  1. Morgan Freeman was actually next.

What a guy this actor is.

    Shawshank Redemption

    Million Dollar Baby

    Driving Miss Daisy

    Amistad

    Glory

    Unforgiven

    Brubaker

Can we go back to Helen Hayes since she only had one film mentioned which by they way I like how Cinemaven ( I hope I had the right person named here) did this. But not to offend anyone, but Helen Hayes....remember at the end of your list to name someone. Some still don't do that. But this has been very interesting for me. I love it and I hope you all are getting some enjoyment out of it.

    Peace. Robert

    Helen Hays....thanks.

  2. The title says it all.

I would love to have played Salieri in Amadeus.

Now I know others won't do this but I am going to choose a role of the opposite sex as well.

I had this experience in high school when I was first coming to terms that I was gay and My Fair Lady was in full swing and I was mistakingly shoved to a chorus part, for which Mr. Dobbins will regret when I win my Oscar. LOL. But I hated Cyndi T. for her playing Eliza.

I never wanted to be a woman and still don't. That is only time however I wanted to play a woman's part. I can't think of a better role.

Who know's maybe others will name role of opposite sex.

peace, Robert...glad to be a man.

  3. I am loving these answers. They make my day. Keep them coming folks. LOL

Today from a movie I have never seen and loved called My Favorite Wife:

    "How was my funeral?"

"The Preacher gave a lovely sermon."

"I wish I could had been there."

My gosh was Cary Grant **** looking. I think of him and Brando and think what the hell happened? Grant aged so quickly it seemd unless my timing is really off.

  4. I'll be gone a couple days for a minor surgical procedure and someone wrote asking where is the Oscar trivia. So since some still want it, here goes. Last one did not have many responses. I stumpted to many people. This is easier. No theme here as like last one. Good luck mr6666. counting on you.

    1) What movie won best Pic but was first made as a motion pic for tv?

    2) What movie won Best Pic for shorteset time, 91 minutes?

    4) who won four Oscars in one year? A record.

    9) Therre are nine winners who won the Oscar after creating role on Broadway and winning the Tony. How many can you name.

    10) Who are the three women nominated for best Director? Better than asking of the 400 men. LOL.

good luck. l look forward to your answers.

  5. mark83....my word for you would be maturity and probably you have a very wise spirit within you.

There are times I go to the movies, mostly if the film is an independent, and if I tell the person behind the glass that thinks I am about to rip them off that I need two tickets to Mystic River for example and then in the line next to me I see five people giggling and ordering 5 tickets to Matrix Part 74, I want to scream what are you thinking? LOL

To each their own. But in my opinion you are doing great.

I long for great acting as in the old days, when you did not need special effects and make up to win an Oscar a la Kidman's nose in the Hours (the nose won the Oscar, I swear it did). But of this era I have seen a performance for the ages and that is Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood.

Now that is something of today I highly recommend. Very thought provoking.

Hey, share with us some of your favs. My classic fav is Streetcar Named Desire. And Some Like it Hot.

  6. You are right, I forget, and I used to even say Mad Mad Mad Mad World was my fav ensemble. Thanks for reminding me. I have that fim and have seen it 20 times I bet. Always good when you need a laugh. I am not much of one for slapstick, but cry tears laughing so hard at Ethel Merrman beating Milton Bearle with her purse. Love it. Thanks Robert

  7. I heard this today on TCM in A Thousand Clowns

Social Worker: I burt an entire chicken. I just lost my engagment to the man I love. I have 8 extra years of schooling. No job. No place to stay. An entire chicken.

Kyle thanks for that line below from Jean Browdie. I love that movie and Maggie Smith as you know.

  8. PM me if you have seen this movie and would like to discuss. This will be a classic for sure in years to come. I would love to discuss the title as I think the meaning of it went over the heads of the people with whom I saw the movie. Well hell it was a special showing at a hospital, so a lot of morphine in those clouds.

Day Lewis is stilll haunting me. I hope ok to post a thread like this in this area. Thanks.

  9. LOL. CineSage just fill me in. I just don't get it. There are always classics some don't like that the majority do. Is it because of the story or the new ways which were introduced into filmmaking? I really wonder. I am probably younger than you and that may have something to do with it. I think if I had the patience I would be able to enjoy it in its conclusion which I understand it a twist. Peace, Robert
