Hey, I know you guys have been talking about High Noon a lot more than me, but I noticed a couple of things today while puttering around the house. The clerk at the hotel(?) - he talks about how he doesn't like Will. He says, "At least there was a lot of business here when Frank Miller was in town. A lot of people think your husband deserves a come-uppance.... I'm not the only one" Is he actually the most honest character in the whole movie? I mean besides Will? Martin says, "I'm not going with you, Will. You'll be watchin out for me and get yourself killed." Did Martin do the right thing by deciding not to go? I can see the sense in what he says, but if he had gone, would others have followed, thereby saving the town?

Now, everybody drop their books at 2:30......

I think you would like it, Kathy. It is a war movie, which I usually don't like much, but it is so much more than that, and there ARE a lot of good looking men in it.....

In marching band, our favorite was always the Hogan's Heroes theme.....I still always hum the counter melody.... I didn't know this until just now, though I should have from the sound of it- he also wrote the National Geographic theme song....

I love Elmer Bernstein.... If you don't think he's great at scoring movies, just try to get through "The Great Escape" with the sound turned off.... You'll see how good he really is.....

I just wanted it to be more about standing on your own two feet. I felt that they dwelled (dwelt? is that a word? spellcheck says it is) a little too much on the "getting a man" thing. It seemed to me that becoming more attractive to men was the prime topic of the movie, and that's not what I thought it was about. That being said, I love looking at the scenery, and the house is to die for!

That's weird. I just looked up Murnau myself. That clip from Phantom was very intriguing, and I decided to get more of his movies. Femme, (May I call you a real name? Is it Michaela? Or am just confused as usual?) I just finally found out how to play movies straight from my Netflix queue onto my computer, and I picked..... *A Little Romance* It is as sweet as I remember. I am now dehydrated from crying, but I wanted to thank you for mentioning it the other day. You brought back some great memories of childhood for me. I always felt a connection to this one, being a smart kid who liked old movies. There are only a few movies that capture stages in childhood right, and this is one of them. I guess I can forgive Diane Lane for making *Under the Tuscan Sun* later.

You would think they would know better- I can't imagine that "The Women" remake did good box office- and yet they won't release real classics because the excuse is that "they don't make any money". And if the trend is to make musicals with non-singers, as I think it may be, they are really asking for a big bomb. Did I read somewhere that they were thinking of it as a vehicle for the ever present Keira? I wish she would drop off the face of the earth for a while. I am genuinely sick to death of her, and her overrated "acting" ability (they think she's hot, so she suddenly is a "great" actress). Ooooh. I'm getting snippy!
