Thanks, but "Mr. Deeds Goes To Town" is not it. The boarder was an older gentleman trying to "get away" from things. He rented a room from a family in financial distress, & the family never knew he was wealthy. Because of their desperate situation & his desire to help them, he gave them $10,000 - anonymously. The money, a fortune for the time, put the family in a higher social standing & changed each member drastically, for the worse. They went thru the money pretty quick.

Saw this movie a long time ago...can't remember the characters or the name, just the plot. Older gentleman rents room & anonymously gives large sum of money to his hosts which changes their lives for the worse. That's all I can remember. Please help.

The move is about a family who takes in a boarder who later anonymously gives them a large sum of money that changes all their lives for the worse.
