Try to find the thread from last weekend on the Oscar Winners who won an award portraying a real person. That will give you some good memories. One out of every six winners has portrayed something real. I am not sure of my fav biopic, but I loved The Miracle Worker and Schindler's List (for what it teaches us, can't sit through it again though). And I would love to know how accurate The Queen from last year is. I loved the seen of Mirren as the queen sitting on the hood of her car and looking at the doe and crying. You have to wonder. Such a private moment and I can't believe that anyone would know that except for her.

LOL. Yes I did miss 3/4 of it. I could not stand it and every time I just loose patience. But I like these responses and I think I am going to listen to Ebert. The back story of what I know is fascinating. Oh, how Louella ruled. LOL. Thanks people.

Sally Struthers. Can you believe that. Not exactly the answer you are looking for but I have to live with it. Imagine every year on July 28th I hear how old Sally Struthres is. At least I had Jackie Kennedy to give the day some class.

Bette Davis. Whatever Happened to Baby Jane or Bringing up Baby.

Kane is always number one with AFI. I would like opinions on to what makes this film so highly rated. It was a box office flop and source of much controversy when it came out. I have tired at least 10 times to watch this film and never get beyond a half hour. What am I missing?

I did not see that previously on the Hepburns. Thanks. Cat in the Hat. Now Cat on a Hot Tin Roof or Some like it Hot.

It's about time. I always felt his acting was overshadowed by his playboy image and matinee idol looks. When you can get past that, and most here probably do, you see a man of great range and talent. Bonnie and Clyde is one of my all time favs due to those five terrific performances. Heaven can Wait, Shampoo, are great on the lighter side. But Bugsy did me in. He was sensational. His best Reds. Thought I'll never understand the one with Halle Berry where he rapped as a politician. See I even forget the name. He is just great.

I love the bacstage stories. I would love to share mine because it still bewilders me to this day. Secrets and Lies directed by Mike Leigh. They worked without much of a script. The two female leads were not to meet nor know who each was prior to filmin a certain scene. Brenda Blythen (sic) gets a call from her daughter she gave up at birth. Mike Leigh wanted them to meet and capture the most authentic moment he could on screen. He told each actress, the other being Marie Jean Baptiste (sic again) to meet at a certain intersection and stand on a very busy sidewalk during rush hour and he gave them no clues. This went on for over two hours. Finally Baptiste goes up to Brenda and says "are you looking by chance for Hortence?" The look on Blythen's face followed by Marie's is priceless. They remained in character and to this day, I don't know how. Marie is black. Brenda, white. What a trick. Then Brenda without a script realizes she put the daughter up for adoption for being raped. I find it incredible. Share yours.

This may have been asked before. I just joined this past weekend and did not know of this section until today. I hope to see answer...the memories I read in posts give me good memories. My fav foreign film is A Beautiful Life. But completely going in opposite direction is of all things La Cage Aux Folles. That lead's performance is my all time fav comedy performance ever. When the film came out it broke foreign box office records. I loved it. Name yours. Thanks Robert

Judgement at Nuremberg. Yours?

Well I got two of of 8. LOL. For someone who' first language is French that's not too bad. I will never understand the meaning of some of those words. Learning this language and the synonoms was the worst part. Take care. Wait, let me try one more and see if I can get it. Ok: how about Meet Me in St. Louis.

It is awards season so I did not think it that bad a choice. I'll go with SAG awards. Next: Katherine Hepburn or Audrey Hepburn
-
drdolittle. I think that is an excellent idea. Start a thread on that. And see how others add to it. You begin the foundation since you thought of it. I really encourage you to. I think that would be fascinating reading. Thanks, Robert

This has to be my fav question I have seen. I don't know why I did not see it earlier. Man where to start. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I would love to live in that cinematograhy and be able to leap like that. Beautfiul film, intelligent people, great skilled people, beautfiul people. On another note, I would not want to walk into Glengarry Glen Ross.

I should have known that. It was too obvious and I missed it. Ok. the plane boss, the plane. Now choose between: You would rather have either Golden Globe or SAG award. Hmmmm.
-
I know we all know about Kevin Bacon. But since she hold most nominations, I'd like to see her connections. Just trying to get something going that is positive. I toss out first person: James Cagney. Now go.

Dumbo because that's me because I don't know what that one word means. LOL The Elephant Man or Rainman.

A period piece in the vein of Gosford Park. Maggie Smith would star. It would be mix of comedy and drama. She would get engaged and marry, we need see this from more women her age. Joan Plowright would be her maid of honor. The leading man would be Peter O'Toole. This really has nothing to do with Gosford Park does it? But that style and time, like Merchant Ivory films.

I put this here as the hot topics is getting a little to hot for me. LOL. Think of someone who won an Oscar that you would rather have seen someone else in the role and who. In keeping with awards season here goes: As Good As It Gets could have gotten better (horrible grammar) without Helen Hent and having Laura Linney. That's my take. Others?

A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum Dead Man Walking The man who knew too Much Driving Miss Daisy Coming Home Walk the Line Stand by Me Bringing up Baby I hope these count. English is not my first language. I know it fluently to speak it. But grammar is horrible for me. So I hope I added a few.

George of the Jungle. Now: Tom Hanks or Tom Jones (the winner of 63 best pic), not the one the ladies throw panties too.
