A Fan Tribute to William Castle .............!!
CelluloidKid replied to CelluloidKid's topic in Films and Filmmakers
_The Busy Body_ is a 100% departure from the usual William Castle films. I bought it sight unseen since it finally came to DVD Via Legend Films in July 2008. It took at least 2 viewings to get through it. It's slow moving, & well a little convoluted. The basic plot is: Sid Caesar stars as the bumbling right hand man of mob boss Robert Ryan who is sent to find a corpse buried in a suit lined with stolen mob money. But then there is a 2nd plot line which leaves you gong "WHAT!?!". LOL! _The William Castle Films I Own are:_ The Busy Body Strait-Jacket - Joan Crawford 13 Ghosts (1960) The Tingler (1959) Mr. Sardonicus (1961) Homicidal (1961) House on Haunted Hill (1959) Rosemary's Baby (1968) (producer) - (I also own it for the fact that Roman directed it!) I want to see: _I Saw What You Did_ W./Miss. Crawford, but alas it is out of print! I loved the _The Night Walker_ (1964) W./Barbara Stanwyck & her ex-husband Robert Taylor! Very interesting film. It's funny how people forget that Miss. Stanwyck made a "horror" type picture too! Sad that it is only available on VHS & not DVD! My favorite part of _13 Ghosts_ (1960)I love the ending where Margaret Hamilton as the maid picks up here broom smiles at the camera and goes on sweeping the floor....LOL!! The Best Lines from _House on Haunted Hill_ (1959): Frederick Loren: Don't let the ghosts and the ghouls disturb you, love. Annabelle Loren: Darling, the only ghoul in the house is you! The line that always makes me laugh from _House on Haunted Hill_ is: Annabelle Loren: Oh, I'm sure we're not going to go running around the house shooting each other, aren't you? .... LOL! William Castle directed Joan Crawford in '64's _Strait-Jacket_ and '65's _I Saw What You Did_. It would have been interesting to be on the set that day! *William Castle with Joan Crawford!* -
A fan tribute to....... Gene Kelly
CelluloidKid replied to CelluloidKid's topic in General Discussions
*Don't forget _Brigadoon_ (1954) W./Gene is on Tue. Sept. 9, 2008 @ 1:15 pm (PT) Arizona Time!* *(Gene also does the choreography!)* *Trivia for _Brigadoon_ (1954)* The Breen office wouldn't allow the use of the two songs the Meg Brockie character sang in the stage version, "The Love of My Life" and "My Mother's Wedding Day" as the lyrics were too risqu?. Average Shot Length (ASL) = 32 seconds - about three times as long as most films made during the Classical Hollywood era. Cyd Charisse said that, of the several films she made with Gene Kelly, this was her favorite. -

I saw _Disturbia_ (2007) at an advance screening, & thank God I didn't pay to see it. So anyways, my partner and I went, & we just laughed through most of the film, & at other moments, I was like look wasn't that part in "Rear Window" etc.! I thought _Disturbia_ (2007) was 1 of the worst and most Over-Rated films of 2007. I also really don't think Shia LaBeouf is much of an actor. But today's generation are like things are cardboard! I think that is why I was so grateful for my mother; because as far back as I can remember I was always watching films with her. I think the 1st time I watched "The Birds" I was 6 or 7, & it scared the crap out of me. LOL!. My mother loved Alfred Hitchcock. I remember spending an entire week watching nothing about Alfred Hitchcock films with her. Her fav was either "_Rear Window_" Or "_The Man Who Knew Too Much_" W./Doris Day!

*What is funny about things like "Razzie" awards...* *United States president George W. Bush, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condolezza Rice are the only non-actors to have won Razzies for their appearances in the 2004 Michael Moore documentary _Fahrenheit 9/11_. Bush won Worst Actor and shared the Worst Screen Couple Award with Rice and "his pet goat," while Rumsfeld won Worst Supporting Actor. Rice lost to Britney Spears for Worst Supporting Actress.*
