really, huh?!
And here one would have thought those two OTHER scenes in that sequel and where Tor(with Edith strapped to his back once again of course) shot the winning goal in the Stanley Cup Finals for the Maple Leafs AND where Tor(with Edith strapped to his back once again of course) then later celebrates his victory at the Timmy's located near the base the aforementioned CN Tower..well...wouldn't ya think THAT sort'a thing would've spelled box office boffo UP NORTH there anyway???
(...guess ya never know, huh..err..EH?!)
They shoulda put some beavers in the movie.

John Fiedler in 'The Odd Couple' (1968).
Not an under-rated movie, but an under-rated actor in the movie.

But the real treat for me is The Mind of Mr. Soames (1970) with Terence Stamp.
Absolutely. I was overjoyed to see it scheduled.
Not that it's relevant, but I'll watch anything that's got a substantial part in it for Robert Vaughn.

Could be Edmond O'Brien. It will be the 100th anniversary of his birth and he'd be a good choice.
That's a great guess, Helen!
Hope you're right.

Why misswonderly, you are now misswonderly the third. Just noticed that. No harm, no foul ... so long as you stay misswonderly.
What - no EdithsHead2?

Brian's Song 1971
Very famous in its time. Almost as famous as 'The Night Stalker'.
'The Glass House' (1972) starred Alan Alda and Vic Morrow - a lot of people here would love to see that one. Also starred Clu Gulager and Billy Dee Williams.
'Isn't It Shocking?' (1973) was another good one with Alda - and it co-starred Edmond O'Brien, Ruth Gordon and Will Geer.
There are so many, they'll be coming to mind for months if I don't actively go looking them up.

Now that's just downright disgusting. Saying "yepper" out loud in public like that.
Yipper.
That's kind of what it became before long. Accent on the er.

Calling Sherlock Holmes, you are needed to deduce the imposter, lol.
Another member who witnessed a couple of posts that were removed explained this to me, MovieMadness.
So, a funny comment now that I understand it. Thumbs up.

I'm afraid so, Swithin baby. Those children's show hosts had a hidden agenda, and it wasn't pretty.
If it's any consolation, I meant to confess on that "Bugs Bunny" thread that was going on a few weeks ago that as a seven-year-old, I actually had a crush on Bugs Bunny.
A crush on a person who was not only a cartoon character, but a wabbit. Not even a human cartoon character. Plus the age difference. How preverted of me.
Bunny lover.

It's probably not a good idea to have TCM show television movies, since there's a good reason they appeared on television and not on cinema. However, I am curious about the 1980 movie The Mystery of Eva Ryker which I saw the first half hour or so, but never saw the rest of.
The reason was so they could keep people home watching instead of going out to the theater. Made-for-tv movies were direct competition to theater movies. That's why they were made - they were the replacement for what used to be known as b-movies or second features in the theater business. As long as they were stand-alone films - and not part of a series - I have no problem whatsoever with TCM showing them. In fact, they SHOULD show them. They are legitimate movies.

There are SO many!!
The first one I'll mention is the first one that's coming to mind.
An absolutely beautiful love story that had me shivering (and I'm a tough guy) - it was called 'In Love with an Older Woman' (1982). John Ritter was the star. Wonderful movie.

Hope they gave him some Emmy's for that.
