  9. I agree W./ILoveRayMilland on the "Orginial". I grew up watching the orginial _Gaslight_ (1944) W./Charles Boyer & Ingrid Bergman. I always found Charles Boyer creepy. He just makes my skin crawl, but the real treat for me is Angela Lansbury as Nancy Oliver, if I remember correctly Angela Lansbury was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The 1944 version is better by all accounts. I tried to watch _Gaslight_ (1940) W./Anton Walbrook, & I just can't get into it. It seemed to stuffy. What was funny I caught _Gaslight_ (1940) W./Anton Walbrook on PBS late one night under the title _Angel Street_ ! So, I started digging around, & from what I have read, _Gaslight_ (1940) was released in the United States under the title _Angel Street_ so that audiences would not confuse it with MGM's 1944 version. I also read over the years that MGM reportedly tried to suppress release of the 1940 film in the United States, even to the point of trying to destroy the negative, so that it would not compete with their more publicized 1944 remake. (Wikipedia even gives this info!). What a strange idea if you ask me.
