  7. *Joan Crawford: _Hollywood Review of 1929_ (1929)* *In an attempt to show off their stabe of stars, MGM gave us "_Hollywood Revue of 1929_" - With the breakaway from silents to talkies, this was the perfect opportunity to showcase their stars. In a singing, dancing and acting extravaganza the monotony of the format gets a little tiresome but it's fun to spot the famous faces. Joan Crawford sings: "Gotta Feelin' for You," amidst a dance specialty, finishing with the Biltmore Quartet.*

  10. I have a place in my heart for "Xanadu". It's not "THAT"bad. Some lay cliam that it is an unofficial remake of the 1947 film _Down to Earth_ starring Rita Hayworth. I like this movie. I really really do. It's so weird. To this day I remember this movie as fun. The music, the fantasy, and the dancing sent my young imagination into overdrive. Sure, it's corny and goofy, but that's the point. & Gene Kelly & Olivia Newton-John...MAGIC! _Kira:_ A place where nobody dared to go / the love that we came to know / They call it Xanadu / And now, open your eyes and see / what we have made is real / We are in Xanadu / A million lights are dancing and there you are, a shooting star / An everlasting world and you're here with me, eternally / Xanadu / Xanadu / now we are here in Xanadu / Xanadu / Xanadu / now we are here in Xanadu / Xanadu, your neon lights will shine for you, Xanadu / The love, the echoes of long ago / you needed the world to know / They are in Xanadu / The dream that came through a million years / That lived on through all the tears, it came to Xanadu / A million lights are dancing and there you are, a shooting star / An everlasting world and you're here with me, eternally / Now that I'm here, now that you're near in Xanadu / Now that I'm here, now that you're near in Xanadu, Xanadu. Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck AND GENE KELLY
  11. My all-time fac musical is: _The Umbrellas of Cherbourg_ (French: _Les Parapluies de Cherbourg_) . What is so neat is that the film dialogue is all sung as recitative, even the most casual conversation. I just love Catherine Deneuve in this film.
  12. My mother always liked "_Blue Hawaii_". When my mother passed away, we played the soundtrack at her wake. My mother always told the story my 1st word as a baby was "Elvis". My mom was such a huge Elvis fan. My fav Elvis film was: "_Roustabout_" W./Elvis Presley & Barbara Stanwyck!

In _Casablanca_, the piano was empty and the music came from a pianist located behind the camera.* *Dooley Wilson was borrowed from Paramount at $500 a week.* *Ingrid Bergman's Salary:* *Casablanca (1942) $25,000* *Also...* *Dooley Wilson was, in fact, the only member of the cast to have ever actually visited the city of Casablanca.* *The Paris train station set was recycled from _Now, Voyager_ (1942).*

  22. *I love Elsa, the very under-rated character actress of Hollywood!* Elsa Lanchester (born October 28, 1902 in Lewisham, London; died December 26, 1986 in Woodland Hills, California) was an Oscar-nominated English character actress who became a naturalized American citizen in 1950 along with her husband, actor Charles Laughton. She is best remembered for her role as the title character in _Bride of Frankenstein_ (1935). On screen, she had a substantial part when she appeared again with her husband in the screen version of Agatha Christie's play _Witness for the Prosecution_ (1957), for which both received Academy Award nominations - she for Best Supporting Actress, and Laughton for Best Actor. Neither won. However, Lanchester did win the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for the film. Lanchester was previously nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, for _Come to the Stable_, in 1950. *Best Elsa Lanchester Films:* Bride of Frankenstein Rembrandt Les Mis?rables Dreamboat The Bishop's Wife The Secret Garden Come to the Stable That Darn Cat! 23. I justed rented the strangest Yul Brynner film called: "_Fuzz_" which stared not "_ONLY_" Yul Brynner (He was called: The Deaf Man! in the film) but Burt Reynolds, Raquel Welch & Tom Skerritt too! _Fuzz:_ Detectives Steve Carella, Meyer Meyer, and Bert Kling are part of the 87th Precinct's team investigating a murder-extortion racket run by a mysterious deaf man (Yul Brynner). While attempting to investigate and prevent the murders of several high-ranking city officials, they also must keep track of the perpetrators of a string of robberies. Further complicating matters is a rash of arson attacks on homeless men. Very intersting film. Very dated, but still fun to watch.
