Would be a nice place to drill. I bet they are drooling as we speak.

I am completely floored by this disaster. I always thought they had the "capping technology" to employ just in case such an event happened. Apparnetly not!!

All I can say is that the US should BAN anymore offshore drilling until such a technology is developed! You will see how fast the oil companies get their butts moving!
Funny, they can stop all those badly damaged oil wells in Kuwait during the Gulf War and put a spacecraft into orbit around Saturn but they can't plug a single pipe. Unbeleivable.
About cleaning up some of the mess, give the BP executives a truck load of Sham-wows and say get to work. Oh by the way, give Costner an acting gig, he has too much time on his hands playing in the bathtub with an oily rubber duck.

Sad news, she was beautiful. RIP.
Lena Horne also appeared in an episode of "Sanford and Son - A Visit from Lena Horne" (1973).

Yes, to see the 4:3 aspect you will have the black bars at the side. I work at a place where they have a HDTV hooked up to standard cable and they keep it on the 16:9 setting and it makes everyone looks fat! (and everything else out of proportion).
I have a color bar dot generator and I use it to demonstrate to some how the normal cross hatch looks on a standard TV and when I hook it up to a hi def TV, its shows how stretched out the picture is. Some I showed still don't get it.
Each aspect has to be properly set for proper viewing.
If one would to hook up a color bar generator and set it to cross hatch, the *normal* appearance for the 4:3 setting should look like this on *any* TV set. It will have to be connected to the composite in or the video in. They don't support HDMI. I hope this helps.

Have you seen the movie "Apocalypco"? It portrayed how savage the Mayan's were toward their own people (mainly toward other tribes). It was very gory.
The part that amused me was when the Mayan warrior rename his captured victim Jaguar Paw, *Almost.* When they got to the scene where Jaguar Paw's (Almost) wife gave birth while in the rain filled hole, I thought I name the baby *Almost Drowned.*

This thread is a little heated, so I thought I add a little humor.
Now *this* is last of the *Mohicans!*
Can't wait for the *Mohawk* and *Apache* (RX-1 and TX-1)

A rogue satellite might disrupt cable services for some around May 23rd. Who didn't see this coming! The story here.

Comcast is mum on the subject, DUH!? :|

This is a race thread and it is true that its best people realize that the older classic movies were made during a different time period using different values from what we use today.
This site might address this thread better then I, which can go south in a heartbeat.

About Mummy Dearest or "Mommie Dearest", does anyone wonder how does Christina Crawford celebrate Mothers Day?
By the way, I like the first reply.

This is a reply from the lock out thread that was ask by MovieProfessor, why don't they call themselves 21st Century Fox?
Well there is already a UK based studio called "Century 21" by Gerry Anderson. I see it at the opening title of my "UFO" Laserdisc.

Plus there is a company called "21 Century Productions". I think anyone now using that title fowards or backwards will be copyright infringement" Of course anyone with good lawyers and money can try.

"The Dark Crystal" is NOT a hit but a major flop back in 1982. I thought it fell off the face of the Earth. I've seen it advertised in a movie magazine back in 1982 and that's the last I've ever heard of it since.
Better ways for a film studio to lose money..

What cinema history would it have been if Gene Kelly starred in a psychopathic musical. I can just hear him singing "I'm Slashing in the Rain".

The fact Deanna Durbin retired because she got fed up with Hollywood, doesn't mean she wasted her life. People try to get her to talk and as she plainly stated in her last interview, she wants to be left alone.
I respect her wishes and admire her convictions in not to be forced to explain her reasons for which it is a *personal* matter.
Hollywood to her is not all that!

Funny, I thought something similiar while watching "Pirates of the Caribbean" (finally) the other night. Yawn!
"The Black Swan" made better sense for sure.

Happy Birthday Robert Osborne!

Jake,. I've heard that in old Hollywood, they sometimes don't even tell them that they are fired. The poor actors find out they are out of work when they are simply locked out of the studio and can't get past the front gate. That is cruel beyond belief how some studios treat people.

I just came across this article about Shirley, just learned that her husband passed on a few years ago. Very sad to hear that. Its a miracle that Graham Greene had not been lynched by an angry mob.
I know John Agar would have been if they found out that he punched out a pregnant Shirley - that's from the book "Shirley Temple - American Princess". It was quoted in the book, she never saw the fist coming. Wonder how many John Agar fans will there be after reading this?
-
Shirley Temple lost virtually most of her childhood income due to her father, George Temple taking the advice of his finacial lawyer not the report certain amounts paid as income. The IRS got wind of this and the rest is history.

William Shakespeare was right on the money (Henry VI - Part 2)

Like to add that many early child stars saw very little of what they earned due to greedy parents.
Some very sad stories out there.

<< At the end of the film appeared: ?To Be Continued.? Well, something went terribly wrong and the series was never rejuvenated. >>
Don't you hate when *that* happens. A similair thing happened with the series "Crusade". It ended suddenly without proper conclusion.
Maybe (Andy Hardy) is something as simple as Louie B. Mayer forgot to remind himself.

Lol, 50 years later some idiot in North Korea forgot to rebuild the power station.

It is no threat at all, just set your TV to the proper aspect! This info should help you.

By the way to avoid burn-in with the black bars keep the brightness down. I have never lost a TV or computer monitor in my life due to burn-in.
