If OJ Simpson taught us anything is the contrast between a celebrity commiting a crime in LA and in Las Vegas. The jury there gave him a knock out punch! (referring to "Goldie and the Boxer" (1979))
What was I thinking training OJ

Question: If one would to have changed their internet provider and the email address is no longer valid, does that change your account status, that is even though you no longer had that email address would your TCM account stay active?
-
That would had made a great Christmas gift for Dick Cheney.

I bet the channels that squashes the end titles to the side or titles that goes by at 90 mph must be a nightmare.
Now who was that foley artist in "Ernest Goes to Camp"?

Wonder does Chicago have a type of Serpico character? Or is one needed.
http://www.topix.com/forum/chicago/T824S2795RA2KQ2AV
"Serpico" was one of the earliest Rated R movies I remembered with the profanity - lame today.
OMG ROFL I hope this thread don't give kimpunkrock another reason to hate New York.

I watched it back then and knew from the onset it was an anti Reagan propaganda movie. The producers must thought I was born yesterday. Well with all the hysteria that was generated, it proved that Reagan was right and we won the cold war.
Who can forget "Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall!" Ronald Reagan
A movie that has a similiar title "The Day After Tomorrow" I've also seen. Can't make any jokes, South Park beat me to it *big time*. ****, the episode "Two Days Before the Day After Torrorrow".
TCM let us know at least 2 days before showing "The Day After" and 1 day before "The Day After Tomorrow". Waiting a day after might cause panic among TCM viewers. Lol.
Glad "Annie" has a better optmistic look on life.
I think one of the best movies of the time period was "WarGames". Did Dr Steven Falken and the conclusion the WOPR computer came to taught us *something?*
Anyone up for a game of Tic Tac Toe?

I should have provided a link for verification. Go to this site http://pleaseyourself.ca/photo%20gallery.htm and scroll about 65% of the way down, you will see 3 photos along with info on the Bounty which states -
"St. Petersburg, Florida has temporarily moored the Bounty that was used in the movie Mutiny On The Bounty, the version with Marlon Brando. The Bounty ship was built in 1960 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, for MGM studios for the movie. Completely seaworthy and built the same as it was 200 years ago, from the original ships drawings still on file in the British Admiralty archives. The only change to the original plans was the addition of twin engines. Upon completion of construction in Lunenburg the Bounty sailed to Tahiti to shoot Mutiny On The Bounty.
The maidenhead of the Bounty.
The square-rigged tall ship Bounty. This replica is an impressive sight. Hollywood doesn't make movie props like this anymore. It's all computer digitized"

Regardless, what pirate loving kid wish he was there in St Petersburg for the photo op.
-
I'm not 100% certain but the website where I downloaded the photo claims this is the ship used during the filming. The ship in the photo was docked at St Petersburg, Florida.

I get TCM on my D10-300 Directv receiver that has 2 seperate outputs, both has a nice even sound / video quality. When I listen through my TV set, the volume is set about 35%. When I listen though my Realistic STA-2200 Receiver the volume is at the 10 oclock setting.
My hookup from my Directv is - 1st output goes to my audio/video selector switch and the other output is to my Panasonic DMR-EZ28 which records TCM perfectly. So my sound is great with no distortion at all.
Your problem is more likely with your cable provider since you claim the other channels are OK.

What Fred suggested, it would be a disaster twice over. Pray the producer don't want a sex scene.

A fitting end to a has been silent star? That romance would be like "Harold and Maude" (20 year old man meets 100 year old woman??)

LOL, I knew those California cows were up to something but couldn't put my finger on it.
My idea was based on the documentary. Romance is generally in these types of movies. Boy and girl reunited and stand on a California beach holding hands while this fireball that covered the horizon was coming at them at Mach 1.
I like to clarify that this is NOT a typical methane eruption one see in blowouts with careless drilling but a super gigantic release of gas that is the size of California, so violent is the force itself according to Gregory Ryskin, it can cause tsunamis that would make the Indonesian one that has become infamous look pale by comparision.
Gregory Ryskin's Methane Theory does have its doubters but these people are the ones that under estimate the power of mother nature.
The upside is that imagine if we could tap or recover all this methane, we could shut down ALL coal burning and nuclear power plants in the world and run them on natural gas. Much less impact and if anyones argument is the release of CO2 in the process, don't forget methane is also a greenhouse gas so why not use it? Its going to be released anyhow without our help, plus there are less emissions then burning coal and no more nuclear waste to contend with. (its the less of the 3 evils).
Footnote: I don't beleive in the global warming myth, if it was not for the mini Ice Age we had between 1350 - 1850, the poles would had already since melted LONG ago, The Vikings didn't call that place *Greenland* for nothing!

Welcome to the boards. This link might help with some info
http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?messageID=8331791
Personaly I don't have HD because I bought a new SD television back in 2005 and the HD sets at the time were still expensive. I won't throw away a perfectly good operating TV set and I have Directv that gives me a very nice sharp picture.
When my set goes on the fritz then I will get one but it might be a while before I get HD itself. When they offer me the exact same number of channels I still get in SD at the same price, then I'll upgrade. I'm a person that does not beleive in planned obsolescence.
That policy has created WASTE in this country, very senseless that we as a people consume 75% of the worlds resources but represents approx 10% of the worlds population. Still thinking about the thousands of perfectly good operating TV sets getting dumped in our landfills.
By the way I don't even have a cell phone or XM - very useless to me as my last major power outage taught me. Still had communications while other people had no phone and got power updates on my local FM station that had a backup power generator.
Pity our spoiled rotten society when our satellites gets fried by a super massive solar flare or a terrorist detonating a very powerful E-bomb in Earths orbit.

I just saw this episode of "Mega Disasters" on The History Channel about Gregory Ryskin's Methane Theory (Global Methane Eruption)..
http://www.mccormick.northwestern.edu/news/articles/313
After seeing this, I thought this scenerio would be great idea for a movie thriller. I don't know of any movie that had this global disaster in its plot. Any opinions? It beats constant remakes and I have never heard of such a calamity affecting the Earth.
Trying to think of a title but "The Day the Earth Caught Fire" is already taken which has a different plot.
Suggestions? I hope some sci fi / thriller movie producer is reading this.
Anyone curious about this, it will replay at 1:00 AM tonight on The History Channel.
Edited by: hamradio on Jan 20, 2010 10:44 PM OOPS an hour to early on the replay

My grandparents and great grandparents lived to be in their 80's to 90's. The only medical care came from the old fashion country doctor with his little black bag. Personally, I live a clean life - no smoking, drinking, etc. Am in my mid 50's and have no health issues. NEVER paid a penny in medical insurance in my entire life.
I think we need to get back to common sense living,
I rather be treated by his type below than all the fancy over expense medical care in the world. Funny I have no anxiety at all. Go figure.
Doc in "Gunsmoke"

PS Chances are the TCM Web Administrator will humanely put this thread to "sleep".

I like most of his movies, watched them a lot during the 1960's to 70's. I'm glad he turned Godzilla from villian into hero in later movies. I have never understood what those huge energy weapons the Japanese military hauled around on transports. (hard to Google something when you don't know its name). One thing that stood out like a sore thumb sometimes was the miniature military vehcles used on the set, they jiggled like they were toys because in most part, they were!
That unque "directed sound" weapon Rodan used is pretty neat, it sliced like a ginzu knife. A student in my high school class asked could that be actually done and my science teacher said no and if we ever came up with such a weapon, it would be as powerful as a nuclear device.
I just found out we can do it on a small scale http://www.scienceupdate.com/show.php?date=20051122
I didn't like the baby Godzilla too well, it made the movie a bit silly. It looked like the baby dinosaur in the short run "Dinosaurs" series. (not the mama!!) lol.

"Godzilla, King of the Monsters" (1954) with Raymond Burr is a *classic!*

Time Magazine back then called it the "dirtiest American-made motion picture that had ever been legally exhibited". Lol, if they only knew of things to come. Just wondering what would have happened if they saw "Pretty Baby" back then.
*Stand back - CLEAR*.....sha pune.

When you said "35mm quality soundtrack", is it variable density or one of the forms of variable area?
Its always the best to get as close to the original as possible. NTA are copies.
I have 2, 10 min variable density 16mm film shorts, one is Western Electric and the other is Powers Cinephone. Both of them came from the former Blackhawk Films.

Me, noticed?? Ah cha cha cha!

I just saw the commercial for it on the Discovery Channel and its what I thought it would be - another "lets see if CGI makes a better movie" type of film.
Wake me up when its over

In this case the statute of limitations stopped running the day he fled the country. This also applies to any felony. People who think all they need to do is commit a crime, go hide in another country and come back when they think its long forgotten is in for an unpleasant surprise.
The statute of limitations on statutory rape varies from state to state and it varies on the seriousness of the crime but in certain cases like this if the person does not flee and the authorities do not pursue the open case, that person can walk when time on it expires.
An article that you might be interested in http://teenadvice.about.com/od/sexuallyactive/a/statutoryrape1.htm
If you think this case is *unfair* it pales to this story. http://www.tressugar.com/3313162
Like I have stated on another thread, I want Polanski to be treated like the average Joe that commited the same crime. His status should be no factor. Simple fair treatment for all!
