She was rather a morbid child in Meet Me in St. Louis. I didn't see all of the dance movie last night.

When I first started to get AMC, they would show movies in the afternoon, evening and over night hours and infomercials during the morning and early afternoon. Finally it became a 24 hr. network. I remember I used to joke that I never knew there were so many classics I'd never heard of. But I enjoyed the channel with Bob Dorian's commentary (then the others) and when they used to host some movies from theaters that had been restored. I miss this. Last year I upgraded to digital cable and since I got that I hardly ever tune into AMC anymore. I watch a lot of TCM. AMC seems to show more and more commercials all the time.

Too bad Rumble on the Docks wasn't one of them. I've never seen it but would like to.

This should read I've been once. I misspelled it.

I've been one. I watched the pilot for Here Comes the Brides. I'd like to go back some day.

TCM on this year's "31 Days Of Oscar"
maryjmartin replied to hlywdkjk's topic in General Discussions
I know it's more of a fun film than a great one but the Lively Set was nominated for an oscar for best sound effects. Also Guns of Navarone should have been included. -
I believe Phil Karlson also directed Gunman's Walk which was done in color. I found a VHS copy on Amazon.com. It's not a bad western. I hope I get a chance to find out about Brothers Rico for myself. I've seen it listed at a few Film Noir festivals and have been hoping this will lead to a DVD release (I'm not holding my breath) and I don't think they'll have a film noir festival in my home town (I'm from Bangor, Maine). They probably won't in Portland either. I could make Boston and possible NYC if they have one there some day although NYC's an expensive trip to make to see a movie.

I saw that last summer when TCM ran it. Wish they'd run The Lively Set and For Those Who Think Young (which can't be any worse than the Frankie and Annette films they did show even if it's not as well known.).
-
The trailer for it looks good I've seen it on YouTube or something like that and of course I'll watch anything James Darren had a part in.

I have both of the CDs your talking about and one (at least of his older ones). The two of the standards came about as a result of his being cast as a holographic lounge singer (ala Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin) from the 60s on Star Trek, Deep Space 9 and does make me wish they would do Star Trek Deep Space 9 movies.

The title of the forum said Your Favorites and he's one of my favorite actors. My personal favorite role for him would be as Tony Newman in Time Tunnel which is a TV role but my second favorite is as Nick Romano in Let No Man Write My Epitaph. I'd also love to see Lively Set again.

AMC is showing Guns of Navarone this month. That's worth watching.
-
I definitely agree with waiting at least six months for a rebroadcast.
-
Whit Bissell is a favorite of mine by nature of his appearance as a regular on the series Time Tunnel. Too bad it didn't last.

I think they could probably license it if it isn't. TBS has shown it in the past when they were showing good programs and not 90s and newer sitcoms. It may have been on TNT in the past two. I like both James Darren and Doug McClure, too bad Doug died prematurely.

Why is TCM Showing Modern Movies???
maryjmartin replied to Metropolisforever's topic in General Discussions
While I agree that Men in Black is not a Classic, Titanic probably is even though it's only about 9 or 10 years old. Having said that, I don't particularly care to see it on TCM (I have the VHS and haven't watched it that often). I'd rather see older films that aren't necessarily classic but fun like The Lively Set, For Those Who Think Young, Dramas like Let No Man Write My Epitaph and All the Young Men and Film Noir (The Brothers Rico) some of these I haven't seen at all or only once and one or two I have but would like more background on. Another choice Gunman's Walk which I would like to see in Cinemascope. -
I don't really think this is a classic. Anyone agree/disagree. It should be left to TNT or TBS or maybe AMC.

Could this movie be scheduled please? It's a fun movie.
