Angelina will make a terrific Cleopatra.
-
Great poster- gorgeous use of color- love the 3-D effect composition.
-
I saw the movie on DVD and thought it was pretty good- at least they had some respect for the original source material and were trying to make a classic horror movie. I would have preferred Edward Norton to Benicio Del Toro who had no chemistry with his leading lady.
-
If Hammer in the 60's would have remade the Universal classic it might have looked something like this handsome richly atmospheric production. The director uses every classic horror movie element including those angry torch carrying villagers! The problem is that the movie is never scary- there is too much gore for gore sake- Rick Baker created a very effective update of the Jack Pierce original make-up.
-
A beautiful bore- this is an obvious attempt to revive the classic Arabian Nights fantasy adventure-but even with three credited screenwriters one has a hard time staying awake.
-
I've heard rumors that Lynch shot six hour cut-now that would be an interesting version to see on dvd or blu-ray.
-
That "Lili" poster is kind of freaky- is it a movie about a cute cyclop girl?!
-
I saw some of this on the Sci-Fi channel last night and it's worse than I imagined- really tacky production- with cheap CGI effects and bad make up. Antonio Sabato Jr was ok as Carter well at least he has the body to play an ERB hero.
-
This is the David Lynch cut- not the extended tv version.
-
Wow- this film really looks stunning in Blu-ray. The detail of the set is awesome. This was obviously a very well crafted production. David Lynch made some bizarre directorial touches but it is a unique looking movie experience with some truly head scratching moments. The Sci-fi channel adaptation makes more sense but it lacks the big screen all-star cast and visual grandeur.

This new adaptation of "Mildred Pierce" might be worth a look- first Kate Winslet is a very good actress ( and I'm sure it will be a bit different from Crawford's classic performance) writer- director Todd Haynes knows how to make films in the classic tradition just take a look at his magnificent Oscar nominated " Far From Heaven". I have not read the novel but I'm sure there are some aspects of the story which the censors had changed.

A superior sequel ( and the first one was very good) this time they have a better villain, a truly spectacular climax and Scarlett Johansen .
-
Some bad novel has made great movie- just look at "Jaws"- the best play adaptation would have to go to "A Streetcar Named Desire".
-
Huston last great film.

The studios and the theater are getting way to greedy for their own good.
-
I doubt that the studios will for this- they still make a lot of money from blu-ray and dvd sales. I still go the movies but now the prices have becoming outrageous- $20.00 dollars is nuts!

Even people who are not classic movie fans have seen MM image on posters, books and magazines. She is a true pop culture princess.
-
MM remains one of the defining icons of the 20th century. There will always be people interested in telling her tragic story- I do with someone would adapt Capote's " A Beautiful Child"
-
I always imagine the Krell as this very sophisticated elegant humanoid race - not some frog like creature.
-
These days movies are too long- ideally I think most stories can be told between 90 miniutes to 2 hours- unless it's an epic.
-
There is a strong homoerotic subtext in " The Ghost Ship".
-
Why do the women look like drag queens in this poster?!
-
Perkins would have been a more convincing science professor than Newman. But if Hitchcock had cast Perkins than audiences would have expected another "Psycho".
-
The first "Pirates of the Caribbean " movie was very good. I still think that giving any actor that much money is a mistake.

I loved the new version of "The Wolfman". Did anybody else?

The director is more an action director than a horror film director which might explain why the film is never as terrifying as it might have been-and yes I do agree that the opening scene from "Frankenstein meets the Wolfman" is a classic example of horror film making at its best.
