  1. I think what you are looking for is called *Digital Recombination.* The explanation is a bit long so here is the faq http://digitalcontentproducer.com/mag/video_first_person_restoring/
  2. Testing 1,2,3.... testing 1,2,3 Yes this site works, nothings wrong with it
  3. Ever seen blood and guts in an old cowboy or gangster movie? Since when does a Thompson submachine gun leaves a *clean* kill? We see this weapon a lot in 1930's movies and this gun when used up close is considered a barbaric weapon. "The Saint Valentines Day Massacre" (1967) doesn't even come close to what actually happened. One of the victims had only half a head!
  4. Miscast? *Any* movie that stars Adam Sandler. Hillery Duff in "Casper Meets Wendy" (1998). She is too snotty, arrogant, disrespectful and not all that cute. Jeffery Montgomery should have spent money on a talent search (and read up on charactor history). Political correctness doesn't always work!
  5. You must have heard about the Upper Big Branch mine disaster in West Virginia that killed 29 miners that is run by the Massey Energy Company. Recent update on it http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/business/s_687376.html We should include films that shows how miners been fighting for better working conditions. One of the best is the movie "Matewan" (1987) which is about the Matewan Massacre in 1920. The story about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Matewan Another movie "The Molly McGuires" (1970) starring Sean Connery is very good. One might think of "October Sky" (1999) that stars Chris Cooper who played the title role in "Matewan". This movie covers more of the story of The Rocket Boys even though it shows the hardships in living in a coal mining town. This movie is a bit recent and might be better suited for AMC but TCM has been showing movies made in the 2000's so why not? Thanks for starting this thread. 6. Too bad Bruce Willis is not in the upcoming "Predators" (2010) movie. Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver? That could work. For romance, they could have a pair of male/female Predators mating on the big screen. Edited by: hamradio on Jun 24, 2010 9:10 PM
  7. Have an idea for a movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger's paired with Sigourney Weaver called "Die Alien DIE!" In this movie there is no mercy and no prisoners taken. (kill them all and let God sort them out) *What a great pair that could be!*
  8. The ending of "Battleship Potemkin" had an ending I'm not accustom to. I know nothing about this 1905 event which is 12 years before the 1917 Russian Revolution overthrow of the Czar. Since the navy joined them, historicaly speaking what happened afterwards? How did the Czar dealed with the navy that mutinied? Leaves a lot to imagine what the Czar did considering how ruthless he dealt with the protestors at Odessa.
  9. You might have misunderstood my reply. Yes it would be great if all stations got RID of their logos. What I was stating is that if other channels needs to show their logos, I wish they were like TCM's. Many logos are too large, colorful, and/or too bright! TCM so far has the least instrusive logo I can live with. I like to add that many publc domain DVD's also has logos which is *greatly unjustified!!*. I just recently bought "Helen's Babies" and it has this annoying "Videobrary* at the bottom right, which is shown throughout the entire movie! Last year I bought 3 episodes of "Hawaiian Eye" off Ebay and its shows the "Goodtimes" channel logo, so I know it was recorded off the air - the reason the logos are required, so I can't complain about that one. :| Edited by: hamradio on Jun 22, 2010 12:48 PM

She can't stand the very sight of the actor James Olson, don't have the slightest clue why. There is another actor but I don't know his name at present. (he looked like our local, long since passed TV repairman). Personally the actor Pee Wee Herman gets on my nerves. (mildly speaking) I only wish...
  11. There is a recent TV movie made about Richard Speck http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0995033/ but I vaguely remembered a very early TV dramatization about the murders, it was I beleive on the old "CBS Late Night Movie" back in the 1970's. Your reference to the nurses and hiding under the bed jog a very old memory.
  12. Kelsey Grammer as the Tinman? I found a *better* one. Far as casting is concerned, this is the worst Tinman of all time.
  13. You can say this is a before and after reply. When you first posted this thread, I have never seen the classic silent "The Battleship Potemkin" (1925). The reason, I forgot and missed it the last time it aired. Well I finally seen it tonight June 21st on "Silent Sunday Night". A very good movie but did this movie ended without an *end?* I mean the battleship and the Czar's squadron met without firing a shot and waved at each other and The End. OK what else happened. (where's a sequel when one is really needed??) :|
  14. You get better results with a 2 X 4 and a kind word then just a kind word. *(Marcus Cole* Babylon 5) I am waiting for someone to use the quotes of Fisher Stevens in "Short Circuit". i.e. I am standing here beside myself. lol. Edited by: hamradio on Jun 20, 2010 11:28 PM
  15. Lol what are you complaining about? TCM has the smallest, dimmest, less intrusive logo I have seen on any channel. Its my greatest wish if other channels did the same, besides it is shown very little. Since we are on the subject I wish news channels like CNN get rid of all that garbage at the bottom of the screen, its *very distractive!* (Bring back 1980's format CNN PLEASE!!) While I was typing this, I scanned through all the channels and the LMN channel seems to have the largest of all, showing their logo plus whats playing! *That* is worth complaining about.
  16. Maybe they think 2 heads are better then 1? Speaking of remakes, rehashes, redos, etc, read this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_Five-O_(2010_TV_series) You will have to scroll down to the 2010 version.

  18. My username speaks for itself, it reflects my hobby which is amateur radio, electronic construction / kit building and SWL (shortwave listening). I mostly like constructing electronic projects and when I signed on I was deciding whether to use hamradio or kitbuilder, the first sounded better. My last project was building a Heathkit IM-22 a couple of months ago. I got on here to find movies I never seen before, this site has been a big help and is mostly safe and friendly. Never encountered any viruses or trojan horses on this TCM site which is rare on the internet. Sorry but I will NOT give out my name or any personal info for obvious reasons. *Better safe than sorry.* Like to use this time to say I like this forum very much and if I ever in the past offended anyone, I am sorry for that, any blunders were unintended. I've learned a lot from here. (movies and dealing with people!) 2007 was something to behold!
  19. I know that feeling, I hate those *large* instruction manuals in pdf format. Its hard enough to read them in paperback. Many new devices like DVD recorders has manuals that takes as long to read as a book store novel. My largest one is the manual for the Packkit 232 Terminal Node Controller. I had to buy a seperate binder for it. It is 8 1/2 x 11" and is approx 2 inches thick!
  20. I fixed it. In General Discussions use the exclamation mark before http and another exclamation after jpg. Don't type in **.
  21. Here is a couple of reconstructed mockups of how they think the Antikythera Mechanism was made. I first heard of this on the History Channel, really blows my mind. The anceints were more smarter than a lot of people gives them credit for ( BS ET didn't help them either!!). I would bet that the diagrams and instructions were at the anceint Library of Alexandria before it was destroyed. One can only imagine what other wonders we don't know about. They have my admiration and respect . In my book we are not all that!
  22. Here is the contest of the name change from Lucille Le Sueur to Joan Crawford. Glad you posted this tidbit about Joan Crawford. http://www.legendaryjoancrawford.com/namecontest.html
