  1. "Signs" and "Unbreakable" have some effective moments. "The Village" is good until the preposterous twist ending. " The Happening" is just a silly premise that goes no where. "Lady in the Water" is a truly unwatchable disaster not actually its one of those cinematic disaster that you can't believe someone actually made.

  2. Is the name of a very funny book by Edward Marguiles and Stephen Rebello which collects their Movieline magazine guide to great trash cinema- and we are not talking Ed Wood here but cinematic disasters from major TCM favorites.

  3. "Six Days Seven Nights" bombed because Ford and Heche had zero romantic chemistry likewise the Madonna - Everett team failed at the box office but " The Object of My Affection" which has a similar straight woman - gay man pseudo romance was more successful but in that film the gay character was played by straight Paul Rudd.

  4. The public still will not accept an out gay actor in romantic leading role. They will seem him in character role like Sir Ian or a comic side kick like Ruper Everet ( who was bitching about his career as a leading man was ruined because he came out too soon)

  5. I did not mean to be anti-Christian. But just responding to how some otherwise intelligent people miss the point of this thread...one can be religious and tolerant or religious and a bigot- it bothers me when people use the I'm- only- following- my- religion-excuse to spout their own prejudice. But back to the actual subject- audiences might be more sophisticated now but they are still buying a fantasy when it comes to their movie stars.
