  1. well with that wonderful hint, LOL, I'll start. Is it Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison?
  2. Shelly Duvall Now pick between Shelly Winters or Winter Wonderland
  3. You're just trying to make nice with 'patful', aren't you? That line is hysterical to me. Who is patful. I'll make nice with anyone but don't know who this is. I'm off to bed to make nice dreams with Antonio Sabato jr. Whoops to much info. LOL. Take care all.
  4. A Beautiful Life with Roberto Begnini made me look my young nephew in a whole new light. I wanted to give him the world. And I learned so much about how to deal with adversity.
  5. I loved Giorgio Cantarini, the young boy in Life is Beautiful. He was extraordinary. And how about Thomas Sangster in Love Actually. His scenes with Liam Neeson were terrific. I loved when Liam thought the boy was depressed about his mother's death. But that had been a little while and he looked at Liam with a bewildered face and told him, that his pain was due to crush on girl in his gradeschool. Both are great movies and great performances.
  6. Gregory's point is interesting. I agree but must clarify something from my point of few. I don't mind if newer movies are shown as long as they are of great taste. I know taste can be debated. But people here for the most part seem to be on the same page. Problem with AMC is they will show something like A Streetcar Named Desire follwed by Legally Blonde. I'm not kidding, they did that. yuch. Just dont want TCM to fall into that trap of illogical thinking.
  7. Fractured Fairy Tales. Speaking of Fracturing. Pick from these both featuring Ryan Gosling, the best of his genration. Fracture or Half Nelson.
  8. Oh thanks. I have never seen it. And checked the schedule for the month but missing seeing it posted. I am with aniticipation awaiting based on what you said. Plus, I thought it was the answer to a trivia question here. But no. Wrong answer.
  9. We all know what they said about 1939 as the legendary year. I have always felt 1962 holds the title for best year of fims which most turned out to be classic. I'll name some. I find it remarkable they all came out that year. What is your fav year. 1962 gave us: Lawrence of Arabia The Days of Wine and Roses The Mirale Worker To Kill a Mockingbird Long Day's Journey into Night Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Sweet Bird of Youth The Manchurian Candidate. Isn't that amazing? What is yours? I am curious.
  10. hate to spoil a party but I can't stand him. Never could. I see no range in him. I have never been impressed not even with one performance and I have sat through many to see his co-stars. Although if I had to pick one I liked it would be, Down and Out in Beverly Hills. I have always wondered why his characters have such a manic energy to them. I saw him on Broadway years ago and it killed me, but he was Death and the Maiden with Glenn Close and Gene Hackman. How could I not see those two? I am not usually negative. But sorry, I wish I had good stuff to say about him. I like his taste in costars. LOL
  11. In another topic Tatum O'Neal and Paper Moon have been being disucssed and I though I wonder what is the fav performance of a child by many of you. I go with Christian Bale and have thought this ever since he made his debut in Speildberg's 'Empire of the Sun.' And thank God he has given us many roles to love and appreiciate. No wonder he is the talent he is today. What's yours?
  12. La Femme Nakita now La Cage aux Folles or Birdcage?
  13. Norbel can you tell me where you said you answered this on one of my many threads yesterday? I can't find it. I did not ignore you. And how many threads is one allowed to post. Sorry I did not obey the rules. I will leave soon. So you don't have to worry about me. Give newcomers a chance. I can't believe how much, and I don't mean you, hate mail I have recieved for saying I am gay and Christian. I wish I had never joined. I am **** at myself as I am crying because my life is reduced to nothing from thi damned aneurysm and I have to learn to walk and talkk again. My whole life is at a standstill. I may have gone overboard with postings yesterday, but I was so glad to find a place with my intersts and to help me take my mind off of things. It is one big mistake.
  14. what are you talking about I never hit the ignore button? Can you explain. I have been here since yesterday and have never had so many problems. I don't understand this. People have moved my postings to hot topics. I have mail that I write to much and now this. Listen if people want me to leave just say so. I don't get it. I thoght this would a much more welcoming community. I was hoping it had a place to add friends. I have filed out a profile which most have not. And I never hit ignore. I have answered your other question on the 21 clues game and no response there since I posted. I just feel so unwelcome here. And yes it bothers me. I have so much time on my hands due to recuperating from surger and am going to be home for four months of physical therapy. I just don't get this at all.
  15. Lassie: keeping with dogs choose between 101 Dalmations or Dog Day Afternoon. LOL
  16. Yep she's the only one. And if not for Ryan this year, it may be two with Blanchett if she pulls it off playing Bob Dylan. She was great. But the academy is not handing out many statutes to the same people anymore other than Hank in recent memory. And Blanchett is too recent for the Aviator.
  17. Nicely Nicey. Now pic amongst two legends. Julie Christie or Julie Andrews. So many people at first try to put Andrews on the list of people who won for playing someone real as in Maria von Trapp. I always find that amuzing because she deserved it, but won of all things for Mary Poppins. LOL So, Andrews or Christie
  18. Mr. Peabody - I have no idea why. now Mr. Smith Goes to Washington or Mister Roberts
  19. Thanks to both of you for responding. I see where the original thread is there but it has with it, the words, THE THREAD HAS BEEN MOVED. In reality it is in both places. But misworded in the new thread. I wanted to see how many guesses we would get naming winners who won an oscar playing a real person. Now we have movies being name like Out of Africa. And we even have Jessica Lange for Frances. She did not win. And none of the performers won in Out of Africa. I can see why it is timely for hot topics, but it kind of has caused a lot of confusion when the intent by Mr6666 was to eliminate confusion. I do not blame him. I am still confused about where to post as I don't want this to happen again. I am new here, less than 24 hours and would like to participate but need to be able to find my questions. So I guess its up to the moderators. But in the big picture "pardon the pun" it's not big deal. I just want to have fun here to pass the time while I recupperate in this damned cold. LOL
  20. I see someone else asking something similar. But if I post in general and then someone moves it to hot topic, I wish I could be informed. And the FAQ section gives no info on these boards. So who moves the topics, a moderator, I suppose. I am getting emails from people that are very confusing. And I have a topic that is now in two places, a) where I originated it and where someone moved it. What do you people do. And are there moderators? I would assume so. I don't mind it being moved. But boy was I confused this morning. Take care. Thanks for any advice.
  21. Surprised no one could finish this. The last couple father/daughter to win were the Coppola's. Sophia many forget did win for screenplay.
  22. Peter for Ulee's Gold. He was robbed of the gold. Now Peter Fonda or Jane Fonda. You knew it was coming. LOL
  23. Both are correct, except the question was for leading role. It's amazing Antony Hopkins won that, the books say 22 minutes, who knows, and he was being campagined by the studio for supp actor to which he removed his name and wanted lead. This discouraged the studio especially in ligh that the movie was released in February and a month later were the awards for the year before. How could anyone remember this movie a year from now, so they thought. And he won. It is a testament to his achievement because as he is not onscreen you still feel his presence. I saw Straight again last night in Nework. She really holds up well over time. I think Holden should have received the award vs. Finch, but both were supber. This and only A Streetcar Name Desire are the only films to win 3 of 4 acting awards. Interesting. I look for the day when a film can take the top six honors. Wonder if it will ever happen. It should have with Streetcar. Brando was sheer perfection.
