  1. Try hitting thrift stores to. Sometimes U can find some rare VHS & out-of-print DVD's. I found _On Borrowed Time_ (1939) for $1.00 (Used copies on Amazon start off at $29.00) & also found the Joan Crawford films _Autumn Leaves_ (1956) & _Johnny Guitar_ (1954). All 3 of these have yet to be released on DVD, I'm still lQQkin for other Joan Crawford films on VHS. I have a list of what films of Joan were released on VHS, but still haven't come to DVD. I did find the dvd _A Letter to Three Wives_ (1949) for a $1.00 to. Strange what you will find if you hunt.
  2. I will just restate what I said in "Hot Topics"! I loved when the robber (William Powell) gave the guy the "Marijuana"cigarette and stated something to the effect that in the morning when he would wake up, he would feel refreshed & care free & yes he would also be hungry! LOL! I also the love scene where Kay Francis and William Powell are in her bedroom & the maid knocks on the door and tells Baroness Teri von Horhenfels (Kay Francis) that there is a detective who wants to speak with her, & she calls out "Were Not decent", then she stammers & says "I mean I"m not decent"!...LOL... Kudds to the ending as the camera fades, & Baroness Teri von Horhenfels (Kay Francis) heads out she states "I'm going to Nice", I just loved her wink into the camera! I laughed through out! This is 1 film if on DVD I would had it to my film collection in a heartbeat. I loved it! Kay Francis what a woman! Thanks TCM for introducing me to a new actress! Armed robbery, drug use, and adultery -- completely sanctioned and unpunished, and even made playful and glamorous! Gotta love the pre-codes!
  3. _One Way Passage_ (1932) looks good. It's 1 of many Kay films I'm looking forward to watching! Interesting side note: _One Way Passage_ (1932) was remade in 1940 as _'Til We Meet Again_, featuring Merle Oberon and George Brent.

Certainly people could sing better than I could - that could be something that could change.* *"But part of the charm of it, I thought, was that it was done sort of low-budget. 16. I was sitting around with some friends talking about the life & career of Alfred Hitchcock. All of sudden the conversation turned to his films that we thought were not that great. The films that showed either a lack fo effort or thought into the story or characters or even the plot. So what do you think were some of the "Worst"Alfred Hitchcock films? *_Here is my list:_* _Rebecca_ - I don't care if this won Best Picture! It dosen't make a good film. No matter how many times I tried to watch this film, I end up falling asleep. To dull & very sloooow moving! _Mr. & Mrs. Smith_ - I love Carole Lombard, but not this picture! Alfred Hitchcock should have stayed away from comedy. _The Wrong Man_ - Henry Fonda ws miscast. _Marnie_ - I just find this film so bizarre! Tippi Hedren & Sean Connery have no chemistry. _Torn Curtain_ - Paul Newman & Julie Andrews as a couple, again wrong casting! Another film I just don't like. I have tried to watch this film several times, but somehow I just give up. The film just doesn't work on so many levels. Parts of it come across a comedy, other parts a spy thriller! _Topaz_ - Another film that just doesn't work. I love films set in the Cold War era, but this just comes arcoss as boring & to many characters. 1 word: convoluted! _Under Capricorn_ - I have heard the Good, the Bad and the Ugly about this film. This is the 1 film of Hitchcock's I have always wanted to see but I haven't yet. Thank God for Netflix, it's on it's way! I'm keeping an open-mind!
  17. 3:10 to Yuma the 1957 version never worked for me. To Sedate. Not enough energy or chemistry between Glenn Ford & Van Heflin. For once, the Re-Make 3:10 to Yuma from 2007 was a really good western. To me a very under-rated film. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale really worked the material and brought it to new heights. Unlike the orginial, the remake kept me at the edge of my seat, & the ending was really emotional.
  18. I agree W./MissGoddess ....I love "Gilda" (Own it too!) ...but I think the backstory between the characters Gilda & Johnny is left up to the viewers imagination. You know the characters Gilda & Johnny have a backstory, & I like the idea the director & the story writers never fleshed it out, but left it up to the audience to put there own spin on it. I always believed that Gilda & Johnny met in New York, & somehow that ended up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Gilda dumped him. & then when the film opens Ballin Mundson basically saves Johnny, befriends him and puts to work at his casino. & well, we all the know the rest of the story.
  19. Supersonic ......._Latitude Zero_ (1969) *NEW WORD: Cataclysm!*
