These stars are getting older and they probably want the safety of a long running tv series.
-
Harryhausen's best creations lived- the current CGI effects are technically impressive but they are just effect with out soul.
-
"Jaws- 3-D" was horrendous they barely used the 3-D effects - it might as well have been shown flat.
I did get a chance to see boht Jack Arnold's "Creature of the Black Lagoon" and " It Came From Outer Space" in a 3-D festival. The underwater scenes are really eerie in 3-D.

I saw the trailer for Ridley Scott " Robin Hood" and it does look spectacular.

People like Sandra Bullock since "Speed" ( she even survived that movies horrible sequel)

I agree with your list of what defines a great film.

Wow! I'm surprised they are still around- and yes I was a faithful reader and still have some old issues.
-
I think you are a bit rough on Miss Keeler- but I understand your point there are performers who connect with an audience at a particular time- they are like one hit wonders we might look at them now and wonder what made them appealing in the first place.

Was it a Japanese movie?

The Keanu remake was a disaster.
-
Paltrow as Dietrich (?!) I can see Uma Thurman in the role.

I really have no problem with colorizing some movies as long as the original B&W is preserved.
Ray Harryhausen has done this to some of his movies with mixed results. The colorization process is better than it used to be- but in most cases I prefer the B&W edition.

Yeah re-releasing "Titanic" in 3-D seems more like an act commercial desperation specially since Cameron has criticized other films that were converted to but not shot in 3 - D like Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland".
-
Why are they even bothering to remake this?! The "Lars" movie was one of those indie bombs.
-
I might still catch it on the theater or will have to see it on DVD.
-
Movies are an art, a business and a science- not necessarily in that order- new technology has always driven the industry- from silent to talkies- from B&W to color- from flat screens to wide screens- to 3-d to even wider screens.

Ti West wrote and directed this atmospheric indie tribute to 80's horror with Dee Wallace, Mary Woronov and Tom Noonan ( all that is missing is a cameo from Karen Black).

Miss Domerge was one very sexy scientist. I love the scene in which she interviews the reluctant fisherman witness.

Truffauts " Day for Night" is one the best movies made about making movies.
-
"Games" directed by Curtis Harrington- I wish this terrific Diabolique type thriller was out on DVD

Cinema Pride Collection DVD set is "coming out" in June
