[The Most Overrated and Most Underrated Movies]

Overrated: Citizen Kane, Lawrence of Arabia, Citizen Kane. Oh, and Citizen Kane. I heard about how wonderful it was for years and years; when I finally saw it (in a theater no less, not on a tv screen), my first last and only impression was "Just how many minutes of my life am I never going to get back?"

 

Underrated: To Have and Have Not, the Carry On movies, Guns at Batasi

I'm thrilled! I will FINALLY get all the Lupe Velez 'Mexican Spitfire' movies on my DVR!

 

Since seeing the first Mexican Spitfire movie, and seeing just what a **** Lupe Velez was, I'm very grateful that TCM is showing all of them.

[Film Noir meets Jethro & Elly May]

So I'm watching 'Murder By Contract' tonight, and when Vince Edwards goes to California for the big hit, he's riding from the airport in a convertible. The music playing in the background is the exact same music that played on 'The Beverly Hillbillies' whenever pretty girls would drive up to the Clampett mansion or Elly May was lounging out by the pool.

 

I don't know how they picked that music for the Hillbillies, but it DID make me think of California when I heard it in the movie.
