  1. Welcome to the boards, lol I think TCM could use you, there are tons of unreleased films in studio vaults.

There is a film restoration project with "Helen's Babies" and I was told the person involved passed away and the movie is in limbo. This is the *last* surviving Baby Peggy silent movie. Maybe you can give it a shot.

    http://www.silentsaregolden.com/featurefolder6/helensbabiespage.html

I myself have only limited knowledge about film restoration, I would simply be trilled if the studios just release their "forgotten" films and if money is an issue then show them as is.

  2. Before I start, this is my first post since my posting blunder a few weeks back, hopefully I've gotten a little wiser.

About the "Parent Trap", which version do you like the best, the original with Hayley Mills or the 1998 remake? I like the original better.

It was a filming challange back then to do "doubles" compared to today with the benefit of computers.

  3. I hope the following explanation explains the reason I posted it. At the time of posting it, I totally forgot about her death and if you remembered her during the 1980's she always over did it a bit with makeup. I thought the picture of her on CNN was simply the ravages of time and nothing else.

I do not make fun of people who are sick and members here know I don't do stuff like that and I will correct any errors such as that.

I figuered I will mess up sooner of later - with nearly 2,000 post, its a miracle it haven't happen sooner.

Thanks for accepting my apology. I think I should give this board a rest for a while.

  4. I want to apologise for the photo, I absolutely FORGOT about her death, only heard about it only once and it slipped my mind. I thought she was still alive and was married. My mind was on the 1980's PTL scandel. Again sorry.

I was Googling photos with her name and that photo was in the group so I posted it without reading that website.

We all make mistakes and I can not remember *everything and everyone* thoughout history.. That explains why the first reply after mine was a bit confusing.

I don't do stuff like that.

  5. Now that's justice, Charles Bronson in " Kinjite - Forbidden Subjects".

Go ahead, make my day, Clint Eastwood in "Sudden Impact".

I'm standing here beside myself and The crowds are making him dog sick, Fisher Stevens in "Short Circuit".

short of putting them in a capsule and shooting it into the sun and before it gets crazy??, Claudia Christian (Susan Ivanova) in "Babylon 5".

a vow for frowns, Robin Williams in "The World According to Garp".

is there anything you don't beleive in?, Don Knotts in "The Private Eyes" responding to Tim Conway saying It's Santa! - no wonder he didn't come, after finding a skeleton wearing a Santa suit.

The most recent and still smiling from it If my parents finds out, they will bury me alive and dance on my grave the charactor Wilbur Robinson in "Meet the Robinsons".

Not a movie line but a one liner that still brings me a smile every time I hear it.

Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall !! by Ronald Reagan on June 12, 1987. (well he was an actor after all, lol)

  6. No, the History Channel but the movie "Public Enemies" covers the same topic which I haven't seen yet. I'm in no big rush, just waiting for it to get to one of the premium channels. Saving it when there is nothing else on. Should be on within the next few months.

Hope to find out what does Baby Face Nelson has against cows, lol!

  7. For sound movies, my top 10 are

    Star Wars, A New Hope

    Smokey and the Bandit

    The Swarm

Harper Valley PTA (my LP is *green!* )

    Rocky

    Annie

    Skatetown USA

    Purple Rain

    Caddyshack

    Beverly Hills Cop

For silent movies, referring to the music score

    The Ragman

    Captain January

Nosferatu (the version TCM *has not* showned in the past 3 years)

    The Jazz Singer

    Napolean

There is a couple of others I can't think off the bat.

  8. I think you should Google it if you know what I'm talking about. It might not be agreeable with the TCM Web Administrator.

Hint: Its not just for infants any more, lol! My mom told me about this a few years ago after seeing the subject on the Oprah Winfrey Show, she was not please with the topic. Since then I've seen similiar subject matters on 20/20, National Geographics "Taboo" and Weirdspot.com -keyword teenage. I think its becoming a trend.

I think any alien life seeing this before landing will do a 180 and go back at Warp 10.

  9. I would say any of the early silents that has a grainy appearance or have been restored a bit to late. Anything shot by Thomas Edison i.e. "The Christmas Secert" (1898) a nice little Xmas movie short. I wish TCM show that one again!

Any of the surviving Baby Peggy silents.

"The Bluebird" (1918) that was saved *just in the nick of time!*

Here is a snapshot taken from my DVD-ROM drive of the movie showing the nitrate decomposition scene that was left in. I'm glad it was, some of the newly restored silent prints has such material removed and replaced with a still. The woman is the sick girls mother, yeah I know, how *drunk* was that guy, lol!! (Best argument for Prohibition????)

    347cpir.jpg

Just for the sake of argument, does "Howard the Duck" need to be on Blu ray?

  10. You really got me to thinking about the present DVD / Blu ray technology and you will have to see this to beleive it. Use the Zoom in whenever possible.

How about a DVD player with *vacuum tube / HDMI output!!*

    http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/220620327/Vacuum_Tube_DVD_Player_FT800_FM.html

A hybrid CD player with vacuum tube amplifier already built in

    http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=VICDS6%20%20%20%20SIL

And to top it off check out the Blu-ray.com discussion forum about adding vacuum tube amplifiers.

    http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=60734&page=2

    Am I'm right or what?

  11. These two sites should expalin.

    http://www.electronics-tutorials.com/receivers/regen-radio-receiver.htm

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regenerative_circuit

They can be tricky to use. For *local* radio stations its no big deal but for shortwave or DX AM broadcast, there is a fine balance between tuning and regeneration level. Most people who don't know about these receivers but comes across them thinks they are broken. Its just that they need a long wire antenna, about 100 - 130 feet, a *good* ground and needs to know how to operate the set.

Trivia: On the wiki site above, they mention the name Lee De Forest. He is the same guy who invented the vacuum tube and *sound on film recording - Phonofilm!* You might remembered the old TCM thread from about a year ago when the topic was about the earliest sound on film recordings besides the Vitaphone disc recordings.

Radio is what got the ball rolling for the development of talking pictures. So when you listen to the *sound* in movies, you have this old radio tech to thank!
