Thought I add this "Interceptor" photo I came across. Shows the creativity of producers in 1969. What can't they be this creative today?

There are so many very good actors that it is hard for me to make a top ten list. Every poster so far has a great list and I noticed we don't list modern contemporary actors that deserves recognition. My list is not in order but the first 2, I wouldn't have chosen a few years back but their roles in recent movies made me out of fairness to include them.
For theatrical movies
1. Nicolas Cage
2. Tom Hanks
3. Boris Karloff
4. Bela Lugosi
5. Burt Reynolds
6. Clint Eastwood
7. Harrison Ford tie with William Shatner
8. James Cagney
9. Humphrey Bogard
10. John Wayne
We forget that actors in our favorite TV series are just as important, lets be fair about it.
1. Bruce Boxleitner
2. Ed Bishop
3. Buddy Ebsen
4. Andy Griffith tie with Don Knotts
5. Jack Lord tie with Mike Conners
6. Ted Knight
7. Desi Arnaz
8. Gary Cole
9. Patrick Stewart
10. Jack Webb

With the exception of "The Little Princess" the remainder are her teenage movies, 4 are very rare...
Kathleen
That Hagen Girl
Adventure In Baltimore (virtually an adult here)
The Story of Seabiscuit
Cary Grant was the first actor to steal the movie from her in "The Bachelor And The Bobby-Soxer", lol!
I saw her first movie in 1979 on my local PBS station, "The Little Colonel". Whenever I see Lionel Barrymore in that getup, I get a craving for KFC.
One Movietone newsreel showing her 6th birthday party and I learned later on, she was not allowed to keep a single gift, all went to charity. THAT STINKS!!!
My mom always loved her because she grew up during the same time period. She has a few collectables, the last being this one.

Happy Birthday Shirley

How about 1969-1970 British? I just bought this laserdisc and loved it - got it today. Gerry Anderson was ahead of his time. Very interesting that the ground control at SHADO told the space intercepters to switch to internal computers. I never heard this until the 1977 movie of "Star Wars". Look like the intercepters in 'UFO" and the X-wing fighters in "Star Wars" were built at the same factory! Even has the same red / white color scheme. Has some space hardware that looks like it could be used in our next moon mission planned very soon.
Nice job Gerry! This disc was made in 1990. How about the purple hair fashion, lol!
By the way the aliens used *liquid breathing* this concept too was ahead of its time in 1969! Sorry "The Abyss" fans, Gerry beat them to it!

If the low quality DVD is the only thing out there, then buy it. Its better then nothing. One can always upgrade in the future. About waiting for TCM to show it, there is always hope.

I beleive what I've seen, Hollywood treated them very well, they have always been portrayed in a positive light or as victims. There have been some movies with a little sarcasm thrown in.
Personally, I can never in my life understand the bigotry some people has toward them.

Since this is a race thread please tread carefully, I'm certain the TCM Web Admin already has the little blue padlock sitting on the desk, so I'm saying little.
I don't know the behind the scenes in the upcoming "Race and Hollywood".

The only Marvel classic thats better suited for TCM would be "Captain America" (1944), a Republic serial film based (loosely) on the comic book character Captain America. It was the last Republic serial made about a superhero.
It is known for being the most expensive serial that Republic ever made. Great for a Saturday matinee.
Most of the Marvel movies I've seen is too soon for TCM, better for AMC.

Has anyone noticed there are 3 threads here alone with the heavenly theme?

Add this to TCM's collection.

I was thinking "Weekend at Bernies" and since Hitchcock is dead he's *Bernie!*
On second thought if he *did* appear, I will go out the back door and if there is none, I'll make one.

Lol, should we go down that street? http://www.hammerheadpress.com/Authors/Dick_Long.html

I thought TCM was trying to attract a wider audience.
If anyone's interested, Kim Jong Il's ringtones and wallpaper (even the kinky ones) are on the internet.

-
What, no "Heaven Can Wait" (1943), starring Don Ameche, Gene Tierney?

-
I have a photo of Marilyn Monroe's chest (no fooling) but I don't think the TCM Web Admin will let me post it.

X-ray?? Who cares, how many times did the doctor said to her, please wait while I make final adjustments. Lucky stiff.

LOL, I love the movie posters hype. Did many men during the same time period said that after a divorce settlement?

Gloria Stuart would be a great person for TCM to celebrate the 4th of July! Wonder will her birthday cake have a 100 Roman Candles on it?
Also it be a good idea to mention people in their mid to late 90's because it takes TCM *that long* to air something after requesting it.

Miriam Seegar was born on September 1, 1907. She got her start in silent films but it was near the end of that era. Not many people left.

Baby Marie Osborne will be turning 100 in 2011, born November 5, 1911

These poor kids of celebrities will have to get their names change just to have a decent life

And people wonder why do children kill their parents.

wouldbester, I'm glad that photo brought back memories for you. I live in a town that still has *3* old style barber shops along with the poles. You might be glad to know they are still being made and still hand crafted (another thing of the past). http://www.nationwidebeauty.com/Equipment/Barber-Poles-Signs_2/Marvy-Barber-Pole-824-Two-Light

Lol, in the movie "Little Miss Marker" (1934), thats what Shirley Temple thought that was, a giant peppermint stick.
I got to thinking about those 2 dopes who gave it to her, Paramount should had used that hype to make a 1930's version of "Dumb and Dumber". They were called Sore Toe and Canvas Back in the movie and would had been perfect! Another golden oppurtunity missed.
