  1. Thelma Todd starred with Gary Cooper and William Powell in the western _Nevada_ (1927). *William Powell!*
  2. I think what would make an interesting "Private Screenings" would be to find alot of the extras that worked on films for MGM and 20th Century Fox and other studios! When I ever watch a film I always think about the extras in the background that never got a credit, but somehow were in several films. Imagine all those stories they could tell!
  3. Abel Salazar was in the film _Paula_ (1969) *NEW STAR: Trish Van Devere !*
  4. Metatarsal .... _My Left Foot_: The Story of Christy Brown *NEW WORD: Ephebiphobia!*
  5. Oh Lord honey the yellow pants are a fashion faux pas .....No wonder everyone Humprey Bogart as the gun ...he is trying to put the pants out of their misery !!
  6. _Blood Simple_ (1985) "The Director's Cut" is a very good copy...not scratches or pops! Only problem, no extras!!! Unusually for such an exercise it is some three minutes shorter than the original theatrical release. The Coens shortened the film by tightening the editing, shortening some shots and removing others altogether. In addition, they resolved longstanding rights issues with the music: the original theatrical version of the film made prominent use of The Four Tops' "_It's the Same Old Song_", but this had to be replaced with Neil Diamond's "I'm a Believer" (made famous by The Monkees' cover) for the US home video edition (though not for international video versions). The "directors' cut" reinstated the Four Tops track, as the Coens had always intended.
  7. Thanks!! My partner and I now clear our Thursday Nights and have Kay Francis parties. Friends pop in and out bring food and watch Kay Francis films. My Step-Dad is in his 60's and never has heard of Kay so it's been really cool to introduce him to the "Wavising Kay Fwancis!!"! :L)
  8. *I wish TCM would have mabey gotten a loan from Twentieth Century Fox & shown the film:* *_Wilson_ from 1944!* *_Per Wikipedia_:* *Though a critically acclaimed, Oscar-winning film, Wilson is remembered for being a huge flop at the box office. It was a pet project of Darryl F. Zanuck's, who greatly admired Woodrow Wilson, and its failure upset him to the point that he forbade any of his employees to ever mention the film in his presence again. It is one of the very few financial flops to have won as many Oscars as it did.* I have been trying to find a used copy of this for years and still no luck! *It won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction-Interior Decoration, Color, Best Cinematography, Color, Best Film Editing, Best Sound, Recording and Best Writing, Original Screenplay. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Alexander Knox), Best Director, Best Effects, Special Effects, Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture and Best Picture.*
  9. Some directors that would be interesting to see would be: Nick Cassavetes Coen Brothers (Saw them 2xs at the Denver Film Fest! Interesting People!) Alfonso Cuar?n Dennis Hopper ( actor and film-maker ) Mike Leigh Garry Marshall Sam Mendes Ken Russell Gus Van Sant Wim Wenders
  10. _King Of The Underworld_ (1939) W./Kay sounds like it was later turned into the Joan Crawford film _This Woman is Dangerous_ (1952)...but mabey I'm wrong. Can't wait to see _King Of The Underworld_ (1939).
  11. I really wish TCM had put together a documentry on Key Francis. The more I read about her the more fascinating she becomes. This Thursday (09/18/2008!) I can't wait to see: _Transgression_ (1931) - When her lover is killed, a straying wife tries to intercept the confession she mailed her husband. & _King Of The Underworld_ (1939) - A lady doctor gets mixed up with a criminal gang. These both sound interesting! But of course when Kay comes at 05:00pm start time in Arizona, I live TCM on all night till I fall asleep!
  12. Film_Fatale Virgin Megastore is great for bargins...they have alot of films always on sale for $10.00, alot of times you have to do some bargin shopping on box sets etc. Another good store is Fry's Electronics. They have a really good selection of older films. They also have alot of sales and bragin deals! We have a great store in Phoenix called Zia Records. They carry both new and used DVD's and CD's etc., so 9X10 any classic film you want they can either have it in stock or another store location has it and they can get it for you. They are so far the only store in Phoenix which carries films put out on under the Legend Films banner. Even Best Biy didn't carry the Legend films.
