Look I dont mean to be a victim or a marytr. But do I belong here or what.
I have been here since yesterday. I am heavily medicated due to a brain aneurysm.
I have posted topics.
I have more hate mail one in day than in all my life.
If I am not welcome someone have the guts to say so here in the forums instead of writing me personally.
I have been told I place to many posts.
I am trying to pass the time with my passion. I am bored out of my mind and have four more months to be home and am way to young for this but lucky to be alive.
Norbell wrote in a forum that he answered a question saying that I hit the ignore button and wants to know why I did that. I did not.
I had an answer I gave in a post and it was gone and suddenly someone else took it.
I also had posting moved to another place although the intention was good. But if their are rules, someone inform me.
I am ready to give up. I don't get this at all. There is more to say but it would be too revealing of the people who said it.
So am I allowed to be here or am I a pain in the **** as someone who knows nothig about me stated.
I know I have posted a lot of topics. I thought they were timely and for good conversation.
Let me know if this place is a clique and I will depart.
I won't apologize.
Do you have any idea what it is like to have brain surgery and be confused and take nothing but meds and you try your best, but others let you kow your best is not good enough. I really hurt and am **** at myself that I allowe this to happen. I just hope no one else goes through it.
Norbell I am not blaming you, but that was the last straw. I never it an ignore button. If anything I wish this was the type of place where you can have a friends list. I hate myspace as they are not for intellectual discussion, IMO. I may be too harsh on that but don't like it.
I thought I would here. I never stole your answer Norbell. I had the answer because the question was mine to begin with. But since posting have been placed in other places, not by me, maybe did not see your answer. I did not ignore you. I just wrote you as well.
For the rest of you: shall I stay or leave you to yourselves?

what are you talking about I never hit the ignore button? Can you explain. I have been here since yesterday and have never had so many problems. I don't understand this. People have moved my postings to hot topics. I have mail that I write to much and now this. Listen if people want me to leave just say so. I don't get it. I thoght this would a much more welcoming community. I was hoping it had a place to add friends. I have filed out a profile which most have not.
And I never hit ignore. I have answered your other question on the 21 clues game and no response there since I posted. I just feel so unwelcome here. And yes it bothers me. I have so much time on my hands due to recuperating from surger and am going to be home for four months of physical therapy. I just don't get this at all.

Lassie:
keeping with dogs choose between
101 Dalmations or Dog Day Afternoon. LOL

Yep she's the only one. And if not for Ryan this year, it may be two with Blanchett if she pulls it off playing Bob Dylan. She was great. But the academy is not handing out many statutes to the same people anymore other than Hank in recent memory. And Blanchett is too recent for the Aviator.

I'l start. Barbra Striesand in Funny Girl. There are tons more. Let's see what ya got.
-
Wait. We did not have 14. Eastwood was listed twice and while he won two, their are at least 14 different. I will throw in 14th, it's Anthony Minghella who had a terrific scene at the end of Atonement this year. Others?
-
we have 14. If you can think of others add them. Polanski counts and was in many films. Good job
-
Gump is the weakest of all those nominees. It's my last choice that year. It turns out that the number one rented movie of all time from video stores is Shawshank. Tells you something. And Quiz show is one I would have voted for. Love it. And great to see such an assembeled cast, my fav movies are the ones with great ensembles. That is what Redford should have won for, not Ordinary People. It was good though.
-
In honor of TCM's 31 days of Oscar. Name 3 films you would have liked to have seen nominated. And then name the 1 you would have voted for for best pic.
My three: Bella
Across the Universe
Michael Clayton
One I would vote for best pic is Bella.

In response to person below me. I named Schindler as did someone else in top three. From a film making standpoint it is one of the best IMO. And as I said I can't sit through it again. Too painful. But extremely great film making. And I agree a person's fav film might not have won the Oscar. Mine is Julia and it won awards but not best pic. But the question is a great one asking what is your fav of those who did win. I look forward to more answers. And I loved your choice, So many films from the 40's are the best I have the entire Bette Davis collection. What does that say about me? My favs of hers are Now Voyager and Whatever Happened to her not winning the Oscar a third time? I mean, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? LOL
-
Fonda herself said and I agree, that her best work was one for a movie made for tv called The Dollmaker. I loved her in Julia, and thought she was incredible in her first nominated role, for They Shoot Horses Don't They.
I think there is a whole generation, and I don't mean you, of people who will not know that work as they will only know her most recent crap like Georgia Rule, though she was funny in Monster in Law. But it is benath her earlier work I think. And of course Klute and China Syndrome along with The Morning After are all wonderful in my opinion. Did you see any of those by chance? I don't mean that as an insulting question; I come here thinking everyone is a film buff, but do wonder if there are some here who have not followed the oldies but goodies. Some are hard to find like The Morning After.
peace. out.

Nicely Nicey.
Now pic amongst two legends. Julie Christie or Julie Andrews. So many people at first try to put Andrews on the list of people who won for playing someone real as in Maria von Trapp. I always find that amuzing because she deserved it, but won of all things for Mary Poppins. LOL
So, Andrews or Christie

Dan that is excellent for opinions. Great way to go.
I have to add right now: take Chariots of Fire and give to Reds.
I agree with other person about Fargo.
-
Another is John Ford. And I am glad someone mentioned Sydney Pollack. He is the most overlooked in this question. Someone, now I can't remember who, was mentioned twice. Remember it is 14, if not more, different people. Keep it up. Fun to read.

I am putting this here as it is a topic in which we have had an interesting conversation going in other forum.
With Oscars in three weeks, I ask this: name the person or people you would change in winning and losing if you had a ballot or fairy wand (I have the wand, LOL).
I would take Gwenth Paltrow and give it to Cate Blanchett
I would take Helen Hunt and give it to Judi Dench.
Take Crash and give to Brokeback.
Take Hoffman who was excellen and give to Heath, not becuase of timely subject.
Take Tomei and give to Plowright.
Take Kevin Spacey and give to Russell Crowe.
Take Julia Roberts and give to Laura Linney.
Take Gladiator, c'mon, yuck, that's me though, and give to Crouching Tiger ( Best cinematography ever, IMO.
That's enough to get started. I hope you respond. Thanks. I love these type of opinions.

Great job so far and so fast. Excellent. I have to watch game now but will be checking later. Peace.

Yes Helen Hayes is the answer. Thanks for reponding to my question. I did not mean to be rude about her looks. She looked good. But she is so more gorgeous in my opinion in the movie. I love her blond hair. And she was the only woman in a pants suit. It was ok. But the fashion police would have a field day with her.
I guess it brings back memories of when she won for Darling. Same thing in terms of dress.Just not a fashion icon, but I am actually glad she is not, as I think, to each their own. Actually, she is a fashion icon, just not feeding to the masses.
Thanks for supplying the quip.
But Marie was stunning. Hey, I am supposed to remember to vote on the acting not the dressing. Hey, wait I'm not voting. I'm not a member but should be. LOL. I bet you would agree with some of my choices over the academy. If I had a fairy wand, I would take back Helen Hunts, and Marisa Tomei's and Phillip Hoffman's (though he was excellent), and take Hanks from Philadelphia and give it to Neason for Schindler, that was a political statement if ever there was one for giving it to hanks. Wonder what some of the choices you would change?
-
This is one of my fav questions because there are many more than most think. Some are very tricky. Keep in mind these winners are people who have played multiple parts, not just one or two. See how many you can come up with. There are at least 14.
-
I died when Crash beat Brokeback Mountain. But then I thought, none of us should be surprised. Everyone in the Academy gets to vote on the Best Pic category. With over 70 speaking parts and a huge crew, you can only imagine the all voted for themselves and persuaded friends of their to vote, whereas Mountain had Two leads, two sizeble supporting leads and a couple of parents turning off tv sets. They were totally outnumbered and this lends to the credence that the awards are a group of people who are about SELF CONGRATULATIONS. **** me off. And Hoffman winning over Ledgr? Are you kidding me. And I said this ever since that night, not because Ledger is a timely topic, God rest him, but it is far easier to immitate someone so extreme as Tru, though Phillip was great. But compare that to a role of a man who was 25 and being hailed as the next Brando, and aged convincingly over 20 years in the film. Like Day Lews said at the SAG's that final scene still haunts me to this day.

Mr. Peabody - I have no idea why.
now Mr. Smith Goes to Washington or Mister Roberts

Thanks to both of you for responding. I see where the original thread is there but it has with it, the words, THE THREAD HAS BEEN MOVED. In reality it is in both places. But misworded in the new thread. I wanted to see how many guesses we would get naming winners who won an oscar playing a real person. Now we have movies being name like Out of Africa. And we even have Jessica Lange for Frances. She did not win. And none of the performers won in Out of Africa.
I can see why it is timely for hot topics, but it kind of has caused a lot of confusion when the intent by Mr6666 was to eliminate confusion. I do not blame him.
I am still confused about where to post as I don't want this to happen again.
I am new here, less than 24 hours and would like to participate but need to be able to find my questions. So I guess its up to the moderators. But in the big picture "pardon the pun" it's not big deal. I just want to have fun here to pass the time while I recupperate in this damned cold. LOL
-
That's right. Now my answers are here for the two ladies who won best actress and another award. Funny thing about Thompson, she is also one of the three to be nominated twice in the same year and losing....both as actress and supp actress (In the Name of the Father, a film many forget).
-
I see someone else asking something similar. But if I post in general and then someone moves it to hot topic, I wish I could be informed. And the FAQ section gives no info on these boards. So who moves the topics, a moderator, I suppose. I am getting emails from people that are very confusing. And I have a topic that is now in two places, a) where I originated it and
where someone moved it.What do you people do. And are there moderators? I would assume so. I don't mind it being moved. But boy was I confused this morning.
Take care. Thanks for any advice.

Cell...by tonight I'll send you answer if no one posts it here. Take care buddy.

Norbel can you tell me where you said you answered this on one of my many threads yesterday? I can't find it. I did not ignore you. And how many threads is one allowed to post. Sorry I did not obey the rules. I will leave soon. So you don't have to worry about me. Give newcomers a chance.
I can't believe how much, and I don't mean you, hate mail I have recieved for saying I am gay and Christian. I wish I had never joined. I am **** at myself as I am crying because my life is reduced to nothing from thi damned aneurysm and I have to learn to walk and talkk again. My whole life is at a standstill. I may have gone overboard with postings yesterday, but I was so glad to find a place with my intersts and to help me take my mind off of things. It is one big mistake.
