I'm a huge fan of Miss. Monroe. What started my "obsession", was when I was a 11 and for Christmas my mom got me the book "_The Unabridged Marilyn: Her Life from A to Z_"! From that point I was hooked. First, last and always, Marilyn was uniquely beautiful, and tragically vulnerable. Her Best Films: The Asphalt Jungle Gentlemen Prefer Blondes How to Marry a Millionaire Niagara Monkey Business Clash by Night All About Eve The Seven Year Itch Bus Stop The Misfits Some Like It Hot My 2 All Time Fav MM films are: "The Misfits" & "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"

*Top five scariest movies* *The five scariest films of all time, according to a 2007 HMV poll.* *1. The Exorcist (1973)* William Friedkin's tale of a possessed girl broke barriers with gruesome new special effects in scene after terrifying scene. Bloodier films have since been made, but thanks to its strong storyline, The Exorcist has lost none of its power. *2. The Shining (1980)* "Heeeeeere's Johhny!" shouts Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance, a writer who slowly goes mad during a winter as a temporary caretaker at a remote hotel. While not a blood-and-guts horror film, the tension the director Stanley Kubrick was able to inject into The Shining - derived from whether or not Torrance will kill his family - means it has consistently been voted one of the scariest movies of all time. *3. Halloween (1978)* A classic 'slasher' movie with a straightforward plot: a doctor attempts to catch a psychotic murderer, institutionalised since childhood, who has escaped on Halloween intent on killing his sister, played by Jamie Lee Curtis. Director John Carpenter kept the pace of the film slow to build the audience's affinity with the characters, so making the scenes of violence all the more disturbing. *4. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)* For many, Freddy Krueger's hideous melted face and razor-blade fingers personified the 'video nasty' phenomenon of the 1980s. In Wes Craven's film Freddy is literally the stuff of nightmares, the ghost of a murderer who returns from the dead to pick off the children of adults who killed him in a vigilante burning. *5. Ringu (1998)* A Japanese horror film about a young journalist's mission to investigate a mysterious video tape which appears to result in the death of anyone who watches it within a week. Gore Verbinski made an American version starring Naomi Watts in 2002. Thanks, Telegraph.co.uk, United Kingdom 10 Aug 2008 *LOL!! I would like to know who voted for this!?? I agree W./4 out of 5 of the films! "_Ringu_" was just plain bad! I have seen both versions, & well frankly I found both very laughable,* *"_The Shining"_ was a horror film on the gran scale, for the 1980's art house crowd. What I found most scary about the "_The Shining_" was the fact it dealt W./the human mind. Scary when your an ex drunk, locked up in the mountians W./your faimly & your mind starts to snap as you let the ghosts of the past eat at your soul.*

"The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" was a real piece of crap! I put this on my "Worst Films of 2008" list right next to "Funny Games" & "The Happening"! The actor who comes off best in "_The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor_" is the one who opted out: Rachel Weisz!! It's like Cohen and Co. once heard someone describe an Indiana Jones rip-off and they just copied down whatever they could remember, and then added some yeti!

Joan Crawford and Fred MacMurray - _Above Suspicion_ _Above Suspicion_. MGM, 1943. Directed by Richard Thorpe, 91 minutes. Joan stars with Fred MacMurray as newlywed "Frances Myles," drafted by the British Secret Service to spy on the Nazis. This was Joan's _last_ MGM contract picture. The Hays Office found a few things in the picture objectionable: the killing of a Nazi that goes unpunished; as well as the lines "What are you doing tonight?" (deemed to suggest "sexual frustration on the part of Miss Crawford") and "Think of what we're going to do"..."I am." (US) Thanks, Best of Everything JC! Silly fun movie! Joan and Fred did have chemistry,

A fan tribute to....... Gene Kelly
CelluloidKid replied to CelluloidKid's topic in General Discussions
*Fred Astaire vs. Gene Kelly* Astaire and Kelly were the top musical male dancers from the 1930s through the '50s in Hollywood. Many of their roles overlapped -- Astaire replaced an injured Gene Kelly in one of his films, plus they starred in a film together, _Ziegfield Follies_. *How to identify Gene Kelly:* Gene Kelly was muscular and known for an athletic dancing style in which he preferred wearing casual clothes. Some of Kelly?s early successes include a dancing number in _Cover Girl_ where he mimicked his mirrored reflection, plus a dance routine with animated mouse Tom from Tom and Jerry. He continued to star in musicals until one of his biggest roles, _An American in Paris_ in 1951, which he followed up a year later with the biggest role, _Singin? in the Rain_. Kelly crowned this performance with his now-famous sequence of hanging off light posts with an umbrella. In the '60s and '70s Kelly directed films and for television, and later he popped up in the cult classic _Xanadu_ with Olivia Newton-John. Kelly received an honorary Oscar in 1952 and countless other awards. He died in 1996 at the age of 83. *Most recognizable role:* _Singin? in the Rain_ (1952); Gene Kelly starred in and directed this film. *How to identify Fred Astaire* Fred Astaire was slim and known for his refined dancing style in tuxedos. Ginger Rogers was his dance partner in 10 films over the course of their careers -- seven of them in the '30s alone. During this time, Astaire's most famous performance was his scene ?_Puttin' on the Ritz_? in one of his movies. Astaire briefly retired from films, but returned and starred in non-musical roles that won him good reviews. His next most recognized performance was in the 1951 film _Royal Wedding_ where he danced up the wall, and ceiling, giving Lionel Richie some song material. Astaire later pursued a career in TV with a mix of dance and non-dance material. He received an honorary Oscar in 1950, plus Golden Globe Awards for acting. Astaire died in 1987 at 88 years old. *Most recognizable role:* _Royal Wedding_ (1951): Astaire starred in this film. Thanks, AskMen How To: Recognize Classic Movie Stars (LOL!) -
Did You Know......"_They All Kissed the Bride_" Carole Lombard was originally cast in this film, but due to her death in a plane crash in January, 1942, 'Joan Crawford' replaced her. When the film was completed, she contributed her entire salary to the American Red Cross in Lombard's name. Did You Know......"_The Women_" In addition to its all-female cast, every animal that was used in the film (the many dogs and horses) was female as well. In addition, none of the works of art seen in the backgrounds were representative of the male form.
