    OOPS! Yeah, you're right!

(...forgot about that needless 'u' in that word there TOO, didn't I?!) ;)

Actually other English speaking countries do spell it colour but WE have to be special. ;)

So in the UK, this old TV series would had been "The FBI - In Colour". :P

Doubtful. First, Terry-Thomas never made the money that Fox has. Based on different sources, his net worth is somewhere between $65 million and $245 million. It's unlikely that Fox will need charitable assistance.

Second, Fox has a stronger family unit supporting him. He's been married to his wife Tracy Pollan for 30 years. They have three children.

Third, he's a fighter. He continues to act and raise money for Parkinson's awareness and research.

I was referring to the toll Parkinson's takes on the human body.

Micheal is lucky to have just an equally supportive wife and family.

One hundred years ago today, five orchestral pieces named for the planets -- musical creations by the British composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934) -- were first performed in public. The performance, conducted by Adrian Boult, was held at Queen's Hall in London for 250 invited guests.

Holst added two more movements to "The Planets" -- and the suite has endured, influencing the popular culture over the years.

The overall pieces are (the selections in bold were performed on September 29, 1918):

    • "Mars, the Bringer of War" (1914).
    • "Venus, the Bringer of Peace" (1914).
    • "Mercury, the Winged Messenger" (1916).
    • "Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity" (1914).
    • "Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age" (1915).
    • "Uranus, the Magician" (1915).
    • "Neptune, the Mystic" (1915)

In Philip Kaufman's "The Right Stuff" (1983), the re-creation of American astronaut John Glenn's historic liftoff from Cape Canaveral on February 20, 1962 used snippets from "Mars" (0:25), "Jupiter" (1:32) and "Neptune" (2:35). Bill Conti won the Academy Award for Best Original Score for his own contributions to the film.

Glenn was portrayed by actor Ed Harris.

John Williams' composition "The Imperial March" from "Star Wars: Episode 5 -- The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) is said to have been inspired by "Mars."

"Mars" apparently also influenced the score of "Gladiator" (2000), which earned an Academy Award nomination for Hans Zimmer. The British-based Gustav Holst Foundation certainly thought so, and filed suit in London -- declaring that part of the movie's soundtrack -- including "The Battle" -- infringed the copyright on "Mars."

Here's a fascinating report from NPR's Tom Huizenga about the anniversary:

Well then ham, here's another little bit of information for ya here...

See that Jaguar XJS convertible (or as those superfluous-u users who made 'em over there would call it, "a drophead coupe") you posted here?

    Well, don't ever buy one.

(...they're prone to overheat like crazy, and their electrical issues are notorious)

    ;)

Funny in all that air flow went into fast drying hair instead of cooling the engine. ;)

Sorry I'm not familiar with the scene, but I'm going to venture a guess: they were in a convertible car? Even when driving with windows down, my hair blows forward...it's just the dynamics of air flow. The windshield prevents air flow, making it go over the top, so it whirlwinds in from the side, from behind.

When my hair's long enough, it's always in my mouth.

Thanks, I've  been in a convertible only once in my life and was a kid at the time. Did some research and you're guess is correct.  Learn something new everyday. :)

  6. Watched and recorded "Solo" (2018) on Directv pay per view.  Alden Ehrenreich seems to be a good actor I can get use to but he simply don't have the chemistry as Harrison Ford.  Movie is a bit "cluttered" at times, hard to make out what is what.

    The Maelstrom? Whatever.

Was surprise to see Darth Maul.  Can still hear "I Fall To Pieces" at his memorial services. :P
