Jerry Lewis has passed on, release the movie and let the public decide if it's in poor taste or not. Forgot the name but there is a TV movie where a night club comedian was arrested by the Gestapo, so "The Day the Clown Cried" is true to form in that regard. Nazi's don't clown around. -

Shirley Temple: 13 Facts You Should Know

The hidden message in the old 1980's Michelin tire ads....Drive on other brand of tires, you're putting your child's life at risk. That slogan would had been better suited here. -
Never heard of him in that film, nor seen any TV ads. Made changes on my OP to reflect your info
-
Trivia...One of his last movies was a flop, "Hardly Working" (1980) Try to get away with that today!

During this White House visit, Shirley made a slingshot bulls eye on Mrs Roosevelt rear end (I WOULD LOVE TO HAD SEEN THAT!). The incident didn't go unnoticed by her mother whom gave Shirley an old fashion over the knee spanking with a ruler. She claim it broke! ouch! -

Shirley Temple: 13 Facts You Should Know

This stuff is old news, lol. John Agar was an abusive drunk whom punched Shirley out while carrying their first child Susan. Imagine how the public would had reacted to that?! Shirley was quoted...I never saw the fist coming. Baby Burlesks are of bad taste but not provocative. Were an attempt at early satire / parodies of movies i.e. "The War Wagon" , actresses, directors, etc. Few people thinks it's an exploitation of kids....need to get their minds out of the gutter. The one that puzzles me is "Polly Tix in Washington", whom are they ridiculing? Tried to find some Washington, DC scandal during the early 30's that fits but came up empty - some Congressman got involved with a prostitute About her birthdays, one Movietone newsreel showing her celebrating her 6th (she actually was 7). She was not allowed to keep a single gift! Surprised they let her have some cake in that farce of a birthday party - misleading publicity! A lot of info can be found in this book. -
Come across this a lots of times, a movie / documentary now playing doesn't match the Directv guide.

How come Burt Lancaster didn't appear in any movies in 1967?
hamradio replied to TopBilled's topic in General Discussions
Doesn't count if the screen is small? Long as Burt was in front of a camera, doubt if he cared. Made for TV films doesn't have the budget or quality of theatrical movies but there have been times big screen films has stunk worst. -

hamradio replied to TopBilled's topic in General Discussions
Burt and his wife Norma separated in 1967 because of alcoholism, was stressful. Doubt if he could concentrate on acting. Both finally divorce in 1969. If it's any comfort, he didn't appear in any movie theatrical or television in 1984. Hopefully now won't lose any sleep tonight over this. -
