I met the The Coen brothers 2 times. Both at the Denver Film Festival. Once was for "_The Man Who Wasn't There_". I really didn't care for this film. I will have to go back and look at it. & the 2nd time was when they brought the Director's Cut of _Blood Simple_ back onto the big screen. Both times they did a Q&A W./athe audience. Very nice guys. Very open and friendly. It's so funny, but both brothers finish eath others sentences.

I loved the Kay Francis film "_Play Girl_" (1941)!! What an interesting film. I loved the fact that Margaret Hamilton played Kay Francis maid. 2 Best Scenes: Thomas Elwood Dice (James Ellison) spitting spit balls trying to get the attention of Ellen Daley (Mildred Coles) during the concert. I laughed so hard. How Grace Herbert (Kay Francis) got both her rent paid & her dresses taken care of! LOL!

A Fan Tribute to William Castle .............!!
CelluloidKid replied to CelluloidKid's topic in Films and Filmmakers
I believe that William Castle was a master! After so many years we are all still talking about his films and his gimmicks! *I Can't wait for this come to a theater or onto DVD!* *SPINE TINGLER! THE WILLIAM CASTLE STORY* is a documentary about B Horror film director William Castle, who brought hordes of viewers to his films in the late 1950's and early 1960's. But audiences didn't always show up just for the movies, they showed to see what gimmick would be delivered in the next William Castle film. Whether it was a flying skeleton above the crowd, buzzers in the seats, or an insurance policy against death by fright, Castle knew how to bring in crowds, and his legacy has forever been etched into Hollywood. -

THe 1 Deanna Durbin film I have always wanted to see which is not avavilable on VHS & there are no DVD plans as far **** I can tell is: _Christmas Holiday_ from 1944! I love film noir, & & being a Gene Kelly fan, I would love to see him go baaaaad for once. I have seen bits and pieces of the film (You Tube, bootlegs) and Deanna holds her own! _*Per Wikipedia:*_ Gene Kelly and Deanna Durbin are cast against type in this sordid and dark film. Kelly, soon to become one of MGM's leading musical stars, plays a charming yet murderous cad, while Durbin, usually the girl next door in Universal musicals, plays a naif who falls for him and sticks with him even knowing he's a killer. Gale Sondergaard is wonderfully cast as Kelly's tyrannical mother. Music director Hans Salter earned an Academy Award nomination. Although the film was a box office success for Durbin, she was criticised for having tarnished her trademark persona playing a dance-hall "hostess" (aka a prostitute). "_Christmas Holiday_" is considered one of the bleakest noirs of the -

Out of all of Kay's film playing today (09/18/08) ...I can't wait to see _King Of The Underworld_ (1939) which comes on @ 8:45pm (PT) Arizona Time!! The strangest title/plot is: _Women In The Wind_ (1939) @ 7:30pm (PT) Arizona Time!! _Women In The Wind_ (1939) Personal conflicts flare between competitors in a women's air race. - LOL! Sounds strange! _*Per Movie Database Trivia:*_ *The use of several uncredited, but recognizable players in dual roles results in some odd situations: Sidney Bracey is first seen at the Burbank Airport starting point, then later he's in the crowd at Cleveland at the finish line.*

I can't wait to watch: _King of the Underworld_ (1939), the only thing is it sounds like the plot of the Joan Crawford film: _This Woman is Dangerous_ (1952). I'm simply falling for Kay. She is 100% a pure blast!
