*_The Good:_* 1) Great Sets. I just loved Gene Tierney's bedroom at Dragonwyck. I liked how all the doors looked like giant eyes. 2) Love the name Dragonwyck. When I get a home I will name it: Dragonwyck! 3) Vincent Price was so creepy & cold. The way the light captured him in some shots he looked like a giant rat (Reminded me of his likeness for "_The Great Mouse Detective_" (1986) where he voiced Professor Ratigan!) & in other shots he looked like the devil. 4) Nice ominous mansion. 5) The costumes. (All by Ren? Hubert!) 6) Great cinamtography. Love the lights and shadows through the windows, & during the thunderstorm. Spooky! *_My Favorite Line (S):_* Johanna Van Ryn: What can you possibly do up there? Nicholas Van Ryn: Possibly? Anything from pinning butterflies to hiding an insane twin brother. Actually, I read. I hope that my explanation satisfies you? Made me laugh! It was so Vincent Price. *_The Bad:_* 1) How come Jessica Tandy as Peggy O'Malley, didn't receive an Oscar Nod for Best Supporting Actress.!? Her performance was riveting. Loved the accent. 2) At points to sloooow. 3) I wouldn't call _Dragonwyck_ (1946) a "Horror" film! More like a victorian gothic thriller? A look at long vanished class system. (The bourgeoisie as opposed to aristocratic origin?!) Mabey even a psychological thriller!? Strange film. Very haunting! 4) I'm sorry but I snickered when Vincent Price stated he was a drug addict. It put a strange twist on the story. I kept trying to place how shocking it would be in 1844 to be known, or even labeled a drug addict?!. Final Rating: B+ -

*_Boomerang!_ (1947) is available for rental from Netflix! However, there is a loooooong wait!* *Boomerang!* *(1947) UR* *Elia Kazan's Oscar-nominated crime drama is based on a true murder case in which an upright prosecutor fights to bring justice despite the faulty legal system at the time. A pastor has been murdered in a small town and a likely suspect has been indicted. But contradicting evidence causes District Attorney Harvey (Dana Andrews) to prove the man's innocence amid political pressure. Jane Wyatt and Lee J. Cobb co-star in this documentary-style film. This semidocumentary also contains voice-overs by Reed Hadley.* *_Per Wikipedia:_* *_DVD release_* *This film was scheduled for release on DVD in June 2006 as part of the Fox Film Noir series. Just prior to release, the DVD was recalled without explanation, though some copies did trickle out on the market. A release date of September 2nd 2008 has now been announced for this Film on DVD. I believe the opening title shows exclamation marks when the film starts...but as of yet I'm still getting through my Netflix films... Movie Database and Wikipedia show the film with the exclamation marks...but my box doesn't have it ...just like in the pic! Even the original VHS Box (Shown Below!) for the tape doesn't show any exclamation marks in the film title!! -

James Cagney was in _Man of a Thousand Faces_ W./Dorothy Malone! *NEW STAR: Dorothy Malone!* *_Doing my part fot the TCM Bios:_* *Dorothy Malone (born January 30, 1925) is an Academy Award-winning American actress.* *Malone was born Dorothy Eloise Maloney in Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to Dallas, Texas, where she worked as a child model and began acting in school plays at Ursuline Convent and Highland Park High School. While performing at Southern Methodist University, she was spotted by a talent agent for RKO and was signed to a studio contract, making her film debut in 1943 in _The Falcon and the Co-Eds_.* *In 1956, Malone transformed herself into a platinum blonde and shed her good girl-image to co-star with Rock Hudson, Lauren Bacall, and Robert Stack in director Douglas Sirk's melodrama _Written on the Wind_. Her portrayal of the dipso-nymphomaniac daughter of a Texas oil baron won her the _Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress_.* Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I love the lines at the end of _Fargo_ (1996): Marge Gunderson: So that was Mrs. Lundegaard on the floor in there. And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper. And those three people in Brainerd. And for what? For a little bit of money. There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day. Well. I just don't understand it. Every time I here these lines they send a shiver up my spine. They say so much in so little time!

*I found a website which lists a ton of films that were flops....I.E.* *Greatest Box-Office* *Bombs, Disasters and Flops* *_A Damsel in Distress_ (1937)* This musical comedy (with music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and based on a P.G. Wodehouse story) was best known as the first Fred Astaire/RKO film to not feature Ginger Rogers, after they famously teamed up together in _Flying Down to Rio_ (1933) through their previous last joint appearance in _Shall We Dance_ (1937). *It was also the first Astaire film to be a box-office flop.* To make up for their miscalculation, RKO quickly recast the celebrated dance team of Astaire and Rogers in the next year's Carefree (1938). In Ginger's place was an inept dancer/singer -- 19 year-old starlet Joan Fontaine (as Astaire's love interest Lady Alyce Marshmorton, the daughter of an English Earl), along with radio stars George Burns and Gracie Allen as themselves. Fontaine appeared in one song/walk routine with Astaire, called "_Things Are Looking Up_". The film received two Oscar nominations (including Best Art Direction) and won choreographer Hermes Pan an Academy Award Oscar for Best Dance Direction for the "Fun House" dance sequence titled "Stiff Upper Lip". *For Other Films:* *Greatest Box-Office* *Bombs, Disasters and Flops:* *The Most Notable Examples* http://www.filmsite.org/greatestflops.html
